  1. Got a question Do you ever feel totally worthless? Like nothing you do matters to anyone ever? That your very existence is pointless? Asking for a friend.............
  2. Who will be looking for managers next season Chicago White Sox Cincinnati Reds (speculation on the rest) Minnesota Twins - after that collapse......... Toronto Blue Jays - they were supposed to challenge Miami Marlins - not Skip's fault Free Skip Colorado Rockies - I find it hard to believe that Bud Black wants another year of this. The A's - Did Mark Kotsay compliment the fans in Oakland? Fisher will make him pay. Dear all of those teams, Chris Fetter is a terrible guy. He never showers, he makes strange animal-like noises when he eats, he picks his nose constantly and has cooties. You absolutely don't want to hire him. Ewwww. Tigers just keep him around because they feel sorry for him.
  3. The clinching game I was at was 1987. Tanana blanked the Blue Jays 1-0 as the Tigers completed a come-from-behind sweep of the Blue Jays -- all 1-run games. I went to all 3 of those games (and 2 earlier in the week). Bleacher tickets. Affordable. Mid bleachers, because of the overhang couldn't even see Larry Herndon's home run (the only run of the game). What a weekend Friday - Scott Lusader made a full-stretch diving catch to save a run or two Saturday. Jim Walewander scored the winning run from second on a base hit Sunday - Last out - meek grounder to Tanana who flipped it to Darrell Evans for the last out
  4. Y'all are slackin'
  5. By the way, I do think that Rob Manfred is going to try to force a mandate that a starter has to go 5 (or 6) innings. I don't know how you enforce that. Pitcher could just say "my arm is tired" to the ump. I think the small market teams, the low payroll teams should fight Manfred on this with everything they've got. This might be how a small market team who can't afford a bunch of high-end starters gets a chance to do what the Tigers did this year. First you tell us how many pitchers we're allowed to have and now you're going to tell us how to use them? Screw you, Rob. And it irks me to hear the Tigers lumped in as "small-market". Metro Detroit has over 4 million people. We're not a small market. And with a deeper commitment to electric vehicles and high-tech, the area population should start to see some growth in the next few years.
  6. I always wondered about the Dombrowsi/Avila regime and their lack of positional talent from our own system. Were they bad at judging talent? Were they bad at developing talent? Was it a little of both? But this run has helped me see that Al Avila may have been a decent judge of future talent, but never knew how to get the best out of that talent and develop it. He does deserve some credit for this season. A lot of guys he drafted are part of this If you look at individual stats, very few hitters are showing eye-opening stats, but as a collective it's working. The Giants team that Harris GM'd back in 2021 won 107 games. If you look at the individual stats, nothing stands out. Only 1 guy hit over .300 (Buster Posey) and nobody had more than 30 home runs (4 with 20+). Their offense was better than the Tigers this year, but they just used timely, situational hitting. The Tigers seem to be -" it's okay to go 1 for 5 - just make sure your 1 lines up with several other's 1's" Own an inning, maybe 2. People are wondering about how they are getting guys with ERA over 5 in the Minors to be under 3 in the Majors. It's all about placement. In the minors you want your prospects pithing against every kind of hitter and every kind of situation to see what you've got - you let them struggle. Hinch/Fetter only put their pitchers in situations where they are likely to thrive. This 3 starter/2 opener rotation (or even 2:3) may actually be their strategy next season because it worked so well. Having a staff of 3 starters and 10 relievers may be way to go - especially with the cost of starting pitcher. Having a 3/10 split may allow them to sign Tarik Skubal long term without nearly as much pain. It's not magical, it's surgical.
  7. I think it actually works in the Tigers favor. Keeps that underdog vibe alive.
  8. Wow. Michigan's offense is a disaster. Mullings is the only thing saving it. That Minnesota player on the onside kick was not offside, but a Minnesota player touched the ball before 10 yards anyway. Refs are in the bag for Michigan.
  9. Are they going to give Jaydn Davis a shot at QB?
  10. Minnesota touched it before it went 10 yards.
  11. What a TD catch by Minnesota................That was incredible.
  12. 27-24 now..................get ready for the Obscene Kick.
  13. That's a TD for Minnesota. If they don't overturn that call, then the refs are corrupt.
  14. That's all the tears from Michigan losing to Minnesota today
  15. Any chance Jackson Jobe starts today or tomorrow?
  16. TBS POSTSEASON BASEBALL commercial still shows a quick clip of a Twins player. Might want to update that, you losers.
  17. I just wanted to see that thread title, but yes, it does deserve it's own thread.
  18. I remember the speculation by many that 86 wins would do it............and it did. 88 would be better, regardless of anyone else's record. Honestly, I don't give a flying **** who we play. We're there, man. And whomever it is, has not been playing as well as the Tigers the last month.
  19. LOVE YOU GUYS !
  20. The Twins are still not eliminated then, are they?
  21. This was so improbable in the way that it was done that baseball wants to change the rules for starting pitcher. SCREW YOU MANFRED !
  22. Looks like Detroit in October. DAYM !
  23. YES, the person who put that together is probably 16 and an intern.
