Interesting to wonder how a 1 loss Michigan or Ohio St. would match up among possible 1 loss Pac-12 teams: USC will not go undefeated the rest of the way. The combination of terrible defense (it is still a Lincoln Riley team) and Pac-12 officiating will trip them up at least once. If by some miracle they win out, they may be the biggest contender with the only blemish a 1 point loss at Utah in a game they didn’t have Jordan Addison for most of the crucial 2nd half. UCLA would be right there too but would probably need Oregon to beat Utah to qualify for the P12 championship. They would have avenged their only loss at Oregon by 15 in the championship game. They do have that ugly win against South Alabama by a single point that could be the difference in a close battle. Oregon would end up with a great resume and very strong SoS overall. There will be some very big wins in there especially down the stretch but I’m not sure if they can make up for 49-3 loss to Georgia to open the season. Would probably come down to how close the UM/OSU game ended. Utah is already out with 2 losses but they are the best friend of UM and OSU and can easily ruin some and possibly all of the above scenarios.

Last week I thought a UM win over a 1 loss Illinois team would get them in even with an OSU loss but that doesn’t appear to be so without a ton of help. Clemson and TCU would need to lose and Oregon or Utah would have to be the team to come out of the Pac. I could see UM being the 4th in that scenario if they lost to OSU.

Looking like 2 SEC teams, Winner of B1G, and either Clemson or P12 Champ or TCU

Furman is ranked high in FCS. They are better than Colorado St. and Hawaii.

I’d give us C+ and the Vikes a B+ The Vikes were able to get a quality TE to replace their inured quality TE without having to give up any draft picks. That’s a nice move for them. We were able to get something for a slightly above average player who was going to see his salary rise by $9M next year before wanting a long term deal worth much more. We were also able to improve draft position.
-
We have no idea. I took this to mean that depending on the condition, we either throw in an extra 4th or we don’t. Unknown at this point if that is correct or not.

NFL deadline day is starting to become something!
-
I understand this viewpoint but the NFL has a compensatory draft pick program and it’s quite possible they could’ve picked up an extra 3rd, 4th, or 5th draft pick had he left after next season. As it stands now, they may not actually get any additional picks from trading Hockenson. I will add the caveat that I expect the Lions to be in serious FA acquisition mode after 2023 and it’s quite possible they will acquire more FA than they lose and wouldn’t qualify for any additional picks.
-
I get this as well but the return wasn’t that strong and we are trading him in division. He’s actually in his 4th year and the team had him under control for another year. Waiting a year would’ve possibly presented some other options for the team. End of the day, I don’t hate this deal and part of me likes the fact Brad had the balls to pull it off.
-
The other option was to play the hand out a little further. Keep him and see if he could develop into an elite TE the rest of this season and next. They could try to trade him at the deadline next year too. Worst case, he walks in FA and maybe they get a compensatory pick down the road.
-
Interested to learn the terms of the conditional pick in 2024. Think it was smart to trade him but I would’ve preferred a return that included any additional picks rather than just moving up a few rounds, especially for a trade in the division.

Harbaugh’s personality probably has escalated it back up again. If this was the typical football fight with pushing and shoving, Valenti and Rico may have had some merit. What happened in that tunnel went way, way beyond. That’s not on Jim Harbaugh. There’s just no justification for that behavior at all. Period.

Week Nine: Green Bay Packers (3-5) @ Detroit Lions (1-6)

Which Lions team shows up is anyone’s guess. -
Trade deadline day. NFL still isn’t as active as the other sports but there seems to be more deals now than in the past. Hock has been rumored but I’d be surprised if the Lions bite. They’d love to move Brockers but I don’t see anyone giving up even conditional 7th for him. I wonder if teams will call on Swift and if the Lions would listen. Jamaal is an interesting name too. There could be a market for him and the team would happily take a 6th for him on an expiring contract.

Week Eight: Miami Dolphins (4-3) @ Detroit Lions (1-5)

The bottom line is this team needs to figure out how to play better in the 2nd half with the lead. The inability to close is why they are 1-6 instead of 5-2. That’s on the offense, defense, and coaching. -
You can nitpick semantics but my decision to wait until learning more of the facts before making any decisions does not support any theory. That’s fucking ridiculous. I’m done. Happy trails to you all in the political forum. I’ll stay in the Lions forum where the rational discussion still exists some of the time.

I’m still trying to find a single post in this thread that approves, supports, or gives any credence to the bizarre conspiracy theory that is out there.

I thought it was too but on replay he never touched him. Reynolds got wide open and then managed to fall down -

Miami should just run poorly on 1st and 2nd and throw the same easy 15 yard crosse they’ve competed 10 times already on 3rd. Game over. -

Not Frank’s finest moment on the sack by some journeyman DL from Ferris. -

Let’s get a clean drive with no penalties and take the lead back. Their defense is shit too. -
