I'm not here to defend Putin or Pigsmuggler, but pointing out some legitimate concerns, rather than painting a rosy picture like western media has done, doesn't mean you're defending Russia. I want Russia to lose, it would be awesome if this cost Putin his leadership and in a perfect world, someone like Navalny would be swept into power. But it's important to know the reality that everything isn't coming up roses in Ukraine.

But Newsom already made the pledge and has eyes on the WH himself. He'll be pounded on by progressives if he goes back on that pledge.

Just dug up some more info... so Schiff is interested as well and Pelosi has endorsed him already. That explains why she went after Khanna as she doesn't want any attention on this situation and is hoping Feinstein can stay through to the end of her term. Schiff has a cash lead over Lee and Porter, hence he's got a pretty good shot at the open seat. A little tougher path if he's running up against an incumbent Lee.

I can't go too deep into the weeds as I don't know the exact rules that pertain to the Senate, but once a committee is set, you need either 60 votes to replace and/or add a senator to a committee. The GOP is being told she's a senator in good standing and will be back anytime. They won't support her leaving the committee to bring someone else in. If she resigns as a senator, Newsom can pick a replacement to finish her term. As the majority in the Senate, i'm not sure if the majority leader can just assign someone to replace her in the committee without that vote or not, but the GOP would have to allow the Dems to select someone. Newsom already said he would nominate a black women, so Barbara Lee would likely get picked and would have an edge going into the next election which Katie Porter already said she was running for. My guess is the democratic party doesn't want to get in the way of Lee and Porter and would like the state to determine who is Senator come 2024 and doesn't want to be seen as playing favorites.

Are you referring to Manchin? If so, he was elected and showed up. Fienstein is not able to do her job, essentially her unelected office has been acting on her behalf for at least a year, likely longer. Instead of the democratic party dealing with that, they are playing 'good ole boys network' and protecting her. As a result, changes they can make that they all want to make (federal judges) are being held up.

I never watched Newsmax or OAN, but my understanding is they 'led' this charge, Fox News just followed along. I don't see any end for them but being "Gawker-ed".

https://www.newsweek.com/dianne-feinstein-resign-democrats-judiciary-committee-1794950 Pelosi tried to squash this by calling Ro Khana a sexist for calling for her resignation, but I suspect to many democrats are getting tired of not being able to push through federal judges, despite having the votes....assuming you can show up.

Without even opening the article, or looking elsewhere for more context, my guess is Poland, Hungary, and Bulgaria all agreed to buy grain that maybe they otherwise wouldn't need as a form of assistance. Maybe they see Ukraine is successfully sending grain to countries now and this is no longer needed. What the heck, let's see what I can find out. 15 seconds later..... https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-65292698 So in short, Poland is protecting it's farmers while still wanting to work towards a resolution that will aid a country it supports.

Any AM channel that is still making money is going to be able to find a FM frequency. She might have to go to your kids to have them update the preset in her car, but that's going to be the majority of the pain point for the vast majority of AM listeners.

Hockenson sucked as a run blocker, if he was even decent there he probably would still be with the team.

By tagging him, anyone looking for something from him has a better chance of seeing your tweet. I'm assuming you're saying he's pushing anything that mentions him with some algorithm, but i'm guessing by tagging him, you're opening yourself up to more views as people search on him.

Both Mayer and Washington would be perfect for this offense though, extensions of the offensive line and still be a reliable option on passing downs. Mayer offers a little more vertical threat, so if we had a late first round pick and he was there, I'd be fine with that. If we could get Washington in the 2nd, perfectly happy with that too.

Can Detroit Find Trading Partner For Javier Báez?
ewsieg replied to UCFKNIGHT's topic in Detroit Tigers
There might be a team that is willing to take a flyer on Baez, i'm guessing a bag of baseballs and agreeing to pay for about 95% of his remaining contract might give us a low A lefty reliever that can throw 85. Hongbit's plan is ridiculous, yet probably better odds than us trading him or IMO, getting him to perform better. -
Snowden also proved that the US was spying on itself. The fact that most of the population just accepts this as 'we all know they do' doesn't mean it's ok. Rather he went about it the right way or not is absolutely a valid discussion and my guess is he would be found guilty even if he can prove he attempted to follow normal whistleblower procedures (I personally believe he did try....hard enough is another question), but that's what makes it gray to me. Assange is quite different, but still somewhat gray to me, I think he absolutely loves the anarchy that would be caused by leaks. That said, rather it's the NYT or Wikileaks website, a free press has the right to share information they believe is real. I think there is a real argument that unlike the NYT (or other media) that doesn't encourage folks to send them secret information (well, in terms of throwing out a net and hoping to get anything versus working a specific story and pursuing more info) and make attempts to disclose only pertinent information with an attempt to mitigate damage.
-
I'm not sure if you realize I agree with you on this or if your comments are associated to Snowden and Assange.
-
I still see Gray when we talk Snowden and Assange, versus black and white like you, but in this case, you're absolutely right. This is not a whistleblower/leaker situation.

https://www.freep.com/story/news/politics/2023/04/13/michigan-whitmer-gun-safety-bills-school-shooting/70041872007/ A good first step. I guess the question is will it be enforced?

If there is enough heat, a non-profit will reimburse for the trips, if someone raises legal concerns, some more wrangling will be done until Thomas is responsible to reimburse a very small portion of the trip as 'his seat'. It's almost like someone (Whitmer) already gave him an outline on how to do it.

These recent leaks actually show that Biden is cautious and concerned that Zelensky, if given the chance (long range weapons), would escalate the war by attacking deep into Russia. We're spying on him because either we don't trust him, we don't trust people around him, or regardless of trust, we're doing it anyway to ensure the best interest of the United States. That's a good thing.

I hate the idea of a former #3 pick as a backup on this team (assuming he doesn't win the job) and would love to get some picks for him. That said, conversely I love the idea that if our cap space warrants it, having a former #3 pick as a backup in a position that traditionally requires more depth than most other positions.

There is some legitimacy to this complaint, but there has been reporting about how the felony charges had to have been done (using a fed statute that he doesn't even have authority to charge on) and if in fact that is what was done here, it is weak sauce. I can say my personal opinion, I really wanted GA to be the first charges. I feel like that's the stronger case on much bigger charges.

How is this enabling?

I honestly thought it was pretty common knowledge so I didn't bother sourcing anything. Probably pointing out that democrats weren't being properly informed as well should have reminded me not to assume that on this site. https://news.gallup.com/opinion/gallup/354938/adults-estimates-covid-hospitalization-risk.aspx

You're probably right, everything is ducky.
