    I was disappointed, but only mildly over the Baez instead of Correa, but I expected Baez to be better than this. Baez has been on generally good teams with good lineups. Maybe when he's got quality around him, it probably helps his game. But nobody expected this and I won't bag on Avila too much on this move. It's just the weight of all the moves. The free agents have mostly been a disaster, the trades have been bad, but for me it's the drafting. There's no excuse for that, because outside of money for certain first round guys, there is no excuse to pass over talent like they do routinely. And honestly, the potential weight of a first-round contract hasn't been a hindrance, they've been willing to pay up recently. The question seems to be are they that bad at drafting or that bad at development and my fear is that they are that bad at both. That's why a total purge is needed. I mean total. Nobody in player personnel, scouting or coaching in this organization deserves to keep their job. (Okay, maybe Chris Fetter, but I have a feeling he'll be managing a team in a year or two, he may even replace A.J. when he leaves).

    By the way, Tears For Fears show at Pine Knob. I know someone here decided to bail because of the heat, but they were fantastic last night. Great show. Roland's voice is as good as ever. Good crowd there too. Pavilion and lawn were probably at least 85% full and the crowd was loving the show.

    It's not about one move. One move can be forgiven. This is misstep after misstep after misstep - right off of a ledge. If any of us were as bad at our jobs would we still have it? I doubt it.

    I've been talking about POSITION players, since our lineup is so horrible. Rogers, Dingler, Clemens, Kreidler, Campos, Santana, Keith, Cabrera and Workman haven't proven a damn thing. We can ALWAYS point to a list of who's coming, but they either never seem to make it or our developmental staff (Al is in charge of) seems to screw them up. I don't want to hear about the future anymore. He's had 7 years as the man in charge and 13 as the man behind the throne before that and look at what we have. Excuse me if I don't believe that any of these guys will live up to our hype.

    You know what's so ironic about that. Those Rule 5 guys come from teams that drafted so well they couldn't keep some talented players on their own rosters..............The Bizzaro Al.

    Can we have a "Tap Out" rule. If a team is down by 10 runs they can just call it? That would have taken more effort than that team showed yesterday. Talk about phoning it in.

    I am sensing a complete tonal shift from the fan base after the Chicago series. Fans went from disappointed to very angry, (apoplectic, actually). The next phase is worst of all - apathy and we're standing on the ledge of that abyss - and when that happens, you don't even get talked about anymore. Have fun with that.

    What? Look at the shitty drafting! That's not Illitch's fault, is it? That's how you build a team, through drafting. You don't build them through free agents anymore. The drafting is pathetic. This bum has been GM or AGM for 20 years and the everyday position players to show for his drafting are Nick Castellanos, Alex Avila, James McCann, Cameron Maybe and I'll be kind and give him Devin Travis..............THAT'S IT! 20 DAMN YEARS, THAT'S IT ! James McCann & Cameron Maybin are journeymen/role players. So that leaves Nick, who couldn't catch water if he fell out of a boat and his son. Wow, that's an incredible find, your own son. His son was the best player he ever drafted (as the AGM he was in charge of scouting and development). I like Alex Avila, but he was just a solid everyday catcher, and that's it. Plus the trades. Okay, I'll give it 25% Chris and 75% Al, and most of that 25% blame is for extending Al. Not on Avila. Where do you buy your weed, tell me the strain, I want summa that !

    Take a walk around the District Detroit at night and whistle, you'll hear your whistle echo off the buildings and the parking structures because there is nobody else there to absorb the sound. I love that they guy won't give in on selling the house. Good for him. To hell with Chris. I miss Dad.

    One of the best perks of being in radio is getting tickets to a lot of shows (not all of them though), but even indie bands are just ridiculous, but you can still see a young and upcoming band at a place like Magic Stick or El Club for $30 or less and those younger and upcoming bands are usually more into it. I was going to buy Elton John tickets for his new farewell tour (his 15th farewell tour, I think) and the show is at (or was at ) Comerica. I selected the tickets, went to the shopping cart and saw that the price for $46 more dollars than advertised due to fees. I can afford that, but I took a stand and said NOPE. $23 a ticket is bullshit. Girlfriend agreed. Elton can't even hit those high notes anymore anyway. But the final price should be advertised that way. Not paying those kind of fees, not even getting a real ticket either.

