  1. that's quite a salary dump.
  2. it could also be that they have an agreement in principle as long as X prospect is still on the board. if friedman is reporting stuff there must be SOME kernel of truth to it. otoh, knowing about stevie's ban on media leaks, maybe not?
  3. i hope its for 17 and zadina. 😉
  4. i dont think he's a product of kane, but i dont think he's a 40 goal scorer without a top center. with that said, you could say that about a lot of players! and my overall point with debrincat is that his value is diminshed by his contractual circumstances and that his last year was not as good as his previous years. he's not worth two first round picks to me. he's not worth a top 10 pick this year to me.
  5. max at the athletic has been pushing honzek for a while now. seems like rasmussen to me, big guy who doesnt skate all that well and scores at that level because he's so much bigger than everyone else but there are questions about how that will translate at the nhl level. but stevie loves size and that makes sense given how small the wings are.
  6. wentz is only on the team because everyone else is hurt.
  7. i hope so. but none of those guys other than goff have done anything yet. and stafford won a super bowl. lots of potential for sure.
  8. so. many. penalties.
  9. who does he think he is? zion williamson?
  10. two first round picks for debrincat is stupid. if another team wants to pay two first round picks in a loaded draft for a player on the verge of unrestricted free agency who has openly said he'll only sign with certain teams and was traded for ONE FIRST ROUND PICK two years ago, well....i have a bridge in brooklyn to sell you. debrincat is not worth two first round picks. that's stupid. its tater being tater and doing the most sports radio hot take thing possible. again, last year it was trading multiple first rounders for shane wright, this year its multiple first rounders for debrincat. no, no, NO. The wings have not been lottery lucky. so you either become a team that kills you with depth, or you mortgage it all for a star. debrincat is a good player, but he is not a player you mortgage it all for. #17, zadina (or equivalent but not mazur or lombardi) plus a second should be more than enough. if not, sign debrincat next year when he's a udfa. take the two first rounders in a loaded draft with a gm who has been very good at identifying and developing top talent. i'll do that all day over debrincat. one first, maybe. two? insanity. if you want to mortgage the farm for a player it has to be keller or connor or elias petersson or someone like that. not a small winger whose production fell considerably once he was removed from being on a line with an all time great offensive player.
  11. reports of a big deal between st louis and philly. hayes going to the blues.
  12. $30 mil a year at cam johnson is an overpay for sure. are we just trying to hamstring the nets? they have the space to match and likely will. jerami grant is staying in portland most likely. kuzma doesnt really fit this team. its a bad year to have max dollars unless youre using it to take on someone else's bad deal. zach lavine? demar derozan? john collins? tobias harris? nothing enticing there unless philly gives me assets for harris and weaver hasnt shown much of an inclination to do that type of deal. or do you do the stupid thing and offer draymond $30 mil a year? after all, he's "tough".
  13. did they borrow the tigers' front office?
  14. every year you see a shiny new toy that you want to trade the farm for him. last year it was shane wright, this year its debrincat. no way in heck i'm trading two first round picks for debrincat. he went for less than that LAST YEAR and now he's coming off a worse season and one year closer to free agency and has publicly said he will not sign with ottawa. jesus, tater. are you the worst poker player of all time? lol.
  15. i saw someone mention Ausar's ceiling as scottie pippen. somebody make sure he has some midol and excedrin handy.
  16. from 1992 to 2002 the tigers drafted 1 player who finished with over 20 WAR for them: bobby "you try and trade him" higginson. inge was close. weaver had a couple good years. and that's it until granderson and then verlander under dd's watch.
  17. matt brunson. selected 9th in the 1993 draft. right before the likes of billy wagner, chris carpenter, torii hunter, and jason varitek. we were such a **** organization.
  18. how can you forget matt brunson?
  19. i have an irrational love for nba summer league.
  20. he's on the last year of his contract before he becomes an unrestricted free agent. he's coming off a down year which, coincidentally, happened as soon as he moved away from patrick kane. he has told ottawa he will not re-sign with them. so they sell him now or get nothing in a year, or wait until the deadline and take a trade for likely a low first round pick. last year he went for #7 and a second rounder. this year he is less valuable than that. he said he'll go to detroit, dallas, nashville, florida, or vegas. only one of those teams has cap space to trade for him. there is zero reason to give up the farm to trade for debrincat. if you want to give up the farm, go get keller or try for kyle connor, two better players signed to cheaper deals. debrincat should not cost that much and i doubt there will be a bidding war. if there is, detroit should pass.
  21. hopefully ausar learns how to shoot and puts on some muscle. we were once the most unathletic team in the league, but weve addressed a lot of that with ivey, duren, and ausar. but we still cant shoot. sasser should help with that. we still are loaded with unproductive bigs on stupid contracts, hopefully weaver can unload bagley/wiseman to some other fool who thinks he can "fix" them. what the team really needs is healthy cade cunningham. if they get that, they might push 30 wins next year. still a ways away from the playoffs. hopefully cade still wants to be here when his contract is up. how long of a leash does weaver have to get to the playoffs? 2 years?
  22. hints about medicals, attitude, and poor workouts.
  23. backup point guard still. he's tall and can pass and tries hard on defense. sasser is small for today's nba and is still a rookie. killian will be around for at least one more year.
  24. cant wait to see who is the dumber, more selfish player: jalen greene or cam whitmore.
  25. rockets get the better thompson twin AND a top 5 talent in the same draft.
