  1. I was using reverse psychology there, see?
  2. 9th inning Vest and Not 9th inning Vest are not the same thing at all
  3. Question: Is there a way to look at the team stat page and just isolate a month or a home/away split in Baseball Reference? You know - this page?
  4. You know something almost all streaks do? Come to an end. And we had bad Paddack last time. He's kind of a yo-yo, might get good Paddack tonight. Anyway, it's baseball. It's a beautiful evening, perfect temperature out there and it's a Saturday Just enjoy it, knowing that if you lose 60 times in one season, you're one of the best teams in baseball. Tigers get 7 more
  5. Wow, the Yankees are a disaster. Lost 6-3 Thursday to Boston - playing like Caca (**** would be too respectful), 9 walks, 4 errors Then 1-0 last night And today losing 12-1 AT HOME ! Not sure Aaron Boone survives if they don't get to the ALCS again. And since that's a step below last year, he might not survive even if they do get to that level. I know the team isn't as knee-jerk as when George was running the team, but when a team plays really poorly someone usually gets the blame.
  6. I feel like a win tonight over KC and that's pretty much that as far as the AL Central (especially if Cleveland loses. A win tonight and they are 11.5 over both of them even if Cleveland wins and with just 31 games left, it would take both an epic surge from one of them, coupled with an epic collapse by the Tigers. Now its all about keeping a top 2 slot and setting the playoff rotation.
  7. Is Bennetti doing the Tigers game tonight? I am sure he could, but as much as I like the guy, I am a little miffed that he has prioritized doing Lions preseason games over Tiger regular season games while they have the best record in the AL. Just rubs me the wrong way. I know he can do both when they are playing at home, but he didn't he do the Lions game last week instead of the Tigers?
  8. Good for Deion. Glad he's in remission. Good for him to be open about it too. It might help others face it. But overall, I have never cared so little about college football in my life. I don't know if it's because my job keeps me extremely busy (and I am glad about that), or if it's because baseball is so front and center this year, but I really hate the direction college sports have gone. I used to be against players getting paid, then these conferences in schools started making decisions only for money and I changed on players getting paid, but not millions. It's just chaos now. I know it's always been slimy, but now it's so blatantly slimy, but so is everything else these days. I just can't get excited about it this year and I'm not that sad about it. I mean, Go Blue, I guess............
  9. Gee, you see what happens when you're good, Pittsburgh? You should give it a try.
  10. Riley Greene is 6 RBI away from being the first Tiger to have 100 RBI since...............(year and player, and it ain't Miggy)
  11. Wow, Did the Astros sign Daniel Schlereth ?
  12. Oh for the love of ****, someone make Mike Love go away. Just crawl into a hole.
  13. I lived in ABQ for a year. Granted, it was in the 90s, but I don't think it's big enough for MLB. Night games. No rain delays in the Summer and Summer nights in Vegas are more comfortable than Summer nights here.
  14. 5-2 on a road trip is nothing to complain about, no matter the opponent.
  15. Chris Paddack just can't beat his old mates.
  16. I really really like the Twins City Connect uniforms. They are elegant and simple and not tacky like so many others, including ours.
  17. Someone AI'd my name (a station listener) to figure out if I was the same Mark Copeland that worked in Lansing in the 90s. AI got our call letters right and the city right but it said that I was a part of the Kenneth Copeland religious family and that our station was a religious station. Good think we're relying on this so much more - nothing could go wrong. .
  18. He's being the Wide Receiver, who every time they don't catch a pass they throw their hands up in the air like "Why was there no PI call there". Credit for the effort.
  19. A thing I love about message boards is somebody coming in here for the first time is probably thinking Why is everyone suddenly saying Bert ?
  20. WE'VE GOT BERT !
  21. it's your fault. you're an enabler.
  22. Wanted to post something nasty about Rog, but nope, sorry
  23. Q Johnson gets concussed in a preseason game. Looks kind of serious. Harbaugh's an idiot.
  24. Well, I feel like Las Vegas has kind of peaked, hasn't it? I know the population exploded the last 30 years, but isn't that tide turning or about to turn? Especially with sports gambling being league in so many states now (and more are coming). I hate sports gambling, even though I took about $600 from Bet MGM a couple years ago on hockey bets (I never bet more than $10 and always picked an OVER on a 5.5 goal total and won at least 2/3rds of the time, then 5.5's started disappearing). Does Vegas have that juice it once had? And adding an A's game to a tourism package - does that even move the needle? Sure when they play Ohtani or Aaron Judge, but what about most of the games. Most regular people couldn't name a single A's player from the past 5 years if you put a gun to their head. Do they think FIsher is suddenly going to try to sign a bunch of superstars? I don't think Casino owners are giving him money to sign players to have fans spend nights away from their Casinos. That Sphere thing, though really cool, has been a massive money-loser. You have to have a massive artist play there and there aren't that many of those. The A's would be way better off playing in front of a bunch of tech nerds in San Jose. the hockey team works because their first year they went to the Stanley Cup Final - so they set themselves up for the next few years and then won it again, so it's stayed hot. Plus it's two games a week in the winter. Raiders do well because they have a national following and only 8 or 9 home games a year - and on a weekend mostly I think the NBA would do very well in Vegas because there is only 41 teams and players would probably love to play there. But baseball? 81 games a year? Team that hasn't been good in 20 years and hasn't had a bankable star in that whole time? Not seeing it. Not unless they book big concerts for right after the game (which they might try). Nashville - I get. Not big, but little competition. Charlotte is kind of like that too. Who knows what team payrolls are even going to look like after the 2027 strike. .
