Question—would acquiring Bednar, Keller and Suarez have prevent this current slide? We really haven’t blown any saves, so Bednar would have not impacted. Suarez is one bat in an entire lineup that isn’t hitting. His power would probably not be as strong in Comerica and his D is not great. Keller might have kept them competitive every 5th game. The reality is that this team has so many flaws that even adding three significant pieces would not be enough to turn things around.

Think they solved their soda machine crisis for the season.

Is it? Small sample size and I think circumstances factored in. No college bats this year worthy of our first pick. And with Clark and McGonigle 1-2 in Law’s recent prospect rankings, seems those choices are working out.

Hope some are salvageable. Always a crapshoot with pitchers.

I don’t think it is, nor anyone else here likely. But their flaws are being exposed right now with no aspect of their game working. As inexplicable as last season’s finish/this year’s start was, so is the current tailspin. This is not an “all in” roster. Make moves that will help this season and beyond, trading from organizational depth—no rentals, unless the price tag is so low it’s hard to say no.

Not sure, but haven’t seen Paul Wilson nor Ethan Schiefelbein either.

This team does not look like one that will make the postseason, unless the Guardians do become sellers—which would be foolish of them.

If this slide continues, it could impact what they are willing to do.

A couple of trades isn’t going to fix this.

Barring some collapses, I think our OF for the foreseeable future is already in the organization (and doesn’t include Bigbie or Campos). We may supplement with a part-time corner guy, but I don’t see a big OF acquisition coming.

Rainer is our future SS, not McGonigle, who likely ends up at 2B. Yost is very far away and might eventually push Rainer to 3B. I’d put Bryce in the rare untouchable tier, with Clark and McGonigle.

Regardless of his injury status, I don’t see the Tigers dealing Rainer.

I don’t blame either Boras or Skubal. Don’t have to like it, but both are just doing their jobs.
