  1. How stupid are the Mets and Rangers going to look when they don't make the playoffs next year?
  2. Again, I will bring this up from the past. Many of us wanted Rich Aurilia when he was a free agent. Seattle got him so we took Carlos Guillen off their hands. Guillen was a huge part of this team's resurgence and Aurilia looked like, well, a steroid flash-in-the-pan (he was Bonds' teammate). We won. Not saying Carlos is a steroid user, he obviously is not, but we were so focused on the big name that we lost sight of the fact that any of the big FA shortstops was going to be a big upgrade over what we (didn't) have. Someone is going to sign Correa to a ridiculous deal. Let it be their problem if he doesn't live up to it. The one year he hit over .300 was the year the Astros were stealing signs. He hasn't come close other than that. Great player, sure, Superstar? I don't know. Signing him probably prevents the Tigers from doing any other big moves for the next few years. Now they have some wiggle room to add something they might really need.
  3. I like Baez a lot more than many of you do. Lets say Kreidler does look really good as a shortstop, you can move Baez around. Hinch loves those kind of guys. Maybe the different approach he took with the Mets of cutting down strikeouts and seriously raising his OBP will continue here, but even if they don't, we've made a serious upgrade at SS from what we had. Especially defensively. This is a guy that only 2 seasons ago saved 31 runs at short, which is a ridiculous number. Think how much that could help E-Rod alone. 2020 he was on a pace of about 18 runs saved. It did drop a bit in 2021, but I don't think he's deteriorating that quickly, just an off year.
  4. Wait a minute............... 1 - Retired (maybe that's why Correa didn't want to play here) 2 - Retired 3 - Retired 4 - 5 - Retired 6 - Retired 7 - Schoop 8 - Grossman 9 - Baez (Sorry, Willi) SIGN STROMAN - LETS HAVE A SINGLE-DIGIT PITCHER !
  5. And the possible departure of your manager who would probably easily get a job with a contender that is close.
  6. When the Tigers sign Carlos Correa
  7. Texas Rangers just announced they'll be moving into a new stadium in 2024 !
  8. We know why they might be skittish. They paid a lot of money to Jordan Zimmermann. They're paying a lot for an aging, slowing slugger, but that's 2 more years and then he's off the books.
  9. Well this isn't over and it won't be over until Spring Training starts - whenever that is But this team, you look at the breakdown. First Base - They have their guy of the future and he may not start with them in 22, but he will be on this team in 22 and they will ride it out with him for several years. Second Base - They've got their guy for the next two years. Third Base - Candilario is a solid MLB player. Not great, not bad. And if someone wants to trade for him, they'll probably use Kriedler as a 3b Catcher - Tucker solidified 2022. Haase is a great wild card. Rogers will be back in 23 and Dingler may never hit but he should be ready to go by 23 or 24 Outfield - Greene will likely start the season with Detroit, Robbie Grossman is an every day plus defender with some pop and a good OBP guy. Between Reyes/Cameron/Hill/Baddoo - it's "prove it" territory and nothing wrong with competition Starting Pitching could be fortified with a non-bank breaking arm Bullpen - Pretty solid, but another arm wouldn't hurt It's one really glaring weakness. And there may never be another year when so many shortstops are available. If they were to come away with nothing it would be nearly unforgivable.
  10. ♫ Here's a Story 'Bout a man named Tevor Who is just about to sign a great big deal 8 years, 220 million He'll hit after Akil. ♫ (just speculating through TV theme song)
  11. We don't know how serious they really were about Ray.
  12. He was having a bowel movement.
  13. $43.333 million. He'll be 40 when it's over. Damn.
  14. What's that HeyAbbott, What's moving to Shortstop?
  15. Well, who cares what happens now....................It's over.
  16. If that's all it's about for him, that he has to have more, then I am not sure he's the guy. I mean, if you got paid 30 a year and Seagar got 32, that's not acceptable? To me that doesn't scream "team guy". How much is enough? Ego guys like that don't really get the fanbase on their side should they struggle. Or is it that he really doesn't want to come here and only will if he gets more than every other shortstop, then I am not sure I'd want him either. He's good, but is he that good? I want him to WANT to be here. If that's not the case, go for Story or Baez. There is another angle to consider here. If you want to keep this manager around after this season, I think you'd better get a real upgrade because there's probably 3-5 good teams that are close that might come after him after this season.
  17. If they don't come out of this offseason with a significant upgrade at shortstop, Harbaugh should be fired.
  18. Or Story Or Seager Or (ducks) Baez
  19. Way too quiet, something is brewing. Something big.
  20. and it also could be Robbie Ray's agent jacking up the price for his guy. Believe nothing. The Truth Is Out There.
  21. I think you'd get Simmons before Kriedler
  22. Remember when you were a kid at Christmas and you had a hard time falling asleep and you woke up to get your presents early in the morning? Might be feeling like that tonight. Sounds like things will be fast and furious.
