  1. that'll fix everything. What, are we going to end up with 10 position players and 16 pitchers?
  2. Somewhere along the way you've heard Take Five and the Barber Of Seville.
  3. It's so bad that I am clamoring for Victor Reyes to return. How bad is this injury?
  4. Nope. Won't happen. Al is Chris' boy. Does what he's told. Theo wouldn't come here unless he had some guarantees that he probably couldn't get from Chris. Christ is about turning a profit. You want a real change? Don't go to anymore games until they get it.
  5. Yep, it was a turning point. If I remember correctly it was when they replaced Wilson Ramos and Grayson Greiner with Eric Haase and Jake Rogers and they made adjustments to Casey Mize's delivery. It's also about the time Jonathan Schoop started finally hitting. He got our only hit today.
  6. I don't know what it could be, but there needs to be some kind of change. Last year it was on this day when they started turning things around.
  7. How do you say our pitchers name, is it Tibda, or Tibbed? Not sure.
  8. Oh they lollygag the ball around the infield, they lollygag their way down to first, they lollygag in and out of the dugout. You know what that makes the?
  9. Bruce Boudreau is the guy you bring in when your team is ready to win but isn't getting over the hump. Like a Billy Martin-type. He'll make you better right away, but by the end of the year 2, everyone will be fried. Wings aren't there yet. Wings still need a teacher, but probably one with a not-so-pleasant disposition at times. A red-ass. A Babcock type with out the personal assholery. Those guys aren't easy to find. I would still say Lane Lambert is the favorite because of a past close relationship with Yzerman, but maybe Yzerman doesn't want to eventually fire a close friend. Maybe Rick Tocchet.
  10. After the hockey season ended I stopped betting. The dynamic of the game tends to change in the playoffs as team are more concerned with protecting the puck. By betting $10 at a time, I walked away from this football/hockey season about $400 richer. I bet on Epicenter in the Kentucky Derby to win, so it was a small loss. I did think about throwing $20 on the long shot for the hell of it. Oops. $20 could have netted me $1500. Oh well, it was still exciting to witness that yesterday and it's a great story.
  11. Watching a documentary series on Netflix "Meltdown: Three Mile Island". I have watched a lot about the TMI accident, but this goes much deeper and we came so close to a Chernobyl situation that most of us never knew. Comfort in knowing there are people like Rick Parks in the world.
  12. Kentucky Derby? Nice area
  13. This really has been the Worst-Case Scenario. The only things worse than the Tigers this year are the Reds and Home Plate Umpires.
  14. as long as they make a profit
  15. This team just fucking sucks.
  16. 80 to 1 shot just won the Kentucky Derby. Even though my horse finished 2nd...........this was awesome. The horse, Rich Strike, was not even in the race until this morning after another horse was scratched. Awesome.
  17. From 1984 through about 2014 we had it pretty good here. We always had one of our team (not named the Lions) as a legitimate championship contender and we got to the finals 5 times with the Pistons, 5 times with the Wings and 3 times with the Tigers, and in many of those years we got as close as the semi-finals. Even 2014 the Tigers were a legit contender (thanks Brad). We had it sooooo good here and now, when was the last time a Detroit team even made the playoffs, much less won a playoff game. We're closing in on a full decade. The 70's weren't even that bad, and the 70's were fucking bad.
  18. I don't know how much more time Al Avila should get. Theo Epstein is out there and he dropped some hints that some people may think were about the Tigers. I'd pay him whatever he wanted and give him total control, but I think we all know that winning is not really part of Chris Illitch's plan, so he won't bend over backwards to do it. I don't think he'll get very creative and he'll stick with the guy that does what he's told. This city is just beat down with their sports teams right now. We need someone, anyone to just make a playoff. I don't think with 4 pro teams that's asking very much. I think the Lions are building it right but they need 2 more years and I'm not sure on Campbell yet. The Pistons have a potential superstar and hopefully the draft lottery gives them another one and they could be in the playoffs next year. The Red Wings have some young studs and probably as red-ass coach coming along and some more youngsters on the way (Read between the lines with Yzerman - he's not going for any big free agents this year, so probably no Stamkos). So we had a little hope with the Tigers, but..... It won't be the Tigers this year.......and I didn't realistically think it would be, but I thought I would accept that realization in August, not May 7th. We should have seen the bad karma coming the second Greene got hurt. Now Kreidler with a lost season. A lot of us said that you need 8 starting pitchers going into a season. The 5 you start with and 3 guys that can step in. We've already used 8 and we'll probably need another one before Mize and Manning come back (if they come back this year). Ugh. It's just been brutal. That along with the shittiest Spring ever (so far) has made this a very depressing time around here. Maybe its a case of every little thing going wrong at the same time, but this lineup looks lifeless. 4 starters and 1 platoon starter hitting under .200. I didn't think there was any chance they could start as badly as 9-24 again, but they are right on track for that. It's sickening.
  19. To this day I don't get the Whitaker thing. Is it because of his aloofness? So what? He wasn't mean about it, he just didn't have much to say. You stack his offensive and defensive numbers right up there with the other second baseman and he's right there, right in the middle of the ones already there I just don't get it. It sucks and it's not right. They were the dynamic duo and they need to be together there.
  20. You know that I've actually been through the desert on a horse with no name and it really did feel good to get out of the rain?
  21. The new Arcade Fire has gone back to basics and shed the disco stuff. Nice to hear the return.
  22. Howard is a good guy. One thing he did was punished Kim for stepping out of line, but she did step out of line. When she quit he didn't want to accept her check. Howard is this guy born with a silver spoon, right? He never had to really work for anything and there might be some resentment because of that, but yes, I think he would have hired Jimmy. He liked Jimmy, but he took the bullet to protect Chuck, but Jimmy and Kim know that. It's another thing about this show - it has us rooting for bad people when Howard seems like he's actually a good guy. And I always go back to the first season when Chuck was right about the "chimp with a machine gun" line. He didn't have to be such a dick about it, though. I think there is going to be some regret about hurting Howard. As Huell said "why are you doing this?"
