Did Badoo call him off the play ?

I do not understand this lineup. Our best outfielder is playing third base, our best third basemen is playing first base and our two worst outfielders are both in the game together when a better outfielder is the DH. Did I get that right ? Maybe the worst outfield arms in the game all playing together with Perez on the bench. Why not.

The “ calculated risk “ move is Skubal hard as it would be. He is a Boras client and we will not extend him at their price. He has two additional years of control and is currently at peak value. So I call Baltimore and entice their new owner with an opportunity to win it all this year while they still have Corbin Burnes and offer Skubes and Jung for Jackson Holiday and Colby Mayo both of which are blocked at the major league level with Gunner and Westbrrg. This solves the left side of our infield with player the same age and control as Max Clark, McGonigle , Briceno, Jobe, Colt Keith, Riley Greene and Olsen. Giving us a solid core of players in key up the middle positions on the cheap leaving $$$ to add pitching or what pushes us over the top.

They are and rebuild is a nasty word in my vocabulary. How about we just keep trying to incrementally get better. Just add more short term veteran additions in free agentcy and let the rookies work their way in. Stop the anointing. Trade from surplus once achieved. Build your team plan with pencil not pen and be flexible.

How much is Flaherty worth on the open market ? What would he command in free agency? Should we extend him and for how much ?

Javy is huge disappointment for sure but he does have value over and beyond the numbers. Defense, base running tags and he actually hits better with runners in scoring position. No reason to eat that contract.

Kreidler can't hit and Leonard can't play shortstop and maybe can't hit either. They are not the answer.

Would it make any sense to just platoon Tork for the next 6 weeks and if he starts hitting left-handers begin playing him against some righties and if success maintains then playing him full time again. Perhaps doing all of this as a DH as well. Try to find incremental success at the major league level.

Don't forget the LA GM..Freidman and a very good one...got hosed also as he ended up with fricken Lance Lynn as his mid season pick up who got slaughtered in the playoff. Erod/Agent were very unprofessional . It was a calculated last minute hold up if local LA talk radio is accurate. but nobody knows for sure except them. Anyways glad he is gone.

But I fear you are correct and I would be hesitant to go 6 years with pitcher as well.

I'm sure he would be happy to stay with his new found success coming in Detroit.

If he can hit for power we have another foundation piece. Which makes two with Greene and two more close in Tork and Keith. If those four are solid solid by years end that’s huge.
