  1. That's most likely since he never coached at any level after the Lions.
  2. Those are things you can grow from and mature. I'm just surprised there never seemed to be much interest in Schwartz even.
  3. With so many coaches getting second chances, I'm surprised Fontes or Scwartz didn't get a second chance. Say what you will about Fontes, but the Lions were competitive under him and had their best stretch of football in the Super Bowl era under him until Dan Campbell. Schwartz took an 0-16 team and got them to 10 wins and the playoffs in 3 seasons. His issues were maturity which is something you can learn and grow from. He's been a successful coordinator with multiple teams since leaving the Lions. Caldwell left with a winning record, but unless you are elite, you generally don't get a third chance. An argument could be made for Mariucci. Give him a mulligan for working under Millen. Bobby Ross coached a team to a Super Bowl, but when the coach quits on the team, that probably ends your career.
  4. I still can't believe a franchise as old as the Bears hasn't done it once. The Lions have done it 14 times. Stafford leads the way with 8, then Goff with 3, Kitna 2, and Mitchell 1. The Bears single season leader in passing yards is Erik Kramer.
  5. It's great to have Raymond back with all the punts this defense can force.
  6. Everybody was watching because they wanted to see a Lions starter get injured so all the Tuesday morning shows could say I told you so.
  7. Clinton Portis is a name I hadn't heard in a long time. he was traded to Washington in the early days of Daniel Snyder for Champ Bailey. Bailey went on to have a hall of fame career and Portis averaged about 1.5 yards per carry less with Washington. I remember when the Lions drafted Champ's brother Boss. Good times.
  8. Kwesi has been terrible at drafting. It's amazing how good the Vikings are given their poor drafts. It has to catch up with them eventually. They only have 3 picks in the draft, a 1st and two 5ths.
  9. In terms of draft picks, Holmes in 4 drafts have drafted 8 Pro Bowlers and/or alternates but we'll say 9 since if eligible Hutchinson would be a Pro Bowler. He acquired another via trade in Goff and signed 5 in Raymond, Bates, Zeitler, Montgomery, and Reader. All of those players weren't big name free agents. Only Montgomery singed for longer than two years. You could argue 6 with Glasgow, but I credit the previous regime for Decker, Ragnow, Fox and Glasgow. Holmes is averaging over two Pro Bowlers per draft and 1 in free agency per year.
  10. 7 Pro Bowlers and 11 alternates. Biggest snub is Joseph. Goff is the starter for the NFC.
  11. The Lions also had Stafford then who doesn't beat good teams.
  12. The Fontes and Potsy are the two winniest coaches in Lions history. Those must of been some happy days.
  13. Not going to lie, when the Lions signed Anzalone, I did not expect him to be an important cog in a 14-2 Super Bowl contender.
  14. If I'm the Vikings, I probably franchise Darnold. Let Darnold show he isn't a one year wonder and then sign him to a long term deal. If they do let Darnold walk, They could always bring back Cousins on a year deal while they prep McCarthy.
