Think this would with with chorizo, too? I don’t think I’ve ever had it in a chili.

Week Twelve: New York Giants (2-9) @ Detroit Lions (6-4)
Tenacious D replied to MichiganCardinal's topic in Detroit Lions
When does baseball season start? -
This should help our hitter’s efforts to be more patient and selective.

The best advice is to ignore any specifics when it comes to contract or trade speculation. Too many journalists, professional or amateur, are desperate for relevance and livelihood, so reporting standards have completely slipped. And that goes for the guys at the Freep and Det News, too. Enjoy it for entertainment value, but don’t take as gospel.

Things I believe: -Avila was not nearly as bad as he is often made out to be. -Harris has not yet demonstrated that he is the wunderkind that some claim. -Both contributed to the last two seasons postseason success. -Ilitch is not cheap, and if we’re not spending to some people’s expectations on the MLB roster, that is Harris making those decisions. -Jim Campbell never should have traded Jason Thompson for Al Cowens.

The more obvious opportunity to improve our offense is in the outfield, either CF or RF. I’d still pursue Luis Robert in the hopes that he can get back to his previous self. Meadows, Lee and Miller?

Randy Jones of Padres fame passed away at 75. If you’re a Tigers fan of a certain age, you probably recall him facing off against Mark Fidrych in the’76 All Star game. In addition, his ‘fro was majestic. RIP, Randy.

Yeah, but was your WAR?

Edman desperately and admirably trying to shift the conversation to potential player transactions only to be dismissed by the WAR squad. Pretty sure I can speak for Idaho Bert and I when I say, thank you.

Are you suggesting Briceno is a bust?
-
-
Not suggesting that, just that he would be part of a platoon there if they got another OF without moving him.

I think we’ll be pleasantly surprised, though I think it will be on the pitching side. If Torres signs, I don’t see any other significant infield additions with McGonigle, Lee and Anderson lurking. Maybe Jung, too, if he can bounce back next season in Toledo. Maybe we’ll see a CF or RF upgrade, with Carp moving to DH.
-
Geez, we are in desperate need of any transaction at this point.

His OPS was .666 last season. He’s done. McKinstry and Baez are better options at this point. If we think this team needs a mentor, let’s find one that can still hit.
-
I’m not sure he’s an upgrade at this point in his career over what we have in the mix at 3B. A lot hinges on whether or not Torres comes back.
-
I see McGonigle at 2B if Torres leaves or 3B if he stays. Adding Bichette and McGonigle’s bats should be an upgrade to our lineup. Odd man out? Colt Keith, though he could end up at DH

Houston? The team that had a cheating scandal that alienated many MLB players? Also the same team that was too cheap to re-sign their homegrown superstars (Springer, Correa, Bregman) and who were knocked out of the playoffs the last two seasons by the Tigers?
-
Let’s not forget that Skubal pitched 6 innings in Game 5. Then sat home and watched Yamamoto pitch in two consecutive WS games so his team could win the series. When Tarik can go 7 innings in an elimination game, I’ll take his desires a bit more seriously.
-
Bichette is probably the better fit—no clear internal answer at SS for the next 3 seasons. Baez can fill in at 2B, SS and CF, basically a RH utility complement to McKinstry.
