  1. Reports had the Lions connected to Rankins. This probably also means the Bengals are out on Reader.
  2. He saw the 49ers try to get players to renegotiate and changed his mind.
  3. Enough. We got to keep this thread clear for all those Lions signings.
  4. I came here to check if the Lions renegotiated another contract and it’s just bickering about the bickering.
  5. It's not like Goff, St Brown or Hutchinson have signed extensions yet. Cominsky taking a pay cut doesn't affect any of them since extensions wouldn't kick in until he's off the books.
  6. No I'm not saying that. Guaranteed money is the same but the Lions can add non guaranteed money and years to entice a player with a higher total value only to come back the next year and ask them to take a pay cut.
  7. He never really had one with the Rams either. Kupp, Cooks and Woods weren't exactly jump ball merchants either.
  8. Right and then in year two they can be like either take this reduced amount or try your hand at free agency. I don't particularly think it's a good way to do business.
  9. Surprised you have the nerve after how wrong you were on Goff.
  10. Like I said numerous times, they are establishing one and will start getting a reputation. That's four players in two years and three originally signed by Holmes.
  11. They add a 2nd year at a large rate to have the player sign in the first place and then use that in year two to renegotiate. Perhaps the Lions should get better at determining players who are worthy of two year contracts.
  12. Of course it applies to Harris. He signed a two year extension and was asked to renegotiate after one year, same as Cominsky. Okwara was a 3 year deal asked to renegotiate after 2 years. Vaitai was a Quinn signing so really not applicable. Surprisingly, they didn't appear to ask Walker to take a pay cut. That indicates to me they still wanted those other players around and didn't want Walker around regardless of salary.
  13. I keep ignoring them because they are too damn long. (I didn't read past the first sentence)
  14. The Lions are establishing a pattern of giving players a two year deal when the market says one and making that 2nd year a big one and then coming back a year later and using their leverage to get you to take a lower salary. Interestingly enough, they didn't do this to the big boys who under performed like Goff in 2021.
  15. Like I've said many times now, if the Lions keep signing players to contracts and ask them to renegotiate a year later or get cut, players are going to bypass the Lions. I can see the same thing happening with Amik Robertson. He has a big 2nd year on his contract.
  16. You keep playing hardball like that and you're going to get a reputation. Ironically, that's what Quinn and Patricia said to players like Slay who didn't buy into their program.
  17. I'm just saying if the Lions continue to do it they will get a reputation. This is already an organization that has angered two hall of famers by forcing them to give back money.
  18. Yes, they spent it and then asked players to give it back.
  19. Thomas has the Campbell connection but Williams injury history isn't nearly as bad. I think receiver is an underrated need and would love a big outside receive like Williams.
  20. The Lions have until tomorrow actually before Goff's roster bonus kicks in. If they agree to a deal today, they can roll that roster bonus into a signing bonus and save on cap space this year.
  21. I'm just thinking of the flashbacks if the Lions sign a Mike Williams.
  22. That literally has no bearing on Cominsky since he will be off the books before those contracts kick in. In fact, they could have created a lot more cap space this year if they extended Goff in February.
  23. He would be a good X receiver that would compliment St Brown and Jameson perfectly. It seemed like they were interested in that type of player when they traded for Peoples-Jones.
