  1. they can offer them bridge contracts after this year, but it will be better to sign them both long term now. 8×8.5 for seider and 7x7.5 for raymond is what max has them at. he also has kane down for $5m next year which i think is ambitious. kane has shown he's still a point per game player. i think its going to be more like $7m. i know he's old and coming off a bad injury, but guys like him age well (if the hip truly is no longer an issue).
  2. the wings have the cap space to offer him $5-7 mil per year for 2 or 3 years. i dont know who else has the space to offer him more where he would want to play. does he really want to go back to chicago? anaheim? san jose?
  3. depends on the cost. theyre about to run into some cap concerns next year if they traded for tkachuk. with that said, he could be their brendan shanahan. also, i very much doubt ottawa would trade him to detroit.
  4. or uninterested in a rental defender he doesnt want to re-sign.
  5. i think its more likely that petersson becomes the highest (or one kf the highest) paid players in hockey than he gets traded.
  6. i do suspect at some point they will have to deal for a "star" if they want to compete for cups. they got lucky this year and found patrick kane on the scrap heap and signed him for nothing. i doubt that happens in the future (or ever). yzerman has said before that he'd rather trade for known players than draft picks. he has had a few years to build up the barren farm system and had done a great job of it. i dont think they should be dealing prospects for rentals, theyre not at that point this year, but over the summer? maybe someone shakes loose like a tkachuck or kyle connor in winnipeg with their financial problems? as you say, now they have the prospect ammo to go get them.
  7. once again buffalo is the atop the prospect lists and at the bottom of the standings, looking to trade previously top rated prospects because they cant pay them all. you have to wonder if a better strategy would be to do what yzerman did: sign a bunch of veterans to blend in with the youth. make the younger players wait. (and sign patrick kane)
  8. that's a great deal for dallas. not sure what calgary is doing there. they must like the prospect better than others do. they're taking a lot of heat in the media for that deal.
  9. red wings at #2. edvinsson asp kasper danielson cossa augustine mazur wallinder buchelnikov soderblom buium gibson dower-nilsson lombardi johannson no top 10 forwards, but two top 10 d's and the only org with two top 10 goalies. two or three forwards who will be solid nhl players.
  10. berggren too. guy scored double digit goals in the nhl as a 22 year old. i suspect its edvinsson asp danielson cossa kasper mazur augustin wallinder johannsen gibson buium berggren might have aged out of it. they may not have that one guy who profiles as a top prospect, but they have a ton of depth.
  11. so the pistons dont play muscala after he made a decently successful debut. obviously better than wiseman. and then buy him out so he's free to join a contender. tell me again who his agent is?
  12. muscala trade wasnt the b&b trade, it was the bagley salary dump that we had to give two picks away to do.
  13. ausar thompson had almost as many made 3s as the whole bulls team.
  14. its always nice to beat the bulls, but they won this game because the bulls couldnt shoot. they werent missing contested jumpers, they were missing EVERYTHING. badly. 2/29 from 3. for an nba team?
  15. pistons are buying out muscala. that's why theyre not playing him.
  16. bulls were 2/29 from 3. the pistons have 9 wins on the season and 2 against the bulls.
  17. 9 points up on washington. (only 2 behind toronto...)
  18. they obviously havent heard about the athletic's check mark system.
  19. caruso mugs cade. no call.
  20. STAY ON YOUR FEET AUSAR! derozan taking him to school.
  21. thank your lucky stars you dont have to listen to stacy king announce this game.
  22. i would not bust the bank for a 30 year old defensive tackle.
  23. drummond has a better jumper than ausar.
  24. exactly. the only question is when they bite the bullet and trade crosby. not this year obviously. probably not next year either but... they have nothing in the pipeline and are committed to some older players with big contracts. crosby saves them from being a complete also ran. but its the pens. they'll bottom out, get the #1 pick, and get yet another generational player to save a team that was inches short of bankruptcy the last time they didnt have a lemieux/jagr/crosby on the team.
  25. great work by rassmussen too
