  1. perhaps they should have looked for something besides a one year college wonder at pitcher?
  2. i doubt it. i dont follow the baseball draft as much as the other sports. i do remember liking nick madrigal a lot and that hasnt worked out very well. but i am not a baseball gm. i am not saying that they should listen to me. i am saying his picks have not panned out yet and, as such, have not been good picks. that's what he was paid to do and he wasnt very good at it.
  3. i like it better than the parker meadows, kody clemens, kingston liniak, adam wolf, hugh smith, eric de la rosa, and jeremiah burks picks.
  4. don cherry, is that you?
  5. your scouts and general managers are paid to make those decisions and not go by what's in the press. so far, mize and tork have been massive failures. however, its still very early in their careers and plenty of time to turn it around. but the "lolz everyone said they were top prospects so the fact that they didnt pan out isnt a black mark on the people who drafted them" argument doesnt fly with me. the people who drafted them are supposed to know more than keith law or baseball america. its a results based business. if they fail, the people who drafted them fail.
  6. yeah, matt stafford is a really good qb.
  7. i love the idea of adding monk in free agency. i loved it years ago when weaver was intent on collecting failed big men or using cap space on joe harris. now monk will be expensive. a good organization would have identified monk (or divencenzo) as potential contributors years ago. a good organization would identify that type of under-the-radar player this year. THIS organization trades assets for james wiseman. which is why the only real acquisition that matters this year is the president of basketball operations. weaver simply must be replaced.
  8. it will take a few more years to get Al Avila's stink off of this organization.
  9. don shula and bill belichick were also on the lions staff. different than front office, but still... also, jerry vianisi left to lead the wlrld league of american football...
  10. just as an exercise, where would they go? who could afford them in a place they would actually want to play?
  11. i'm excited about asp too, but i still worry he's too small.
  12. PJ was almost the goat. funny how things can turn so quickly.
  13. buy a playstation or an xbox you cheap skate.
  14. he'll eventually be on tv as a pundit until he says something too caustic. chuck says inflammatory things but he's big, lovable charles barkley. draymond is a bully and a prick.
  15. hope to see danielson at gr this year.
  16. i'd rather play the bears earlier for williams' inexperience and to stay out of the cold weather.
  17. boo. sick of thanksgiving being bears or packers.
  18. dont do it pistons. that said, they wouldnt have enough to make the trade.
  19. settling a case does mean you did anything wrong. we'll never know what actually happened. he could be guilty as sin or he could have settled something just to avoid the bad publicity. we'll never know.
  20. if youre looking at pro athletes for moral upstanding fellows who never cheat on their wives, do stupid ****, or use "enhancements" you are going to be very disappointed. it takes a fair amount of self control to be that young, rich, and available to turn down a lot of life's temptations. that's dofferent than the accusations against bridges, of course. if bridges beat his girlfriend up then he should face criminal penalties, it shouldnt prevent him from working in his chosen profession if he's good enough to do so.
  21. nope, but it would require some digging into the circumstances. what you do off the court is your business. if you present a danger to employees, that's another story.
  22. i think they got a really good return for hronek. if they didnt, think about the cap crunch they would be in now. otoh, maybe they dont sign holl, extend maata, and trade for petry so there's that...
  23. i saw a guy who is going to need to increase the aggressiveness and physicality a lot if he wants to succeed in the nhl. and he hasnt exactly torn up the ahl either. he's so big and has skilled hands. he should be tomas holmstrom. parked in front of the net and digging in corners. like ras was when he was actually trying/not injured. but he doesnt. he floats through games. unless he wants to get dirty and physical, he'll be back in sweden in a year or two.
  24. i see sasser and sheppherd as bench guys. shooters with significant defensive frailities and a lack of height (sasser) and defensive athletic ability (sheppherd) to be starters. pistons should be looking at "who fits with cade". that's all they should care about. if that's sheppherd because of his shooting then so be it. i like devin carter a lot but worry about his shooting.
