Ahhh—got it. And you’re correct. In both cases, it was front office ineptitude. I think if Trout ever gets dealt, it would be to his hometown Phillies. His contract and health would make that very difficult, though.

I don’t see the parallels. Trout has been ravaged by injuries, but keeps rehabbing and trying to get back on the field.

For all of you Tiger podcast listeners, I had no idea the bearded one is Kieran. How does a guy who has a beard sound like his balls still haven’t dropped yet. His voice belongs with Cody’s face. This is really messing with me.

I don’t think Javy blocks anyone long term. Tigers are going to extract as much value out of him that they can, before cutting ties once a minor leaguer pushes his way in or Sweeney excels.

Definitely not counting on anything, but how cool would it be if he could contribute this season? Even in a platoon facing primarily LH pitching.

I remember reading that Tork might have played 3B at AZ State, but they had fellow future Tiger Gage Workman at third, and he was the better fielder.

Why would we want Arenado for 3 seasons? I like what Scotty had to day today regarding Bregman:

The playoff team that added Torres and have multiple rookies with a year/partial year under their belt? And the lineup that will benefit from full seasons of Carp, Greene and Meadows? We’re good

Small sample size for Jung, but he outhit Colt Keith based on how they both started their careers. And Jung was performing with a bum wrist.

His lifetime BA at Comerica is .220. And he has an opt out after this season. Where would you go to reestablish your value in hopes of a better contract?

I don’t believe anything that was reported. I really doubt we offered him 6 years—I suspect our offer was similar to the Red Sox.

Let’s all collectively get on with our lives now. And avoid X for at least a few days. The narrative will be that Ilitch cheaped out, which we know to be false. I’m glad we didn’t let Boras play us like he used to, when he’d go around Dombrowski to get to the old man. Bregman was never signing a 3 year (or less) deal to play in Comerica. Fenway is a good park for him and I suspect he’ll hit well there. Good riddance—if we don’t make a trade, I’d be good with Vierling, Wenceel and Ibanez in some sort of RH platoon with Carpenter and Jung.

I think Boras and Bregman don’t have the offer they had hoped for, (and are likely worse than what Houston had originally offered) and now they are scrambling.
