  1. good offensive linemen too. iowa is a solid player development program...but that offense....ouch.
  2. #3 on nfl.com #3 on athletic #2 on "grinding the mocks" (which is an aggregate) https://grindingthemocks.shinyapps.io/Dashboard/ has a nice graph showing his expected draft position based on mocks with a consensus epd of 43.
  3. jack campbell was the consensus 3rd linebacker behind the kid from arkansas and the other kid from clemson. both of whom are still available. i hope campbell works out. i like iowa players for some reason.
  4. wont matter when victor is here nailing threes.
  5. no idea, but considering who drafted him i'm sure he wasnt. and campbell isnt either if you consider some of these edge players as linebackers (anderson, smith, macdonald). i doubt any of us are old enough or have a good enough memory to remember if chris spielman was either. i remember him being drafted, but i was a teenager.
  6. counterpoint: jordan dizon. but i agree that holmes deserves the benefit of the doubt. even if i reserve the right to overreact when he takes a tight end at the top of round 3. 🙂
  7. according to the consensus "big board" that comes out every year before the draft. the consensus is usually more accurate and teams that take players that go way off it usually dont work out. guys usually fall for a reason: usually health. guys that are considered reaches usually dont pan out. with that said, there are exceptions to those rules and holmes has probably earned the right to be given the benefit of the doubt when he "reaches."
  8. its just a message board. relax. and the lions arent a playoff team. they didnt make the playoffs last year.
  9. the scouting report i read (yes, ON THE INTERNET), seemed to say he doesnt play up to his athletic abilities. that he's a bit stiff, takes some time to diagnose plays, and doesnt always play up to his speed. what does that mean? i dont know. im just a dude on a message board regurgitating other people's stuff. the problem with the campbell pick - if there is one - is where they took him.
  10. they gave the gibbs pick an A and the liked the campbell pick too.
  11. https://sumersports.com/the-zone/nfl-draft-proverbs/ To this point, Riske found that between the two extremes, reaches (where a team takes a player higher than their spot on the consensus board) and steals (where a team takes a player that has fallen lower than their spot on the consensus board), there is really only empirical evidence for the former. Teams that take a player higher than expected to are, in a sense, “a market of one”, bestowed with all of the statistical properties of a draft pundit being quoted by Freezing Cold Takes. On average, players that are taken ahead of their consensus position underperform. *** the odds are not with us on gibbs and , especially, campbell.
  12. i dont see why they would do that. theyre not trying to win next year. audition him for what? they have his game tape. it doesnt seem like a fit. but who knows?
  13. one year of deandre swift? what does that do for a team like the cardinals who are rebuilding? murray is out all year. i dont see them caring for deandre swift. the eagles might be a team that is interested. or hold on to swift and wait until mccaffery gets injured again, maybe the niners will be interested. but heck, its the nfl. who knows?
  14. exactly. howie roseman loves georgia defenders. with good reason, georgia buys the best athletes on defense. carter is one of the most talented players in the draft, but risky. the eagles bet on that talent and their ability to get it out of him. the lions passed and went for stiff linebackers who are captains...
  15. gibbs is not marshall faulk or deebo samuel or a work horse back. he's an extremely fast back who can catch. if you wanted marshall faulk, you should have drafted bijan robinson.
  16. deebo is a LOT bigger than gibbs. maybe in the way they use him? i see gibbs as mccaffery lite.
  17. lions needed a talent upgrade at linebacker....but they probably could have done that later. they passed on the best run stopper in the draft when they let carter go.
  18. if the lions trade up for a safety or a tight end im going to REALLY start drinking.
  19. baltimore takes another bust at wr.
  20. i really dont get the campbell pick other than "he's a team captain and he's gritty." not a great value position especially with jsn still on the board. i guess maybe jsn's medical history scared them away.
  21. i like witherspoon and jsn better than gibbs and campbell.
