  1. Perhaps, but this might be his best and only window to show what he can do at the ML level. Once Tork comes up, I think the starting infield will be Tork, Schoop, Baez and Candy. Not a lot of AB’s will be available in the infield.
  2. Paredes is still younger than both Tork and Clemens. Maybe that’s not super important, but at 22, I suspect they aren’t ready to give up on him. His low K, high BB % make him a bit of a rarity.
  3. I think Paredes is playing 2B, if Tork doesn’t make the team out of ST.
  4. I don’t like his attitude
  5. unfortunately, Willi Castro got the shitty one all last season.
  6. I have no problem if Baez opts out. 2 yrs/$47M in his prime? Yes, please. However, I doubt he’ll do it.
  7. Nico Goodrum will be out there.
  8. they could non-tender Reyes. And I'd be OK with that. There are five guys ahead of him going into next season, though he would be a nice safety net at Toledo.
  9. Wonder who in the org called Zach Short? Must have been a difficult call.
  10. For the record, I broke this news before MLB Trade Rumors. That’s how dedicated I am to all of you.
  11. Agree on all fronts. After signing Baez, it will be interesting to see if they spend anything else this offseason.
  12. Our lineup next season, once Greene and Tork join, is going to K a lot, but the power will be fun. 1. Grossman 2. Greene 3. Candelario 4. Cabrera 5. Schoop 6. Baez 7. Torkelson 8. Barnhart 9. Hill/Cameron/Baddoo
  13. Stroman and Rodan are still out there, but I don’t see us out bidding the Dodgers, Yankees or Mets, all who have a need for SP.
  14. The Schoop signing at $7.5M is now looking like a real bargain over the next two seasons. A lot of power, good glove and lack of plate discipline for our new double play combo.
  15. Baez turns 29 this week, so this deal would take him to age 35.
  16. Saw on Twitter, but can’t confirm, that it would be 6 years/$140M.
  17. Stumbling in here late—did we land DeJong yet?
  18. You’d think Tigers PR was doing a Twitter Takeover, but it’s just Lynn being Lynn.
  19. I hate all of you for putting me in the position to defend Avila, but we were celebrating that he had struck quickly to address C and SP. We really don’t know where negotiations are with many players who are still out there. The frenzy over the last two days makes it seem like we’re being left behind, but that may not be the case. I won’t say “trust in Al” (ever), but we shouldn’t despair either.
  20. you might be right. I don't understand the panic. There are other ways to solve for your SS. I'd still like to see us grab Story, but it's likely going to take close to a Semien deal to get there, which I'd be fine with. Correa is going to get 10 years/$350M. Not sure Taylor is good enough to play SS full-time--if that's the case, why spend that much for him to fill in as a super utility guy? I prefer we don't spend on the OF this year--I'm good with Greene and Grossman in the corners, and Hill, Cameron and Baddoo battling it out in CF.
  21. not advocating it, but if the Tigers decide to pivot and spend on an elite pitcher (vs. one of the elite SS), they might consider trading for an elite SS prospect.
