The secondary depth on this team is pretty epic. We're adding five DBs (I am counting Tracey Walker). -

I didn't think they needed a TE. The three-headed post-hock group was really good. They all had huge plays. -

I don't think either one of these guys needs encouragement from Dan Campbell to run through a wall to win. That's their type of guys. Carter, probably not. Wil Anderson was gone. -

DING DING DING DING DING................That GPS is how the team judges speed, moving side to side, reaction time, being able to stop and change directions, far more valuable than running a straight line. It's kind of like WAR, each team/agency has their own way of measuring it and it seems to have favored the last 2 drafts. I'd much rather have Brad Holmes running our draft than Mel Kiper or Bumfuk Douchebag or any other talking heads. These guys make weathermen look like Nostradamus I just can't believe how people are reacting. We don't know what their big board was. -

Reaches according to who? The guys running the Lions didn't think so. Those are the ones that count and they know a hell of a lot more than any writer. They got the guys they wanted. The quickness that they have changed the momentum of this organization, I am going to trust them until they give me a reason not to trust them. -

Swift has something to prove this year. Keep him. A rotation of Gibbs/Swift/Montgomery..........nobody gets worn down (assuming all stay healthy) -

I think a lot us around here have talked about how awesome it would be to have a Deebo Samuel. Well, that's what Gibbs is going to be for us. He's a Swiss Army Athlete. Teams better pay attention to him...........wait, they'd better pay attention to ASB too......... The Lions will have two offensive weapons that can be used a number of ways. Plus, this town is going to love Jack Campbell. He the middle linebacker we've been missing since Stephen Boyd Offensive Line -is one of the best Quarterback - Starter is very good and they are likely to upgrade the backup (Bridgwater or Wentz) Running Backs - a Deep and versatile group behind a great line, Wide Receivers - Good group, hurt by Jameson's stupidity, but they can still get quality in the draft in the 2nd, 3rd or even 5th round (or package picks to get one) and there are still a couple of vets to deepen the group. Remember, the passing game was working before Jameson last year. I am a big fan of Cedric Tillman Tight Ends - No stars here but they played a really key role after Hock was traded (post Hoc). I am pretty sure they'll take a TE somewhere, but honestly, they don't need to take one. Wright, Mitchell and Zylstra were fine Defensive Line - Could always use some improvement but it was getting better at the end of the season and they are getting Levi back. They did draft him in the 2nd round and thought highly of him. He wasn't 100% healthy in his rookie year. Maybe he's really good and we just haven't had a chance to see him. They get Charles Harris back. The Okwaras are both healthy right now. Secondary - a weak point last year, completely addressed by acquiring 3 really good free agents and will be getting Tracy Walker back. If this group stays healthy, they have rotational depth now too. And they can still add a decent CB in Round 2 Linebackers - This has been a weak point, but they do have okay players here. Anzalone was a much better player after Aubrey Pleasant was let go and the secondary started adhering to Glenn's scheme. Rodrigo was pretty good last year, but he has his weaknesses. James Houston is a QB missile specialist. They got Reeves-Maybin back (who I thought was pretty good in his last Lions season) and now they add Jack Campbell. He's a really good run-stopper and he can cover tight ends, one of our weaknesses. They have solid rotational depth at linebacker, which is not really a position that people think of as important, but Campbell's going to be really good. It's a long-winded point that the Lions didn't have a weak group coming into last night except for Linebackers and they improved that. Wide Receiver might be slightly lacking in depth right now, but they can improve that on Day 2 or Day 3. The Lions had a great Free Agent offseason and didn't need to fill major holes. The biggest objective in this draft was building depth. I think they did that with both picks last night and will continue the next two days. They simply didn't think the D-Line guys outside of Will Anderson were worth it at 6. Now, lets go get a QB with some experience so the team does not fall apart if Goff gets hurt. Gibbs is going to be exciting as hell next year and I don't care about RB short shelf life. This team is going for it NOW. Honestly, they are the #3 favorite to win the NFC behind Philly and San Francisco. Gibbs is the move when you want to win NOW. -

If Nolan Smith was so great, why did he drop to 30? If Jalen Carter was the best player in the draft, why was he passed over? -

My goodness. So down on 'em. The defense has already improved a lot. They can improve it more with 4 picks tomorrow. The offense was brilliant even before Jaymo was part of it and they added an electric playmaker who might give us some Barry Sandersesque thrills. Burying the team before the first practice of the spring. tsk tsk tsk. Let it play out. Holmes has a plan that showed incredible growth last year. This is all part of it. A running back isn't great in the first round because of the short shelf life, but they can be a game-changing talent in the short term. The Lions are going for it NOW, **** 2026. -

Is it really a big need? Wright, Zylstra and Mitchell were really good last year. I don't think it's a desperate need for them. And Gibbs probably opens things up for the TE spot to make more plays. -

Why? They Lions didn't need to fill a big hole this year like normal. They were going for depth in this draft. 3 second rounders helps with that. Maybe they still believe in Levi at DT. Maybe he really is healthy and ready to go. Nolan Smith is still out there, right? -

I was disappointed with the pick at 12, but let it play out. This guy is a weapon. They can keep him and still keep Swift. I don't mind the Campbell pick . They needed LBs and this idea that he can't cover.........they said that about Chris Spielman too, but Chris played faster than his 40 speed.............Chris had a much higher GPS. I think Campbell is going to play like that and yes, Spielman was taken in the 2nd round, but he played like a first round player. Just let it play out. -

That's exactly what he is. If people think Jameson was just going run nothing but deep routes, they're crazy. Jameson's strength was going going to be catching balls between 10-20 yards downfield and then using his speed. That's what this guy can do, but he can do it in a number of ways. They will line this guy up in the slot, on the outside and in the backfield. They love using creative plays, this guy helps them do that. -

I'll grade this draft on Draft Night in 2026. We talk about people having 2nd round draft grades. Who's second round draft grades? Mel Kiper? The other guy who isn't Mel Kiper who's name I can't think of right now? The Lions have their own way of measuring guys, the famous GPS (Game Play Speed) formula and maybe these two players were high up on their board. I don't know. You don't know. We'll just have to see how it works out when they play. So far Holmes has been pretty good in the draft, I'll just step back and let it play out.
