  1. Ibanez joins the party pew pew
  2. Shep commenting Tork has 19 HR since June 27. Most in the AL in that period. One more than Ohtani. A few guys in the NL have 21.
  3. Boo birds ready for a pitching change.
  4. Nevin did something! And it wasn't at Toledo.
  5. Malloy in the lineup at third tonight, I believe for the first time since he was pulled early the other day.
  6. Check out his and Carpenter's 2nd half splits. Tork's OBP is 100 points higher than his average. His walk rate is over 11% and Carp's is less than 8%. Carpenter's BABIP is .370 and Tork's is .256. Otherwise their numbers are very similar. Tork really does seem to be unlucky on balls in play this year. That is promising for what they might be capable of next year.
  7. Manning fracture, season over.
  8. Baddoo with a 406 foot out and Meadows with a foul bomb. Game of inches.
  9. Maton with a cycle in the seventh inning for Toledo.
  10. Manning's injury in April was to the pinky toe side of his right foot. This time it looked like it hit the heel but it seemed like he thought something was wrong after he threw the ball to first. The first one was multiple tiny fractures and he was out for two months.
  11. Manning hit by a comebacker. Hopefully he's ok.
  12. I'll make the same mistake next year.
  13. Spring training next year is wide open. Nobody should be guaranteed anything. That will be the time for the young guys to show what they can do. This year is farewell to Miggy and see what the fringe guys have got. Then Miggy is gone and roster decisions can made on guys who aren't worth bringing back. Also have to consider which guys need protection from the rule V draft.
  14. I haven't given up on Harris but I am skeptical after going through Avila's 5 year, 6 year, forever plan. I know it's probably going to take another few years for Harris to turn the team into contenders. He seems to be adding good young talent which I agree with. Those young players aren't going to reach their potential right away. Few rookies come up and become impact players in their first year or two. Some may take three or more years. Harris will get his chance for the next few years and I will try to be patient but I will not put him on a pedestal.
  15. Nevin and Lipcius can play part time. Malloy and Keith need full time work in AAA.
  16. I forgot about Comerica Park changes. I really like how they moved in and lowered the wall. Many dynamic plays at the wall already and some extra home runs. I'm not sure about other changes since I don't go to the park. I wonder if people who go have noticed any changes under Harris.
  17. So they are using Wentz as the fifth starter instead of Faedo?
  18. Faedo out of the rotation?
  19. https://www.audacy.com/971theticket/sports/detroit-tigers/scott-harris-will-hire-detroit-tigers-general-manager I expect him to do what he said he would do especially since he goes on and on about how complex these jobs are and how valuable more talent is in the front office.
  20. Harris has been here about a year now. This offseason is going to be a big test for him and we'll have to wait and see how that goes. Until then, I'd like to look back at what he's done so far. McKinstry - late addition before the season started. He's been forced into a full time role but I like him as a bench player next year. Good defense and base running give him a positive WAR according to Fangraphs. Lorenzen - great signing and able to flip him at the deadline. Did exactly what they said they would for him and he appreciated it. Have to be happy with that as a selling point for future signings. Holton - maybe the steal of the offseason. Really impressive rookie year from an unexpected player. Made the best out of Chafin's decision to leave. Vierling - absolute monster June. Second highest wRC+ in baseball behind Ohtani. Otherwise, he's been mediocre and would have a negative WAR. Maybe a bench role for next year but shouldn't be guaranteed. Maton - flopped. Left in the Majors too long. Failed trade of ERod - I wasn't impressed. I thought it was a big failure on Harris' part and ties in with: Said he would sign a GM - said he would and hasn't. Another failure IMO. Leonard - did manage to get Leonard at the deadline for cash which looks like a potential steal. Malloy - looks like a good return for Jimenez. Draft - I was happy with the draft but we will have to wait and see. How would you evaluate Harris? Edit almost forgot Rumored to have almost traded Rogers - not impressed! One of my favorite players. Purely sentimental because we don't know what the return would have been.
