  1. Yeah, but was your WAR?
  2. Given that he probably wears a size 7 women’s cleat, would there be any other type of surgery?
  3. I really hope Carly hyphenates her name, as well. Congrats Sawyer—nicely done.
  4. Edman desperately and admirably trying to shift the conversation to potential player transactions only to be dismissed by the WAR squad. Pretty sure I can speak for Idaho Bert and I when I say, thank you.
  5. As I wait for Gehringer’s response, here is a 20-year old Briceno’s performance at High A/AA
  6. Are you suggesting Briceno is a bust?
  7. Not suggesting that, just that he would be part of a platoon there if they got another OF without moving him.
  8. I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised, though I think it will be on the pitching side. If Torres signs, I don’t see any other significant infield additions with McGonigle, Lee and Anderson lurking. Maybe Jung, too, if he can bounce back next season in Toledo. Maybe we’ll see a CF or RF upgrade, with Carp moving to DH.
  9. Geez, we are in desperate need of any transaction at this point.
  10. His OPS was .666 last season. He’s done. McKinstry and Baez are better options at this point. If we think this team needs a mentor, let’s find one that can still hit.
  11. I’m not sure he’s an upgrade at this point in his career over what we have in the mix at 3B. A lot hinges on whether or not Torres comes back.
  12. I see McGonigle at 2B if Torres leaves or 3B if he stays. Adding Bichette and McGonigle’s bats should be an upgrade to our lineup. Odd man out? Colt Keith, though he could end up at DH
  13. Houston? The team that had a cheating scandal that alienated many MLB players? Also the same team that was too cheap to re-sign their homegrown superstars (Springer, Correa, Bregman) and who were knocked out of the playoffs the last two seasons by the Tigers?
  14. Let’s not forget that Skubal pitched 6 innings in Game 5. Then sat home and watched Yamamoto pitch in two consecutive WS games so his team could win the series. When Tarik can go 7 innings in an elimination game, I’ll take his desires a bit more seriously.
  15. Bichette is probably the better fit—no clear internal answer at SS for the next 3 seasons. Baez can fill in at 2B, SS and CF, basically a RH utility complement to McKinstry.
  16. I enjoy the Hot Stove. But liked it much better when the majority of moves were completed by Christmas. Now things drag a long too far into February.
  17. I respectfully disagree. The team that is competitive and has the best offer gets him. We benefit from being a playoff team, but he will chase the best deal. Being a union leader and with the Boras Corp basically ensures that.
  18. I don’t see many, if at all, national endorsement deals for baseball players, beyond Ohtani. I never see Judge, Trout, etc.. in any commercials or sponsorships. Skubal is the best pitcher on the planet, and he’s schlepping local Cure Insurance. I don’t think endorsements will factor in much for a guy like Bregman, who at best, will get a local car dealership, regardless of the market he selects.
  19. ? The team has been on the cusp of the ALCS the last two seasons with largely a young, inexperienced team. And three recent players, who played significant time for the Tigers, will likely be first ballot HOF’ers. Detroit has amazing suburbs, payroll flexibility, a respected manager and coaching staff, young players who should only get better and an excellent chance at sustainable winning with one of the best minor league systems. The only negative is the weather in April. I suspect most players can look past that.
  20. Detroit is an attractive option—young team that is already playoff tested with a lot of payroll flexibility. Remember that the only reason the Bregman deal with Detroit fell apart was their insistence that he receive an opt out after the first year, which the Tigers did want to give. If he gets the deal he’s looking for, I can see him coming here.
  21. This is unexpected. Congrats, Riley! Hopefully we get a hat trick with Cy Skubal.
