Just have two teams with a 16-game record. This is an extreme circumstance. The playoffs would be seeded by winning percentage. I really doubt anyone will be saying the Bills or even the Bengals got any kind of advantage from last night. Both teams were traumatized. Really, the only team that could have a gripe about it is the Chiefs and maybe the Ravens, and the whole country would hate them if they did gripe.

He probably had the Minnesota gig until the interview and they thought he was too flaky (because he is) The Colts gig is different. He's known Jim Irsay since he played there. They have always kept in contact. I guess Harbaugh reached out to Irsay when he got busted with the pills to offer support. He would not have to even interview for that job, if he wants it, it's his. Jim Irsay is a flake too.

Plus using the Bye Week Buffer for Thursday games insures that you get more variety on Thursday games and pretty much everyone would get a chance to be in the spotlight. Some teams don't deserve to be, but when they make the schedule in advance they have no idea how good someone will be. Look how many Prime Time games the Lemmy-Awful Colts got this season. As entertaining as watching ice cream melt.

Nothing to do with Hamlin's injury, that was a freak occurrence, but just overall for player safety and for the quality of the games. Players deserve that 2nd bye week. It should have been automatic when the 17th game was announced.

The day after a game is considered an Off Day, so there are no physical football activities, no practice. But players still come in, some of them come in to work out, some of them come in to work with the training staff on injuries and some of them come in for game film or bull sessions with their position coaches. Every once in a while the coach tells them take the full day off - meaning you earned it, take a break. But after the Carolina game, you can bet that every player on the Lions team game in to work on something. With Thursday games that recovery/rest day is taken away and game prep gets cut down to two days and the road team has to travel on the 2nd day or the day of the game. It's a joke and it needs to stop.

No.........just have Thursday night teams where the two opponents had a bye the previous Sunday. Okay, there would have to be a bye every week until the final week...........So what? They had 31 teams for several years - meaning they had a bye team every single week and it didn't hurt the game a bit.

Come on, man. Asking those guys to wreck themselves 3 days after they just did it is wrong. They can figure that out. Plus the teams can't really prepare for the other teams. Most Thursday games are garbage anyway. They added a 17th week, give the players a 2nd bye week. It would be good for football - extend the season an extra week. So what if the Super Bowl is in Mid February. That's a sports dead zone anyway.

Funny, I tuned in to see if Skip Soulless was on today and the theme song has the lyrics have "No Mercy". And Skip is on today. He shouldn't be. I don't think he should be fired, but he should be given a week to think about things.

Its possible that Hamlin had a heart defect that he didn't know about, but with the testing done today, I doubt that gets missed. Again, sadly, it's about money and an NFL team is not going to invest $900,000 a year in a guy with a heart defect, although Maurice Hurst is still playing.

I think he had a heart defect that got missed. He hadn't gotten hit on the plays before he collapsed. He had complained of chest pains before that happened and the diagnosis was missed. For him it was a time bomb. I think last night was an freak injury.

Thursday games after teams just played on Sunday too. No time to recover so not only do you risk player safety, you get shitty games too. Add a second bye week, put in a rule that all teams must have 6 days between games at the least. Sure, one of the Lions bye weeks would always be the week before Thanksgiving. Okay. I know it makes it more complicated for schedulers, but we crashed a rocket into an asteroid and knocked it off course........I'm sure we can do this.

Heart's in the middle of a rhythm something disrupts it (Commotio Codis = Commotion of The Heart) and it starts trying to find it's rhythm again and seizes up, like a gear coming loose in a machine and grinding it to a stop. It could happen to anyone if you are struck in the chest. Surprise this does not happen more often in football, actually. This happened, do a much lesser degree, to Chris Pronger in a game against the Wings when he blocked a shot with his chest and he collapsed to the ice a couple seconds late, but he never passed out and his heart never stopped but it was beating erratically for quite some time. Scared the hell out of him, let getting the wind knocked out of you. Temporary injury but it is scary as hell.

The fact that he had trained medical experts there, less than 15 seconds after he collapsed, will probably save his life. I hope so. It saved Reggie Brown's. Dale Earnhardt was part of a sport where every single lap death is a possibility and was he so aggressive with his car. He didn't deserve to die, but he flirted with danger all the time, not just the standard driving but the "rubbing".....rubbing at 200 mph is insane. Jiri Fischer will be the one that always gets me, because his could have happened if he was driving or sitting at home and he's lucky his happened where it did.
