Mr. Consistency. That's so important, though. In his last 3 years he hit .295. He was still productive until the end, even though he missed games and battled some injuries. But we know why. Writers are vindictive as hell and they took it out on him for not talking to them very much. He just quietly did a great job for 19 years. Not flashy. He didn't need to be.

The WAR (Baseball Reference's formula) for MODERN DAY Second basemen Joe Morgan 100.6 Ryne Sandberg 67.9 Roberto Alomar 67.0 Craig Biggio 65.5 (not counting Rod Carew who played 1b half of his career) Lou Whitaker 75.1 Come on man, so he didn't talk to the media. So what? He was never rude about it. It's such a crime. He and Tram should have gone in together and the writers already cheated us out of that, but someone please do something here. To shut a guy out for not having good quotes, while Bill Mazeroski gets in based on ONE home run. Come on, man.....

C.C. Sabathia is going to the Hall Of Fame but Lou Whitaker isn't in it. That seems so wrong to me.

What's interesting about Pierce is that was the guy who McDaniels yelled at when Pierce tried to motivate the team by talking about his Giants upsetting the undefeated Patriots in the Super Bowl. Oh Raiders, don't ever change. You're adorable.

Interim coaches almost never get the gig, especially when they don't completely turn things around (which is very difficult in the NFL). The Raiders, who can **** up hiring a coach with the best of 'em, should have kept Rich Bisaccia because he did an amazing job and came within a questionable referee call from beating the eventual AFC champs (Bengals). So then, the next time they had an interim they did the opposite and kept him, and I actually think he deserved the shot because he did a good job last year. The Raiders failings are coming from the office more than the locker room. How do you expect a team that has an owner with that haircut to figure it out?

The Raiders are going to bring back Gruden. Oh, the nasty, racist and homophobic emails. Those are fine in the new America.

Ron DeSantis is a racist pig and he found every way possible to insult Joe Biden. But when Florida needed Hurricane relief Biden asked "what do you need" and then they got it. Because that's how you do it.

Funny how so many people and politicians from states that TAKE more from the rest of us than they give, want to deny aid to Californians. But not surprising. And yes, the strategy is going to be cut funding on just about everything to states with Democratic Governors and tell voters they need to vote for Republicans to get their funding back. I don't put anything past these vile pigs in that vile party. And it will probably work because Americans are so stupid. And then they can get enough of a majority to change the Constitution and my goodness, what they'll do to that. I hate these people.

I wonder when baseball when expand again. It's been a very long time, 27 years. I don't think baseball has much more room and I think 32 is the max that baseball could handle. I don't think there are a whole lot of markets that really are screaming for baseball. First the Rays have to be dealt with - I don't think they're staying in Tampa. So where would they move? Orlando? Salt Lake City? Nashville? Once that gets settled, then expand and have 8 4-team divisions. I am moving the Rays to Salt Lake and expanding with Montreal and Nashville. AL East Baltimore, Boston, New York, Toronto AL North Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, ,Minnesota AL South Houston, Kansas City, Nashville, Texas AL West Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Seattle NL East Montreal, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh NL South Atlanta, Cincinnati, Miami, Washington NL Central Chicago, Colorado, Milwaukee, St. Louis NL West Arizona, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego Schedule For me, every series outside your own division would be a 3-game series. Within the division there could be variables of 2 or 4 game series, but rarely. 18 vs. your division (54) 6 vs. other divisions in your league (72) 6 vs. your partner team (6) -- each team has an interleague opponent they play every year. (Tigers would be the Pirates) 6 vs. 5 other interleague teams (30) Partner teams? Orioles - Nationals (Beltway series) Red Sox - Phillies (Patriots series) Yankees - Mets (Big Apple Series) Blue Jays - Expos (O Canada Series) White Sox - Cubs (Windy City Series) Guardians - Reds (Puked in My Mouth Series) Tigers - Pirates (Steal Wheels Series) Twins - Brewers (Dairy Dream Series) Houston - Marlins (Gulf of America series) Kansas City - Cardinals (Show Me Series) Nashville - Braves (Biscuits & Gravy series) Texas - Diamondbacks (Something having to do with Cowboys Series) A's - Giants (Gamblers Anonymous Hotline Series) Angels - Dodgers (SoCal Series) Salt Lake City - Rockies (Continental Divide Series) Mariners - Padres (Pacific Coast Series) I would consider swapping Houston back to the NL for Atlanta or Miami to have 1 team in each league from Texas. Now that everyone has the DH, does it matter all that much?

Over .500 nearly halfway through the season. Who saw this coming? I thought I was Optimistic when I said 30-52. I know there would not be a chance of him winning it with a team that's 32-4 (and and another at 30-6), but J.B. Bickerstaff certainly should be a finalist for Coach Of The Year so far. But now there's a dilemma - The trade deadline. Some teams will have interest in Beasley, Harris and Hardaway Jr and others that have really helped Cade become a star player. If this team is still around .500 and still within 1-3 games of the Top 6, do you go for it because you haven't given this town a playoff game for so long or do you try to get more draft capital to make sure the team is infused with young talent? Seems like the NBA East is Cleveland, Boston, New York and then everyone else. If you get into the playoffs you'll probably have to play one of those teams, unless the team pulls off a miracle and cracks the top 4. Crazy as it may seem, they are only 2 1/2 games out of #4 (and 1 game out of the 5 slot). I know there is a house of cards feel to it and you better hope Cade stays healthy, but the Pistons are in a group of 6 or 7 teams who are in a very similar position right now. They've made me interested in them again. Cade's quietly one of the best players in the NBA right now. It's nice to see the team can win when he has a so-so night. The Nets are an awful team, but last year's Pistons would not have won.

Are you saying the Illitches would hold a grudge for this long? Oh yeah, #91 still isn't retired by the Red Wings. Yes they would. -

I was meaning more sentimental for Verlander or the Fans. If they think last year was a fluke, then kick the tires, but time is undefeated. -

Yeah, a 1 year deal with a base of 15 (he wouldn't go lower than Cobb), but loaded with incentives. Verlander wants to win 300 games, he's 38 games short. That means at least 3 more seasons of SUCCESSFUL baseball with at least 12 wins a year and he'll be 42 next month. I don't knock him for the goal, as he'd likely be the last guy to get to 300, but I just don't see it happening. I feel like it would just be a sentimental signing and that's fine, if it doesn't hurt us. He pitched like a 41 year old last year. He's entering Steve Carlton at the end of his career territory and that was a rough decline. He should just walk away. -

Maybe they're just looking for an excuse to repeat last year's parade of Openers. -
Anyone remember the Minnesota/Detroit game with the FOX announcers who didn't know what was going on. Said Golden Tate was a Viking and Norv Turner was a Lions coach. Anyone remember that? People called out the announcer (Mike Goldberg) on Twitter and he responded with some very colorful language and never did a game again. https://awfulannouncing.com/nfl/mike-goldberg-nfl-on-fox-play-by-play-broadcast-debut.html

We were all bitching about inactivity too much around here and Harris got sick of it, so he said "What the Hell, why not?" -
