I do think the Lions tend to stay away from bad character guys more than most teams. Suh was kind of an exception and of course the most dangerous draft bust of all time, Reggie Rogers, who had lots of issues and wound up killing 3 kids here. I think what Reggie Rogers did probably has a lot to do with this team avoiding bad guys.

But you can't really say the Browns because they went away for 4 years. And in those 4 years the team that was the Browns got really good (just more sports heartbreak for Cleveland). So if you want to count the Browns, you can't say teams that have been around SINCE the first Super Bowl, since they weren't always around since then.....making the Lions the one and only. It would be more accurate to say the Lions and Browns fanbases have never been to the game, but not the teams themselves.

Winning a single playoff game would be awesome after 33 years. Of all the franchises that were around for the first Super Bowl, the Lions are the only one not to ever appear in a Super Bowl. I don't count the Browns because that Browns franchise became the Ravens, who have been to several.

Looking at an NFL Mock Draft for 2024. They have the Lions picking 31st (and not from a trade). WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL !!!!!!!!!!! (and losing to the Bengals).

The impending death of Bally Sports

I am fairly certain that the NHL will screw it up in some way. Who cares about the NBA. Might as well move the Pistons, they're never going to be good again. We finally get a break, we get a #1 pick and he's always going to be injured, they won't resign him, then he'll go play for the Las Vegas Kings or new Seattle Supersonics and he'll finally be a star. -
I woke up today hurting, having slept in a bed instead of a recliner for the first time in two years (having allowed my mom to have the recliner while her house remains dark and powerless). Head and neck aching, back barking at me. I realized I needed a few items from the store, like lunch meat and protein bars to take to work for the week ahead, A quick jaunt, if you will. I gather my 6 items and get into the self-service 15 Items or Less line. I looked at all the others who had to carry out this similar task and there was nobody smiling, they were all measuring their mundane lives 1 - 15 items at a time. Every basket told a story, stories not worth recounting. I noticed a man about 5 head of me in line with a full, large cart. I counted the items, I stopped at 30. I figure 16 is forgivable and 17 is hardly a foul, but this man had at least 40 items. I stood, aching and fuming over this personal affront, I wasn't alone. But what do you do, you don't work for the store and you don't know what kind of psycho you're dealing with. If you say something he could grab the plastic container with the four muffins at the top of his cart and slice your throat with the plastic edge. So you just stand.......and stew. It's just one of those things you silently accept, one of those things that selfish people do everyday. This is clearly a person who doesn't give a solitary shit if he's lengthening your stay. Then, when I was next in line, wondering whether I would get self-scan 8 or self-scan 3, ready to place a wager on it with the guy behind me, a loud alarm went off........an automated voice rang out over the store's PA "16 Item Alert, North 10........16 Item Alert, North 10" and from behind the self service counter they appeared, 6 body armored security officers. They rushed the thoughtless jerk and attempted to remove him. He protested, because of course he did. Then I saw one of the officers pull out a cattle prod. He zapped our rude friend under the arm and he fell to the floor, stunned and silent as the officers escorted him out of the store. Everyone in the line erupted in cheers, high fives and even a few celebratory embraces. I doubt this many strangers erupted with pure glee in unison around here since the Wings 2008 Stanley Cup victory. It was the greatest shopping experience of my life. I thought maybe Martin Scorsese was shooting a movie, but no, this was real. My head and shoulders no longer ached, I found a rush of energy that must have been a mixture of adrenaline and serotonin coursing through my veins. As I left the store it was then I realized that come Monday at lunch, I will be enjoying the greatest roast beef sandwich I would ever eat and I will savor every bite with this wonderful moment replaying through my mind.

Who was this other reliever? My goodness, batting practice pitchers are better. Austin Bergner to the rescue? -

Well this fell apart fast. 9-1 now. Two pitchers that have no business on the mound this inning. I am having Daniel Schlereth flashbacks. -

Oh, I know. I just think they have so much non on-the-field stuff to cover in these first few games, especially guys they've never talked about before. -

I was the same way. Wasn't sure I could get the game on 1270 online, so I got in my car and just drove around for an hour just to listen to the game. It'll be on FM today and maybe some of the more interesting new players will be playing. It's a nice day today so I will probably do the same for a little while. 1270 is literally called The Bet and the station is named after a casino betting sponsor. It's overload and other than a Tigers or Wings game I wouldn't want to listen. -

Didn't listen enough to notice, but in their defense they had a lot of offseason moves and new rules and getting to know players information to get out. Announcers need a little Spring Training too. -

My interest in sports has been waning for awhile now, mostly because of some of the awful people who are part of it and the over emphasis of legal gambling too. I still follow the local teams, but honestly, I hardly know any NHL players outside of Detroit anymore. I hate the NBA and college basketball because of all the prima donnas. Juwan Howard should have been fired. He threw a punch at someone as a Head Coach. So much for that higher standard, Michigan. College football is less appealing now, I mean I am a Michigan fan, but I really can't stand Jim Harbaugh, he's the biggest phony in sports since Rick Pitino (I know, they're all phonies). I will always follow baseball because it's like a religion, in a way, and it's what I have always done, but I found last year that in July when I discontinued my MLB TV subscription, I really didn't miss it that much. Having a horrible team was a big part of that. Maybe part of it this Decade of Suck in Detroit. I played along last year ($10 at a time), and I did really well (because it was only $10 at a time and my future was never at stake), I think the most I ever bet was $50 - on Tampa to beat KC in the Super Bowl, and I turned a $10 NFL playoff parlay into $160 thanks to the Cowboys and Packers choking), The $10 bets on the over 5.5 goals in NHL games was easy money. Probably won 6.5 out of every 10 times, but only $10 at a time. They wised up this season and you rarely see even a 6 these days. Too many NFL games are coming down to some very very shady officiating, officiating so bad that it lends credence to those who are saying it's all fixed. I stopped playing along this year. I was breaking even the first few weeks of the NFL season, but too many games came down to odd officiating that it just wasn't fun anymore. You have thousands and thousands of guys betting their mortgage and bill money on heavy bets. Something tragic is gonna happen and you can bet there is going to be a player scandal somewhere. Greed ruins everything. Always has, always will. And I am so burned out on the ads for betting. Every one of the people in those ads just sounds like the "degenerate gambler". They're worse than drug dealers. -

I watched Channel 4's sports and they showed a couple of highlights from yesterday...............THEY DIDN'T SHOW THE TRIPLE PLAY ! Does anyone have video of it. -
Alabama basketball Brandon Miller, who supplied a gun that wound up being used in the murder of a young woman, and is getting away with it (because he claimed he had no idea a crime would be committed) thought it would be a good idea during the player introductions Saturday to mimic a police pat down. The crowd thought it was great. This country is so fucking sick.

I like a lot of Pink Floyd music, but I do have to separate the artist from the art. Same thing with Jack Kerouac, who was a great writer, but just a horrible human being. I would say the same about Lou Reed, but let's face it, Lou hit the right note about 4 or 5 times in his whole life, and other than that he was just about the most untalented person to ever hit it big in music. Overrated as a musician and certainly as a man (just a little sidenote - Lou would him women in public and brag and laugh about it).

Wow, looks like the creator of Dilbert if picking up where angry racist Gallagher left off when he died.
