  1. Probably why it only lasted two years! Without Photoshop then, maybe it was a head of it's time! LOL
  2. 1907 AC Dietsche Postcard, Ty Cobb - Beckett says $150-300, condition pending.
  3. I don't remember, that was a decade ago. Do you still have them? πŸ€ͺ
  4. Want to shorten the game by 30-45 minutes? Maybe longer? Reduce the 4-5 minute commercial breaks between every half inning to a minute each.
  5. Weird fact about year 1 of USFL 2.0 - all games for all teams will be played at one location. All team are expected to play in their respective regions in year 2.
  6. The Portland Tigers would be dead to me. Go Wheels!!
  7. The reason there were less of the last series or two is because no one hardly bought them. By that time of the year, it had turned to football season and all the kids were buying football cards instead of baseball cards.
  8. Very true. Should it be though? Should the MLBPA umbrella protect minor league players also?? I am not aware of a association for minor leaguers.
  9. This is the only real player issue I see today. Minor leaguers are typically paid below poverty level. They were better compensated with the minor league reorganization last year but there is still a long way to go. Minor league coaches also.
  10. There were 15 pitchers in 2019 that had 200+ innings. 2021 was an aberration because of the lack of innings pitched in 2020. Pitch counts are driving the reduced innings. The number one reason for less innings (pitches) is the teams investment into pitchers. They do not want them to throw too much and hurt their $10-40M a year investment. All other issues are arbitrary.
  11. The minimum player salary is $570k, hardly going backwards. Maybe as a percentage to owner profit??? Sorry, have to side with owners 100% Players are treated like gold, never wanting for anything. I would play for $0, with or without the MANY additional perks. Owners risk everything, players risk nothing.
  12. Or how about this year when he evaded the Pirates 1B on a routine grounder to help score a run and ended up on 2B? Freaking awesome play!!!
  13. Hot 'n Ready going up a $1 as soon as a SS is signed!!
  14. Hmmm, with Clemens, might not have had to trade Smoltz. Rotation would have looked good going into the 90s.
  15. Ooops, I forgot the game was in LA, Wood was still the pitcher. Stupid as the rule is, the starting pitcher has to go five to get the win regardless of any other information. It could have been a coin toss who to actually give the win to with no rhyme or reason.
  16. Wood could not be the winning pitcher because he did not go 5 innings. Rogers was the active pitcher when Longoria hit his HR so it defaults to him.
  17. Contraction is nothing more than owners using leverage to gain something. It would never happen.
  18. Just spit balling . . . . . American League East – TB, BOS, NYY, BAL North – TOR, CLE, DET, CWS South – KC, TEX, HOU, San Antonio/Las Vegas West – MIN, OAK, LAA, SEA National League East – PHI, NYM, WAS, Montreal North – STL, MIL, CC, COL South – MIA, CIN, PIT, ATL West – SF, LAD, SD, ARZ 18 games vs each division rival; 8 games vs every other team in league; 4 interleague games vs each team, one division, 4-year rotation (no natural rivals every year) Sample post-season using this year’s records: (no wild card, best record is home, all are 7 game series) TB vs SEA; HOU vs CWS; PHI vs SF; ATL vs MIL (BOS, NYY, LAD, STL don't make it - hahaha)
  19. The appeal is to have an even number of teams in each league so an interleague series is not required every day of the season.
  20. Two 16-team leagues with 4 divisions each would be ideal. Only take the leader in each division, maybe a couple wild cards to keep it interesting.
  21. Mize, Skubal or Manning will not be traded any time soon, for anyone. Pitching wins championships and these three have shown awesome glimpses into the future.
  22. I believe we can look at Mondays makeup game as a one game series that has the potential of another series win!!
  23. How in the heck is Angel Hernandez still a major league umpire???
  24. Agreed, especially at his age . . . but . . . time for him to come full circle and be Kenny Rogers for the big three.
