Frank Reich, Nathaniel Hackett, and Urban Meyer were all recent white coaches who were one and done. The black coaches who were one and done were Lovie Smith and David Culley and it was by the same organization that hired a black replacement.
I mean, the defense couldn't be worse than it was against the 49ers, and they still won. The 49ers have a solid defense. Their pass defense is pretty good.
Holmes has been good at knowing which free agents to let walk. Fun fact: the Lions drafted Kerby Joseph with the comp pick they got for letting Golladay walk.
I wouldn't call him a bust. He had injuries in San Francisco. That's why he was signed to a 1 year contract. he was brought back on another 1 year near league minimum deal. Holmes likes to take those kind of flyers on players. Anzalone fell into that bucket as well. He had an injury history with the Saints and the Lions brought him in originally on a cheap 1 year deal and he has for the most part stayed healthy.
