  1. seeing guys like durzi and colton go for next to nothing makes you wonder if the wings have something cooking with those second rounders or if they plan on stocking up on prospects?
  2. dude, you know the next time some 22 year old second baseman is hitting .350 in high A ball you'll be the first one on here saying he's the next Lou Whitaker. you cant help it! 😉
  3. i probably wore the wrong shade.
  4. rodney magruder is going straight into weaver's front office. i doubt they get rid of him.
  5. wings open in jersey. oct 12. their schedule release was very cute.
  6. jeiii was talking about barnes on $25m per year for two years with a third year partially guaranteed deal. similar. then you can deal barnes and bagley with picks to get close to a max guy in 2 years. i like both those moves. let's get more shooting please.
  7. that will really help amen develop...
  8. i'm not sure you can say today's minors arent better because we haven't seen them fully develop yet. 🙂 but i do remember the wings having a "highly ranked" farm system at least coming into the mid 2010s. then the bottom fell out with some surprising draft decisions (ras, cholowski over chychrun, svechnikov) that seemed to make draft analysts pause. if you take an honest look at last year, they werent a good team and chairot really hurt them by making seider worse. that said, if they have bertuzzi for the whole season and if vrana wasnt kicked off the team, they are likely fighting florida for the 8th spot down to the wire. but that's the ceiling. trading both of them (and hronek) was an admission by yzerman that it wasnt good enough and that its time to rebuild around seider/raymond with larkin as the long term captain/vet to hold it together. coming up with enough depth to "roll four lines" like seattle or carolina is a good goal, but even seattle (beniers) and carolina (the good svechnikov) had high lottery picks we havent had. these two first rounders are key. they HAVE to hit. and getting something out of the three second rounders needs to happen too. but im a sucker, i still think mazur is brayden point 2.0. 🙂
  9. your top two picks this year should be a bedrock, hopefully. from my uneducated eye, i am excited about wallinder, lombardi, and mazur. lombardi is on a path to be a real steal, imo. cossa is concerning because he's a goalie and goalie's are weird. i wouldnt be stunned if they take one in round 2 if they keep all 3 picks. buchelnikov is an unknown. veleno is just a 4th line utility guy. zadina is trade bait (hopefully) based on his draft position. buium seems to have stalled. i also like sebrango as an ollie maata type player.
  10. btw, i really doubt all those guys make the wings.
  11. "Detroit has been seen as the logical landing spot for Alex DeBrincat by some — and Detroit was on his list of teams — but my sense of the situation Tuesday was the Red Wings didn’t feel they were that close on a deal with Ottawa. I know DeBrincat had Dallas as one of his preferred destinations, as well, and the Stars have had conversations with Ottawa about DeBrincat. But given the Stars’ cap situation, they would need to move money out somehow. It’s not likely the Stars can do it. They’re also still talking to pending UFA Max Domi. As I reported last week, Sens GM Pierre Dorion is fine with a 2024 first-round pick, so he never viewed this week as the deadline for a DeBrincat trade. There’s still time. But again keep in mind that whatever team wants to trade for DeBrincat, an accomplished goal scorer who’s only 25 years old, he’s going to cost $8.5 million to $9 million a year on an extension. Again, cap space is a problem right now almost everywhere. That’s partly why this trade hasn’t been that easy to pull off so far." ****** that's not a bidding war. that's "there have been no bids that include a first round pick."
  12. can we put tork out of his misery?
  13. at least its better than what you think the future of the tigers is. 🙂
  14. i dont mind trading for debrincat, but i'm not giving up a ton to do it. im not getting in tater's bidding war of trading every first round pick for the next two years just to get him. that's not a good idea.
  15. i'm not sure any of those trades - as well as the toffoli trade that just happened - impact the debrincat situation at all. #17 and a zadina type should still be more than enough. the kings are loaded with talent. they can afford to give up those guys to get pld. and winnipeg wants good players who can contribute now, the wings cant afford (and dont have) to give up those types of players and LA can because they are deeper and better. that's the type of move the wings can make in two years when/if their young players start to develop, which is WHY YOU DONT SELL THE FARM FOR DEBRINCAT WHEN HE ONLY MAKES YOU A BORDERLINE 8TH SEED. patience. this was the worst organization in hockey just three years ago. it takes time to dig out of ken holland's terrible drafts.
  16. that makes me want to deal Larkin, lol.
  17. livers has been a big nothingburger, imo. and he's always hurt. i dont get the fascination.
  18. i think lawrence, parsons, and chase. sewell has been really good and is very young.
  19. all these flyers trades keep getting shot down at the last minute. kind of leads me to believe their new gm might bot have a full grasp on all the details of his job yet...and that someone in the organization is leaking EVERYTHING to the media.
  20. michigan will take him. still cant understand why he wanted to go to the nba. everybody told him it would be different dealing with nba players and he found out the hard way. when the players dont like you, youre toast.
  21. taylor hall given away for nothing (including former red wing prospect alec regula). makes me wonder why we dont do something like that and weaponize our cap space. chicago ia just going to flip him at the deadline for a first round pick. edit: in hindsight, we might have been on hall's no trade list.
  22. i was going to say B. 🙂 if michkov truly is a superstar in the making, you wait for him and get him anyway you can. the guy was mentioned as 1B to Bedard's 1A for a long time. if that is still true, you go get him. debrincat is a good player but not a superstar. but i trust their scouts more than internet junk i read. if they dont think he is, then dont do it. at the end of the day, i think michkov goes top 5 or 6. never gets past washington.
  23. would you rather: A) trade #17 and zadina for debrincat and make the pick at 9; or B) trade #17 and #9 to move up to the top 5 and take mitchkov (and get a second rounder to boot).
  24. hopefully this is a sign that bedard ia going to end up like taylor hall and not connor mcdavid.