    This is the lowest point since 2003. It really is. I remember 97.1 playing Ernie's last game the weekend after he died, they played it on a Sunday morning and I remember listening and hearing that lineup and how horrible it was (2002 team) and thinking what a shame that a legend like Ernie had to call his last game with a lineup like that. They were better than this.

    I just stepped outside to check for mail...............HOLY SHIT.............I can't imagine sitting at that stadium in the sun today. Insane. Going to see Tears For Fears tonight at Pine Knob, those British boys are gonna melt. But you know what, I'll see more hits tonight than any Tigers fan saw at Comerica from the home team. .

    What is even worse is they don't get any success form any other round............consistently or even non consistent. Most good teams are not loaded with 1st round guys. You have to strike sometimes outside of the first round.............the Tigers don't even do it by accident, man.

    Today was it, Today was the end. The White Sox were reeling coming in, the fans were lustily booing their manager who literally could have dementia. Now they're all better, aren't they? There's no reason to watch this garbage anymore..........well, maybe because we're a bunch of junkies looking for a fix, but this is a waste of time and energy. Working from home today and didn't flip on the game for one second, and glad I didn't. Cancelling my MLB TV subscription tomorrow. Why bother anymore?

    Think about it............ The team who might win their 3rd straight Stanley Cup was largely built by Steve Yzerman. Makes you feel good. There's hope. It's taking longer than we'd like but you see the potential there. I trust Yzerman. He gets five more years before I start wondering. The Pistons were in quicksand for years and Troy Weaver has come in and made a bunch of moves and most of them are working, he's got the skeleton of a good team and he's got the budding superstar. A good draft pick and a above average free agent gets them into the playoff chase. I think he's done wonders very quickly, even thought it isn't showing in the record (part of that was by design) The Lions seem to have hired a sensible GM that doesn't say a bunch of stupid shit and doesn't act holier than thou. So far I think Brad Holmes has had 2 pretty good drafts, but we won't know. The coach? A bit of a buffoon, but far better than the arrogant ass we had before. The players LOVE the guy and they'll fight like hell for him. There's hope, not this year, but even national pundits are talking about the Lions. And then there's Al.

    I'm so sick of the word REBUILDING All of our teams REBUILDING for a decade. When was the last time one of our 4 majors made the playoffs, 2014?

    I hope you looked at the post I made last night during an angry outburst. You saw what 20 years of drafting has brought, as far as position players. You couldn't even put a full respectable lineup for 20 years of drafting. I'm not giving up on Spence, I'm not giving up on Greene, but this idea that Colt Keith or Ryan Kreidler or Roberto Campos will come to the rescue is ridiculous. Right now our development guys are busy screwing them up somehow, probably tweaking the things that are working to the point where they don't work anymore. I don't know, I just know every single person involved in scouting, drafting and developing players needs to be fired at the end of the season. I shudder at the thought of them having their hands on another draft but you can't really cut everyone loose in mid-season. I know it won't happen. I know Chris doesn't care, so here we are 1988-2005 all over again, and with that as the standard of suck, we're only in 1996. Gonna be a great fuckin' decade.

    What's the point in keeping AJ either? So he can rot? I like the guy, but why sentence him to this? He's now paid for his past crimes, he did his time, first in purgatory and now 2 years in Hell. Release him. Al's going nowhere. Al doesn't rock the boat. Al's a good little soldier for Chris. Chris is a businessman who inherited a sports team and as long as he can squeeze any kind of profit out of it, he's not selling and that's why we need to stop giving them our money.

    At this point the fanbase should be in full revolt. A struggling team with a near 80-yaer old manager, who doesn't seem to know what he's doing just came in to your house and pissed all over your rug and laughed. This has very little to do with injuries, the injuries have been mainly pitchers and the pitching staff has held up remarkably well. You have one kid who had a remarkable start to his career on the mound and has only 1 win to show for it becuase of your horrible lineup. Kid had a bad day today, he ain't perfect. Boycott this team. Don't spend a dime on merch, don't buy tickets, don't give them your money anymore. This is repulsive. This aggression can not stand, man.
