  1. Lot of NIMBYism in California. The state wants to build more housing, but no one wants the housing in their community.
  2. So I just learned that Ray Agnew's son is a scout for the Jets.
  3. I still contend that Dorsey is such an underrated addition to the Lions front office. This is the guy who drafted guys like Mahomes, Kelce, and Tyreek Hill and built the foundation of a Super Bowl dynasty. How goes to Cleveland and drafts Mayfield. Ward, Chubb and takes an 0-16 team to a playoff win. His issues have been working with head coaches which the Lions have not asked him to do.
  4. Holmes doesn't go after premium free agents. However, aging players who are still productive like Zeitler and Reader will sign with the Lions at a reasonable rate for a shot at the Super Bowl.
  5. Keep in mind, the Jets hired Rick Spielman for their GM search. That probably explains why Chris is interviewing for the job.
  6. The flip side is, the Lions are a Super Bowl contender with an excellent culture and will attract the top coaches and executives in the NFL.
  7. Yeah it would be unprecedented to hire a broadcaster that was a former linebacker as GM.
  8. Holmes has been underrated on the players he chooses not to bring back. Golladay was a disaster for the Giants, and the Lions used the comp pick from Golladay for Kerby Joseph. Jackson is heading that way for the Rams. Fan favorite Jamaal Williams, in two seasons with the Saints, has 470 yards, 2 TDs, and is averaging only 3.1 yards per carry. The upgrade to Montgomery has been more substantial than most people thought, and it didn't cost much more.
  9. Definitely. He will need to rename it. It's full of meth dealers in RVs, so he'll need to send them to Belize.
  10. I hope he takes New Mexico from the Mexicans.
  11. The Lions have had a franchise QB for the past 15 years. There was consternation after winning at the end of 2021 and losing the number one pick to Jacksonville. The Lions still got Hutchinson and Jacksonville is still a poverty franchise.
  12. This game was the game that changed the trajectory of the franchise. This was the game same old Lions died. The Lions have put good runs together in lost seasons before. This game was in a stadium they were 3-27 in in the prior 30 years. Rodgers was 15-1 in December and January at Lambeau. The Packers had everything to play for. The Lions then followed this game up with a win the next season at Kansas City. This was the game Campbell became Lionized, but not in the way we used to say it around here.
  13. The Lions have drafted two offensive or defensive linemen in every draft under Holmes. I like that strategy. You're bound to hit on some of the middle-round ones like McNeil and possibly Mahogany.
  14. I keep hearing this about Ragnow, but he's only missed three games the past three years and isn't even listed on the injury report.
  15. Paschal is still under contract for next year. Next year would be his last year.
  16. An underrated need is going to be DT. McNeil is going to miss most of the season. They'll need some stopgap solution. I know Calais Campbell is approaching 40, but he's still productive and could be that stopgap. Za'Darius Smith is under contract for next year. No need to bring back Davenport. Pass rusher would be a good position to target in the draft since you have Smith for next year. Zeitler may just retire especially if the Lions wins the Super Bowl. Mahogany would be the likely replacement. This is a position they can save a little cap space. Barnes, Melifonwu and Ownzurike I would bring back on short contracts. If Hutchinson's leg is healed, he'll probably get his big extension. Might as well get it done now. Beat Parsons signing his. Williams I would pick up the 5th year and kick extension talks to next year. Joseph will likely get extended. I would like to see Davis extended but we're getting a lot of mouths to feed since Gibbs, Campbell, Laporta, and Branch will be coming up for extensions.
  17. I thought Campbell should have won it in 2022 when Daboll won it. The Lions went from 3 wins to 9 wins, but Daboll won a bunch of flukey games and finished with 9 wins and won it. The Lions that year, as a 9-8 team, had a better point differential than the 13-4 Vikings. Increasing your win total and meeting expectations every year doesn't win you awards. Having a fluke season and immediately going back to a terrible team like with Daboll does.
  18. The problem with coach of the year is that it is always about exceeding expectations. The Lions had Super Bowl expectations, and they did their part by winning the division and contending for the one seed. Coaches like O'Connell and Quinn far exceeded expectations, and those are the ones who usually win.
  19. Interesting they add Jones to the roster after the game Darnold had.
  20. Probably just push it back a week so it happens during President's Day weekend. That would be better.
