Would not be surprised to see Holmes trade down during the 1st round to get another pick or two.

The Miggy decline years definitely saddled Avila and the Tiger managers of that era. They were in a no-win situation. I think Harris, if he had been in control, would have cut him prior to 500 HR and 3K hits. He doesn’t strike me as anyone who cares about tradition or nostalgia.

No one inherited a worse situation than DD did. Those were bleak days as a Tigers fan.

Of course, why is this even being debated? Even Ilitch Jr would shoot him out of a cannon if he suspected that Harris was phoning it in with the Avila holdovers.

Might have helped his Hall chances.

I’m not defending Harris’ performance (which I agree has been spotty), but his motives. I disagree with the notion that he doesn’t care about the active roster and only for the players he’s drafted.

We thought this last year, and I’d say they all rose to the challenge. I think the microscope is more on Meadows and Keith this season.

Seems like he has consistently signed team friendly deals. Must be nice for the Guardians fans. And horrible for us—7 more seasons of this Tiger Killer.

Greene is only 25. We’d be trading for more Riley’s that we hope could hit 30 HR’s

Flaherty still has his remaining. We could end up with both Mize and Flaherty in ‘27.

Would be interesting to see if they gave Mize a QO. If he had a similar season to this, he’d likely accept.

If it plays out that we end up getting a Comp pick for a Skubal exit, the poor player that gets selected will be unfairly scrutinized by podcasters, local radio personalities and casual fans.

I would prefer not to burn a pick to sign a guy for one season or allow for an early opt-out, but would be worth it to get a good starter committed for a few seasons. Especially since we could lose Skubal, Mize and Flaherty after next season.

What evidence do you have that he doesn’t care about the current team? Really bad take. And he’s not trading Skubal at the deadline if the team is in contention—if they were committed to extracting value for him, they’d do it now when he is most attractive in trade.

Denny McLain should never be in the position of questioning anyone’s motives.

He was a deserving All-Star based on his first half. Still think he can be a solid #3, with #2 upside. Just needs to stay healthy for an entire season.

Btw, I like the Mets offseason so far. Peralta, Semien, Polanco, Robert Jr. will be interesting to see how this comes together. And they still have the prospect capital if they wanted to make a push for Skubal now or at the deadline.

If only Lou had embraced the green St Pats Day uniform in spring training, he’d be in by now.

I don’t buy the logic that because Whitaker isn’t in then Kent doesn’t belong either. Kent is a clear cut HOF on his own merit. Whitaker should be in, too, but the veterans committee have an attitude towards him. I suspect they care very little for WAR and probably view it with disdain. Lou was a bit squirrelly during his playing days and that probably rubbed his fellow players the wrong way. Hopefully this will be righted eventually.

any Ty Madden news? Would be nice to get any contribution from him this season.
