  1. I don’t think so, plus I doubt we see him this season as I don’t believe he’s on the 40-man (and they’ll already need to make room for Turnbull and Rogers). Clemens has raked since being sent down and should get the nod.
  2. Clemens coming back up? We don’t have a 1B on the team.
  3. Ironically, you would have thought the position player would have the less risky.
  4. Agree with this. The pitchforks on Twitter calling for his firing wreak of laziness and group speak. I’m not his biggest fan, but I did approve of recent trades, signing and picks. This team has been victim of some rotten luck.
  5. I think there is zero chance that Miggy is playing baseball in 2024, for the Tigers or anyone else.
  6. That was a good trade and great initial contract. The length of the extension was very questionable, but it has ultimately worked out. He’s not blocking anyone and has given the fans some very memorable moments and distraction from the on-field product the last two seasons. Personally, I’m glad he’s retiring a Tiger—would not have wanted to see him elsewhere.
  7. I really don’t see them rushing anyone at the risk of further injuries. I don’t recall a precedent for that—always felt the team took a conservative approach in these situations. They clearly don’t care about fan sentiment, so I doubt that would be any influence.
  8. I don’t see Ilitch ever firing Avila. I think all we can hope for is that Al gets better at his job and some of the recent external hires, including Hinch, exert much more influence over personnel decisions.
  9. I disagree with this—his not being here has certainly helped contribute to our record this year. Additionally, we still have half a season left to figure out where the innings are going to come from. Our young guys may need to be reduced, making it more difficult to manage the innings required to finish a season. There is zero silver lining to this situation for the Tigers.
  10. Anything good on the tee-vee tonight?
  11. Would help if it 1) college baseball had a much larger following and 2) teams could trade picks.
  12. Even if we can successfully void, it’s not a win. There is an opportunity loss, considering we might have acquired a different starter last offseason, not to mention having to surrender our 3rd round pick next week.
  13. Anyone who speaks Lynn care to translate that tweet for me?
  14. We’ll look back as the day when the Tigers turnaround became real.
  15. Notably having SS Peyton Graham and P Cade Horton (both Oklahoma) ranked very high. I saw a mock (pre-CWS) that had us taking Graham in the 2nd round.
  16. Shouldn’t we be aiming higher? Comparing anyone to our hitters is an incredibly low bar.
  17. I’d avoid Susac, too. Sounds like a guy who could be “Munsoned” (Eric).
  18. I think 4-5 will be (Cross and Jung likely gone).
  19. 1. Cross 2. Jung 3. Crawford 4. Prielipp 5. Porter 6. Young
  20. It would wreak havoc with the 40-man, but I’d love to see similar roster upheaval for the Tigers vs Jays. A bit of a cautionary tale for any AAA players to make sure they are all vaxxed, if presented the opportunity for a COVID-related call-up.
  21. The first round should not be used to draft potential bullpen arms. If you draft a pitcher you should have some confidence that he can be a starter, until proven otherwise later.
  22. Charlie Montoya is wishing he could have made it a few more days to manage against KC’s AAA team.
  23. We can't shy away from pitchers. I can't imagine that is a good formula for success. Injuries are more commonplace now, which is probably why you need to double-down on pitching to make sure you have enough when a few of your guys are out for an extended period of time. If you go with BPA, it will keep you honest and always ensure you are stocking the minors with the best players (in your estimation). My concern with the Alabama LHP is he doesn't have much of a track record to go from (he did not pitch many college innings before his TJ surgery, and few, if any, were against SEC schools, so not sure how much he was tested. If there is a positive to him, he did get his TJ out of the way. I just hope the Tigers think the BPA is a position player who gets on base to help at the top of the order. We're already set throughout the organization with guys who will strikeout 25-35% of the time.
  24. Can’t speak to that—he does seem to be knowledgeable, but no idea what his connections or sources are.
