  1. I thought I had read somewhere that his knee could not be repaired surgically.
  2. you missed, "ideal world." Which we're clearly not living in, so at least one of them will likely remain.
  3. agree--it really is just a fairly obvious and desirable outcome for the next 5 years of Baez' contract. Anyone who has seen the guy play SS this year recognizes he shouldn't be counted on to be there for the duration of his contract. Now go and sign the guy we should have in the first place, Mr. Harris.
  4. where are you seeing this? I think any defense of Schoop is damning--just a comparison to Candelario and who is a better fit moving forward. In an ideal world, we cut both loose.
  5. I really don’t care about avoiding that milestone. Next to 2003, this might be the worst year of Tigers baseball for me in my lifetime. They deserve to lose 100+
  6. for our team, I believe Schoop > Candy. I used to be one of Candy's biggest cheerleaders, but I'm over that shit. Both have been infuriating, but I think Schoop has the better chance of bouncing back next season.
  7. wow--those are amazing batting averages. Should have won more games.
  8. As a fellow Fresno State alum, I am actively rooting for Judge to break every record there is (including all pitching ones). And from now on, I have a new enemy. He cowardly hides behind the moniker, chasfh.
  9. if we don't move on from guys like this, we might end up with the same roster. Haase, Reyes and the Castro boys could all be back as our bench (and hopefully nothing more than that). from a starting position standpoint, the opportunity to upgrade (assumes Tork and Greene are being counted on in 1B and CF and stuck with Miggy at DH), are at 2B, 3B, C and one of the corner outfield spots. If you bring back Candy and Schoop in a starting capacity, you are really only changing out C and one outfield spot. I'd be fine with going with Jake Rogers and Haase at C. Let's go get a real SS and LF. Move Baez to 2B and keep Schoop for UT (1B/2B/3B). bye bye, Candy.
  10. he better be a Diet Pepsi guy.
  11. Agree—unfortunately, the Castro Boys have been better options than others.
  12. Demoted him? He’s still in the mix. I’d rather have him as our 4th OF, instead of Reyes.
  13. If we can help prevent the ChiSox from a wild card spot, that’s something.
  14. It’s a good list. I’d probably add Candy to it.
  15. So, dumpster diving? Who is on the farm that we’re waiting for? Jung, Keith, maybe Meadows? Are you suggesting this likelihood because we have few tradable assets (which I don’t disagree with)? That’s why I like bailing teams like the Padres and Yankees out of some shitty contracts with some of their better prospects. Yankees SS situation, as someone previously brought up, is a prime example.
  16. Constants for next years lineup (barring any my trades): C-Haase, Rogers 1B-Tork 2B-Schoop SS-Baez CF-Greene DH-Cabrera Meadows is under contract, but given his mental health challenges, can’t be counted on. Baez could move to 2B, with Schoop moving to 3B or UT role, depending on other moves. Would be shocked to see Candy or Barnhart brought back. Reyes and the Castro boys are less likely. Doubt we’d count on Kreidler, Clemens, Baddoo or Carpenter to be significant contributors. I believe Harris will focus on SS, LF and 3B, in that order.
  17. Volpe or Peraza and Donaldson for Candy and Kreidler? Hear Josh is a douche, but I could tolerate him to upgrade at SS.
  18. how do you explain the performance of the veterans? Schoop, Candelario, Barnhart, Baez? That's a lot of veterans who played beneath recent seasons. Consensus top prospects in Tork and Greene? Not sure we can blame Hinch for this, but it's not as though the team was littered with AAAA players.
  19. I don't follow the Giants or the NL that closely, so don't know many of the names that were acquired, either via trade or waivers, but the list appears to be underwhelming. I remember the Cozart trade--it was suggested here by a few that that was the type of trade that the Tigers should make--take on a bad contract to get a good prospect in return. No idea how that panned out with Will Wilson, though (too lazy to look).
  20. according to their Twitter account, this is the first time in their history that they have made it this far? I like their chances in a short series, with Flores and Olsen getting starts. Unfortunately, Madden looks like he might have hit a wall in his first full season of play.
  21. This contract did not set back anything for the Tigers. A lot of hyperbole here.
  22. Gum Time, part deux? I’d be OK with that.
