One thing that separates the good drivers from the great is understanding that being ahead and running your tires too hard is often worse than sitting back and conserving for later in the race. I’m impressed at how Max has mastered this at a young age. Lewis is probably the best ever at it but it took him much longer to get to Max’s current level. Charles is a great talent but he’s got a lot of work to do in this area. I was impressed with his honestly and humility afterwards. George could learn a thing or two from him in this area.
Ferrari leadership and strategy issues are not new. Having a car that’s capable of winning the championship is new and it’s terrible these Issues keep happening. They must make a change at the top before next year.
Whatever the issue, it’s certainly been frustrating, difficult, and painful for him which is exactly what it’s like being a starting pitcher in front of this defense and batting order.
Maybe it’s not a full rebuild. They still have some talent even though I don’t expect Mangiapane or Lindholm to put up anywhere near what they did last year. I don’t see Kadri choosing to play for Darryl Sutter.
Sucks for Huberdeau who goes from living in South Florida on a cup contender and playing on a line with one of the better Centers to a full rebuild in Calgary.
BYU, Clemson, and SC on the schedule makes it brutal. BC and UNC are wins but not total pushovers. Not the ideal schedule for a team without an established QB and lots of inexperienced talent on both sides of the ball.
I like Freeman and he’s a great recruiter but he’s got to win quick to keep the job at ND, Not much leeway when you are 36 year old black Ohio St. alum in your first ever HC gig. The AD essentially let the players pick the coach and that typically turns out poorly.
They way that NIL currently works it’s very possible for a group of boosters to start their own collective outside of the university. A group of rich UM alums could start their own program right now and start paying players regardless of what the university says. I believe something like this is already in motion at UM but I don’t know how deep it goes. A bunch of the Texas schools have had success with this type of model but they do it in conjunction with the school. NIL has a bigger impact on recruiting though if it can be done in conjunction with the program and with athletic department involvement.
Goff was good enough to build a team around to get to the playoffs and win. He may still be good enough to do this again but he needs to play better. We have no idea what he’s going to bring this year. The nice thing is the Lions have options either way. They aren’t locked into him and can dump him easily if it goes poorly this year. Goff’s play will determine the next move at QB and when they pull the trigger.
Murray can be elite if they can find a way to still incorporate his mobility and running ability into the offense and keep him upright. If they want to make him an in the pocket QB then this may go down as one of the worst signings. He hasn’t shown Russ Wilson accuracy in the pocket and his presence for such small guy is a work in progress to say the least.
