  1. maximlian kilpinen. 6'1 180 swedish center. 61st among euro skaters. hakan anderson getting some play today.
  2. tony deangelo to philly to play under torts? what could go wrong?
  3. amadeus lombardi, 5'10 160 center playing in flint. late riser. went from unranked to 94 among north american skaters. was a big lart of flint's team this year as a younger player. playmaking center.
  4. anton johannson. 18 year old 6'4 swedish defenseman. rated 68 among euro skaters. seems like a red wings/yzerman pick if i've ever seen one. taking a chance on a big swedish defenseman who doesnt provide much offense but has some traits and SIZE. stevie loves big swedes.
  5. just reading his scouting reports, his offense comes from being big, fast, and getting to the net. he's not a supremely skilled offensive player. there's nothing wrong with that and teams need that, but he seems to profile more adam erne than lucas raymond. a plus adam erne is a good thing. from hockey writers, wbo had him as a third rounder: James has all the intangibles to be a good power forward in the NHL. He has an innate goal-scoring ability while being a strong and physical player in his own zone. However, with most of his goals coming in close to the net, the question marks about his offensive abilities off the rush make it questionable whether he’ll be a top-six forward in the NHL. Given his skill set, a more realistic prediction is that he’ll fit in nicely in a third-line role where he can provide depth scoring while playing a hard-nosed, two-way game. A good comparison would be someone like Barclay Goodrow, a big, strong, and physical forward who plays good defense while being able to chip in offensively when needed.
  6. honestly, if any of these guys make it and make an impact, its gravy. 80% of them after round 3 will never see the nhl ice.
  7. i wouldnt say we "stole" husso, but a 3rd rounder is probably decent compensation. both picks in round two could be classified as "reaches" based on the prospect ratings, but i trust their evaluations. a couple of wings and no centers is interesting. james looks like a potential bertuzzi clone who might skate a little better but not have as much offensive ability. maybe more like a third line aggressive, big hitting power forward. the russian seems to profile as a small, fast, scoring winger. maybe they talked to sergei or igor about him?
  8. refs ruined it. called so many fouls, so many techs. no flow at all. sloppy game. very summer league. lots of grabbing and clutching. stewart's 3 pointers looked legit. killian still cant shoot but is still a very good passer. cant attack the basket. saben lee is just a warm body. ivey looked as advertised. uber athletic. when he got a head of steam going downhill they couldnt stop him. great finisher. shot needs work. played a little out of control but that's expected. lane was clogged up because its summer league. duren looked legit. high flyer who is going to be a demon switching on d. no offense to speak of other than lobs but that's ok, that's all he'll need to be. spacing and shooting will be an issue unless stewart's 3 point chops are real and cade gets more consistent. i expect both to be true.
  9. always assume mark jones is wrong.
  10. nothing official. as cm said, he had "no signs of life".
  11. somebody just assassinated shinzo abe during a campaign speech.
  12. can someone teach javy to throw the ball to first base?
  13. not only do i have to wait until 11 pm for this game to start, i have to listen to mark jones and doris burke? ugh.
  14. masterclass managing from aj tonight. all the bullpen moves worked. pinch hitting tork worked. larussa, otoh, bites it again. pitched to tork with first base open and barnhart on deck. pinch hit useless leury garcia late.
  15. nope. you make some bad decisions in high school nowadays and youre never allowed to work again.
  16. fleury re-signs with minny. sorry kenny...
