So most folks want Miggy for 2023. What if his line is .260 .290 .310 do you still want him ? And Meadows is playing crap defense in the outfield to accommodate him at DH. And Hinch doesn’t have the guts to bat him 8th. And his legacy as a great HOF player is tarnished. Still want him ? I sure as heck hope this doesn’t happen but I think we should get ahead of it so we have the off-season to shop and trade for something much much better. He has his 500 home runs his 600 doubles and his 3000 hits everything else is not really a mile stone marker. he’s made his case for the Hall of Fame and then some .time to move on people otherwise are we really serious about winning?

Statistically and Historically I agree with you That Miggy still belongs but my point is 500 abs are going to the past and not to the future and we need to accelerate getting or "testing" players that might help us post 2023. Playing Miggy full time next year hinders that. Plus the bottom could drop out on him at any moment or off season. Look I really like Miggy he's OUR Hall of Famer and I enjoy him but I think the development of the product could use the AB's for younger players.

I hope Miguel retires this year because the Tigers pay him to not play in 2023. I know not likely but he could very well slide statistically these last 70 games and realize he is looking at a .250 singles hitter for next year and his pride takes over. The team is better without him and with an open dh and bigger bench.

All I can say is if the "Tigers" lament about the injuries and bad luck causing this and bring back the same management and team next year then disappointment will quickly turn to hopelessness. I just don't think Chris Illitch cares very much about his baseball team and retaining Al Avila will only reinforce my suspicion.

His arm is worn out from pitching so much this season even with a 100 man pitching staff and daily minor league shuttles. Can’t afford TJ.

Wow Miggy has an 8 million buyout of his 2024 contract. So 40 million on maybe average production from a DH for 2023. Avila is bad but DD is overrated also. Way overpay for Miguel. Let Max walk and then Al trades Verlander for trash. Sure wish we would have just paid Max and Verlander and offered Miggy a more team friendly extension. Revisionist evaluation for sure but out of the three the Tigers made the wrong decision on all of them.

I think he is already challenged at AAA but yes these are desperate times indeed.
