2024 - 2025 Detroit Tigers Offseason
Motor City Sonics replied to AlaskanTigersFan's topic in Detroit Tigers
If they sign Bregman, it probably means the end for Baez in Detroit. We all know that AJ likes having guys on the bench that can play multiple positions. If he's got 4 bench spots (assuming Tork is DH), and one of them is going to a Catcher, then I think the other 3 spots are going to have to be multiple position guys, since Bregman and Torres would both be (mostly) one-position guys. Having Baez on the bench limits the moves AJ can make. I think Baez will either be SS #1 or not on the team in 2025. And sure, they could start Sweeney at AAA, but if Baez has another Spring Training like last year, I don't think they keep him. Not too sure about Tork being on this team either. They wouldn't get much in a trade. They start him at Toledo and tell him "prove you belong here". Malloy is the wild card at first base. We have no idea if he'll be any better there than he has been anywhere else. Plus Ibanez and Vierling can be your RH first baseman too. A lot of pressure on Tork. -
Oh man. Pistons close to within 3 of .500 and lose one of their best players. I think Ivey's season has to be over, judging by the reaction from both teams. He was having a really good season too. Next man up !

I think the Bears should hire Brandon Staley or Josh McDaniels.

HAPPY NEW YEAR NOLA. Louisiana loves their guns. I'm sure it's all Biden's fault.

Jimmy Carter built houses for poor people and actually inspired others to do the same. With his own hands. Most ex Presidents just go on expensive speaking tours. I'll give him a ton of credit. As far as any "weakness" goes, lets remember that his opponent in 1980 made a deal to make sure our hostages stayed hostages until he was sworn in. That's real weakness, keeping our people in captivity for a single extra day to serve his own needs. And if you want to trace back this imbalance between the haves and have nots to anyone - it's him. But he talked pretty. He was a ****ing actor. Carter was a decent guy (who has plenty of flaws). He was also a musichead, which I'll always appreciate. Because if my job I won't say while I'll be doing when a certain person dies, but it won't be mourning.

Not sure. Are you absolutely sure that if you put Daniels or Nix in Chicago that it would not have been a trainwreck? Sam Darnold is showing us that it can be very reckless to put a rookie QB in a bad situation and expect anything good to happen. Bryce Young is showing signs of life too. These fellas got thrown to the wolves as rookies. I know everyone believes Zack Wilson is a major bust but if he gets an opportunity at redemption like Darnold and Geno Smith did, he might show you something. J.J. McCarthy wound up in a perfect scenario. Sit and watch something successful and see how it's done. I am pretty sure he'll get traded when the Vikings sign Darnold. McCarthy will likely end up with any number of teams, but a team with an aging QB would be so perfect for him. A team like the Rams or Cowboys would have him set up to take over in 2026 and get off to a flying start.

I will give Jerry Jones credit. The video of the fans heckling him in Philly, and instead of demanding they be thrown out, he talks to them. He eats the **** with a smile on his face instead of running off and hiding. I think that's pretty cool, actually.

Watching the Twilight Zone marathon. Rod Serling and his writers were genius. The episode with the Neo Nazi played by Dennis Hopper had the following epilogue that is so crystal clear right now. Rod tried to warn us. Where will he go next, this phantom from another time, this resurrected ghost of a previous nightmare? Chicago? Los Angeles? Miami, Florida? Vincennes, Indiana? Syracuse, New York? Any place, every place, where there's hate, where there's prejudice, where there's bigotry — he's alive. He's alive so long as these evils exist. Remember that when he comes to your town. Remember it when you hear his voice speaking out through others. Remember it when you hear a name called, a minority attacked, any blind, unreasoning assault on a people or any human being. He's alive, because through these things, we keep him alive.

Looking up 2b and seeing their career WAR. How the hell is Lou Whitaker not in the Hall of Fame. It's an absolute crime. Why, because he didn't talk to the media? He had nothing to say, he said it with this bat and glove.

I have heard Tom was a pretty heavy drinker. He died way too young. .

Exactly. What's the difference. You take guys out of certain positions you leave other guys vulnerable for injuries from missed blocks and tackles. This team has one speed and they don't let up. That's what they do and they probably shouldn't stop it because you can't stop a runaway train and if you do, you can't get it up to speed fast enough for this postseason. It's all-out all the time. They want revenge tonight.
