  1. Paschal is still under contract for next year. Next year would be his last year.
  2. An underrated need is going to be DT. McNeil is going to miss most of the season. They'll need some stopgap solution. I know Calais Campbell is approaching 40, but he's still productive and could be that stopgap. Za'Darius Smith is under contract for next year. No need to bring back Davenport. Pass rusher would be a good position to target in the draft since you have Smith for next year. Zeitler may just retire especially if the Lions wins the Super Bowl. Mahogany would be the likely replacement. This is a position they can save a little cap space. Barnes, Melifonwu and Ownzurike I would bring back on short contracts. If Hutchinson's leg is healed, he'll probably get his big extension. Might as well get it done now. Beat Parsons signing his. Williams I would pick up the 5th year and kick extension talks to next year. Joseph will likely get extended. I would like to see Davis extended but we're getting a lot of mouths to feed since Gibbs, Campbell, Laporta, and Branch will be coming up for extensions.
  3. I thought Campbell should have won it in 2022 when Daboll won it. The Lions went from 3 wins to 9 wins, but Daboll won a bunch of flukey games and finished with 9 wins and won it. The Lions that year, as a 9-8 team, had a better point differential than the 13-4 Vikings. Increasing your win total and meeting expectations every year doesn't win you awards. Having a fluke season and immediately going back to a terrible team like with Daboll does.
  4. The problem with coach of the year is that it is always about exceeding expectations. The Lions had Super Bowl expectations, and they did their part by winning the division and contending for the one seed. Coaches like O'Connell and Quinn far exceeded expectations, and those are the ones who usually win.
  5. Interesting they add Jones to the roster after the game Darnold had.
  6. Probably just push it back a week so it happens during President's Day weekend. That would be better.
  7. Cleveland isn't far. I'm sure Watson can hook him up.
  8. Zeitler missing the game wouldn't be the worst thing with the way Mahogany played.
  9. I remember watching an NBA playoff game a couple of years ago in Atlanta vs. Milwaukee. Giannis would take a long time on his free throws, and the fans would start a countdown. I would love to see the Lions fans do a similar countdown.
  10. I've become a believer in culture and intangibles after seeing this new regime take over. Seeing the change from Patricia to Campbell and seeing the things that Anzalone does for the defense other than just running and tackling has made me a believer. Buffalo and San Francisco abused the linebackers. Chicago is poorly coached, so they didn't, but the linebackers were constantly out of position and biting hard on play action. You didn't see that against Minnesota. Anzalone QBs that defense, and it makes more of a difference than I thought.
  11. This is the issue. After only one year they gave him an extension, and then a year later fired him. I wouldn't want to work for this bipolar organization. I wouldn't even doubt if ownership pressured him into signing players so they can win now.
  12. No one good is going to want to work for a team that will fire you after a year.
  13. I believe they are looking at the clock in the stadium. So when that clock hits zero, they are supposed to then look at the ball and see if it's snapped.
  14. I don't know what the rule book officially states, but refs are supposed to watch the clock, and when it hits zero, then look to see if the ball has been snapped. There is a delay between hitting zero and snapping the ball that is built in.
  15. I remember Rod Wood said once when he became team President that he lobbied the league to finish the season at home because they kept finishing at Green Bay. Since then, the Lions have finished most seasons at home.
  16. They signed him to an extension after one year, and then fired him a year later. This is even worse than the same old Lions era.
  17. They just hired him in 2023. Who will want that job? Giving Dave Teppert a run for his money.
  18. Vikings fans aren't taking this well. The best line I've read is that Kevin O'Connell is the Kirk Cousins of head coaches and that may be the most accurate thing a Vikings fan has ever said.
