Who do you want to replace Harbaugh if he goes to the NFL?

Slightly off subject but Valenti was talking about the idea of Urban landing at Auburn. How perfect of a fit would that be. He could do whatever slimy, shady shit he wanted and they would happily support and encourage it. -
They need a guy that will fall in line and can easily be pushed aside when they try to convince Payton to come back in 2023.

Evan Neal is the best player in this draft

Willis helped himself considerably at the Senior Bowl. He may even be the 1st off the board if he has a strong combine and pro day.

Getting tight with the parents is a crucial part of recruiting. -

I didn’t see that coming. -
Vax rates are probably a pretty reliable statistic to compare from state to state as one must got to some type of professional that documents the treatment. Covid rate is totally different and very difficult to accurately measure at this point. How many millions tested positive via home test or had symptoms and stayed home for 5 days without ever going to a doctor. There’s no way to account for these people. Nobody is self reporting these numbers. It’s certainly plausible that positive numbers per state are skewed not by the actual virus but the method people chose to test or get treatment.

A Lynn would’ve been great for the Lions in the Duce Staley role. It sounds like that’s what he’ll do in SF.

I think we will start to see many more ex players join the coaching ranks as the assistant money has started to skyrocket. It used to be you started on the bottom and worked their way up making next to nothing. Not as much any more especially at the college level. It’s crazy what college assistants are making these days. Since the majority of players are black, they should start to saturate the coaching ranks here in the coming years.

I think the difference is Belichick doesn’t call plays. His coordinators still do that during the game unlike Bieniemy.
-
Maybe I’m wrong here but I think the biggest reason that Bieniemy is getting left out is he’s the OC for Andy Reid and the assumption is that all of the Chiefs success is because of Reid and not Bieniemy.

Quite a thread. If true, I’d put most of the blame on the Vikings here. When an NFL team flies in an established guy after conducting an initial phone interview, that’s typically a sign of a pending deal. -

Nothing about this entire process has been clear. -

I wonder if that deal is still on the table. -

What happens if Harbaugh doesn’t get an NFL job. Does UM keep him as coach and ignore that he interviewed for another job on national signing day or do they fire him and move on? -

Finebaum has floated Stanford’s David Shaw as a wildcard. He’s struggled the past few years and it’s only going to get worse if they can’t figure out how to take advantage of the transfer portal. He should jump at the opportunity if presented. -
I’m not 100% sure either. They must interview 2 candidates and must have 1 in person interview from outside the organization. I believe the latter would also count for the former.
-
This is correct. However, they also had 2nd interview in person scheduled with Leslie Frazier the very next day that would’ve met the Rooney Rule requirement for them.
-
I am not sure if this is a calculated move to help bring about change or if it’s a disgruntled employee that was fired for not being able to get along with management lashing out. Either way, I think it’s amazingly stupid for many reasons 1) He was not a Rooney Rule interview. The Giants actually interviewed Leslie Frazier twice and had already met the requirement. His was a legitimate interview even though they had a strong front runner for the job 2) He appears to be basing his entire claim on a heresay text from Bill Belichick. He’s not in the Giants organization so anything he hears is just rumor. It’s I heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone. That’s not strong enough to make these type of clams. 3) He went on the interview. This part I just don’t get if he really felt so slighted. Makes no sense. Pull out and make a stand. This happens often actually. Don’t go to the interview as a long shot and then blow things up later when they go with the favorite. 4) He has rolled another complaint against Stephen Ross into his Giants complaint and has completely defamed Ross. Even if this is deserved, I don’t get why he’s merging a completely different issue with Ross into his complaint with the Giants and Rooney Rule. That’s a huge accusation saying Ross was willing to pay him to lose. I hope he’s got actual evidence and isn’t just saying stuff that he doesn’t have receipts for. 5) Maybe the biggest mistake is that he’s apparently gone solo on this campaign and elected to go public without gathering support from other black head coaches and assistants. Duce Staley and Aaron Glenn have both come out and said the exact opposite of Flores and they appreciate the opportunities to interview. I expect most others will say the same or offer no comment. It just makes him look more and more like the bitter employer that has gone rogue after getting fired. The entire suit seems very impulsive and not the least bit calculated. This is a huge problem for someone in a profession that requires calculated decisions and behavior. Maybe he’ll make someone a good college coach because he will never work again in the NFL.

Nothing is as dumb as the idiotic Brian Flores career killing lawsuit but the Commanders name is close.

I’ve been beating this drum for 2 months now but I’m still very confused how this went down. The true story probably isn’t so confusing but there’s so much behind the scenes that we don’t know. They best I can surmise is if UM really wanted him as their coach they couldve kept him.and if Jim really wanted to be the coach he couldve gotten what he wanted. I think both sides were only willing to budge so much and In the end both got what they wanted. The timing isn’t great for UM but portal and early signing day make it far less damaging. I don’t think that highly of Warde so I’d expect him to name Gattis instead of taking a swing at bigger names. Then again, nothing will surprise me with the crazy coaching landscape these days. -
