Absolutely true, this points again to the fact that each parties loudest portions have moved into an 'all or nothing' mentality. This is part of the radicalization of those factions. And to explain, i'm not comparing the specific views on how radical they are and trying to compare them between the parties, but the loudest and left most of the Dem part, along with the loudest and right most part of the GOP absolutely share this radical idea that if they don't get everything they want, there is no bending. The only alternative is to point and scream at the other side and claim they are destroying America.
-
You're absolutely correct, the far left portion of the Dem party didn't have enough votes to pass their very left wing bill, BUT AGAIN, they did have enough votes to get a huge bulk of it done. Instead of incremental change, they choose nada, zip, zilch. But yes, in a (pfife's) perfect world, the issue is simply they didn't have enough progressive votes to get the bill exactly the way they felt it should be passed.
-
I'm unsure how many, or if any, voters changed their affiliation to vote. Dem money went into ads supporting Mastriano over other GOP candidates though. There have certainly been situations where both sides have pushed their folks to vote in open primaries on a specific person in the other party.
-
Yes, they catered to the left so much they couldn't budge to allow it to change from extreme left wing legislation to very left wing legislation, instead, they thought so highly of their ideas regarding that legislation they let it die and decided to put an all out blitz on two of their members.
-
I'd point out, more people voting in good faith in primaries being key as well. Dems helped Mastriano in PA, not because they would have preferred him over other GOP candidates, but because they felt he would be easier to run against. Both sides have done this, absolutely ridiculous and dangerous if they lose. Dems had to convince 2 moderate dems to go along with them. Those moderate dems were actually up front on what they needed to pass the bill, instead of doing it, the party vilified them. Instead of going after the GOP, they ate themselves.

That's why Build Back Better was signed into law, oh wait.

In terms of quantity, probably, not sure that matters though. The problem isn't who has the most radicalized on their side, it's that when push comes to shove, both parties revert to focusing on 'the base' which unfortunately is carried by the loudest folks, which tend to be made up of some of the more radical folks. So regardless of who has most of the crazies, it's still the crazies that often control each of the parties or at least have a great influence on the direction.

Not all republicans want creationism and junk theories. There is a larger contingent, especially across the bible belt, that do have skewed ideas, i'll give you that. But go ahead and follow Libs of TikTok, there are some messed up folks on the left side as well. They feed/troll on each other. Most American's, regardless of political party don't want the extremes of either side.

Have you heard some of the crap he has said? I'm not saying this isn't bad, but it's lower on the list of reasons why I don't want him in DC.
-
Seems to me, this overall is low on the scale of reasons why he would be a bad choice.

I'm shocked that search results would be set in a way that the average person taking a quick look would call the information into question..... heh https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/27/politics/hunter-biden-paternity-case-child-support/index.html
-
Hunter had a child with a stripper and denied the baby she had was his. A paternity test proved otherwise. Joe Biden has made references to his grandchildren and consistently the count is one less than he really has. Last year they had stockings up for all but that same granddaughter as well at the White House.
-
Well that, plus there is that thing with a current POTUS that doesn't acknowledge one of his grandchildren.
-
I suspect the Biden family hopes this specific issue against Walker just goes away quietly.

IDK, sometimes I think I chose to be left handed because I thought it was cool to be different or something. Just got some left handed golf clubs as my baseball swing feels natural left handed, but man does it feel weird swinging them. That tidbit aside, I agree with your post.

I have no idea what was specifically looked at, but I remember they said the US and a middle eastern country were large outliers for amounts of guns and both had high amounts of mass shootings. After that though, many countries of Europe and Canada are apparently some of the highest in terms of guns to people and don’t see the same outcomes. Maybe the Bulwark? I know there are some other listeners here. I want to try and find the details now.

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/nra-real-solutions-stop-violence-bipartisan-agreement-gun-framework Reading between the lines, that to me says that the NRA doesn't believe they can bully their way out of this and are sitting back to see if there is a way to attack this. Overall good sign IMO as it looks like the NRA is back on their heels.
-
Can't remember where I heard it recently, but likely one of a few podcasts where they somewhat debunked the excess guns = more shootings and they pointed out a few countries that actually do have high rates of gun ownership without the high amount of shootings. That said, they did see a correlation between how religious a country was and how many shootings. Things that make you go hmmm....

Hearing Senate deal is expected to be announced today regarding gun laws.

Not a fan of Dixon, but I always love to see when a party is hypocritical in complaining about the opposing party being hypocrites.

I think it's entirely within ones capability to 'back the blue' and hold police accountable as well. Following in some of the comments above, I do get turned off when I see the flag with the blue line (not only desecrating the flag IMO, it makes me think of someone that will blindly back the police.) While there is certainly some issues with the police, I do think in many aspects it's getting better. In my partisan days, i'd get infuriated when cops were accused of racism for 'harassing' young black man. Growing up in an area without diversity, the complaints about getting pulled over for a made up reason, having to be respectful even if the police weren't to us, allowing them to search our cars or at least saying it's ok because saying no made us feel like we'd get written up on the imaginary '10 over' we were pulled over for, etc, to me was the cost of being young and had nothing to do with race. It took too long for me to realize that I should have been on the side of those young black man and instead of disregarding because they claimed race was the issue, look at the underlying aspect that regardless what the reason, it was wrong. I feel like most people have at least a scrutinized eye on the police now and overall that's good for our country.

RINO clowns, GTFO. Both are more conservative than Trump. The scary part is, I don't think you're lying about what you're saying, I think you believe it. As your buddy Alex Jones likes to say "You're in the cult, bro!" I don't necessarily believe Trump calculated and planned out what happened. He's not smart enough to do that. But when his rhetoric stirred up folks to the point where they did do it, he chose not to defend America, but rather sit back and cheer on a bunch of lawless dipshits. Your president that you claim is 'America first' allowed the Capitol building to be attacked and did nothing. He's a seditious POS. Biden does suck. I even voted for him as I wanted an adult in charge and he's been slow to act on just about everything. I still have a country I can be proud of under Biden though, not a failed system which we would have had if Trump got his way. Additionally, you and every GOP member that backed Trump, you are just as liable for the issues going on today. Biden wouldn't have beaten a decent GOP candidate. But the GOP is to weak and chicken shit to check Trump and is happy to walk towards Fascism under him.
-
It's not that he was unavailable, it was that he was looking at what was happening at the Capital as an opportunity to remain president. He didn't want to stop what he thought would allow him to remain in power. Now let's just hope the 1/6 commission has built a strong enough case that Garland runs with it.
-
Don't mistake my dislike of Democratic policies and assume i'm a Trump fan. Let's just say the only thing that could change my mind with these hearings would be the sentence he should receive. I am still siding with just letting him die in jail in an attempt to not make it any more political.

Serious question, did you think my statement was sarcastic?
