you dont have to. you just increase the cap. the real problem will be telling the low revenue owners that there is no longer any penalty for spending money on salaries. the nba has created a labryinth of exceptions, carve outs, and exceptions to exceptions that make everything much more complicated. i cant just trade X player for Y player. i have to trade X player for Y+Z's salary to create an exception so i can sign Z. its much less interesting to most people who are die hard nba junkies like yourself.

or they could just have a cap and make everyone stay under it.
-
he'll play right away because they have no money to sign anyone else.
-
isaac howard traded to edmonton for sam o'reilly.

the best laid plans of mice and 84...
-
karlsson has also been healthier...which is funny to say. but he's played all 82 for three straight seasons. hamilton has played 20 and 62 the last two years. karlsson is older and more expensive, but has one less year on his deal. if youre looking for an asp tutor or what asp's absolute besr case scenario is as a player, its karlsson.

god no.
-
that's a huge overpay, imo.

amazing athlete? undisciplined? taking ridiculous shots off schedule? the summer league was made to make guys like ace bailey look good.
-
I dont want bradley beal, but it would be kind of ridiculous if they got him and it might make del mad so it wouldnt be all bad...
-
its joe and troy youre talking about. they dont think about abstract notions like "accumulating assets" and "future flexibility". no sir, those are nerd concepts. theyre about winning now. and winning now means one thing: a big man who can rebound! offer them duren and they'll give you herb jones and THEIR #1 pick. maybe even two if you catch them in the right mood.
-
cant wait to see them use their mle on a bought out bradley beal!
-
yet another exception to a rule that was an exception to a rule. its all ridiculous.
-
no way detroit does that.

ive heard that rumor before too. but it might just be one linking a team that supppsedly wants to add (detroit) with one that desperately wants to sell (pens). if pitt retains no salary then maybe they get a 4th rounder. if they retain some salary maybe they get a 3rd? evander kane got a 4th and everyone knew edmonton was desperate to sell. karlsson probably gets more than kane. karlsson is still an excellent offensive defensiveman, he just provides zero defense. think red wings edition paul coffey. yzerman might have more interest in rust or rakell, but they will require more assets to acquire. which of their prospects are still new enough to have some shine on them, but they dont actually believe in? when i think of pittsburgh rumors my initial though is lombardi. fast and skilled but small. might be right up dubas' alley.

elite offense. would boost 5v5 which is a big need. horrible defense. would have to be paired with edvinsson.

if you watched grand rapids in the playoffs, you'd know he's not ready. jesper wellstadt hasnt played either. askarov was supposed to be the next best thing. he was drafted a year before cossa. he's played 16 games. then devon levi was supposed to be the next big thing, goes to buffalo and now he sucks. goalies are weird. that's why you dont usually draft then early, imo. i didnt want cossa at the time, although nobody drafted behind him has really panned out either yet except wyatt johnston and i'm not sure anyone saw that coming. but if cossa hits, he could be markstrom. so lets hope he hits. btw, jacob markstrom didnt become any good until he was....checks notes....26.

aside from the financials, that trade is only going to help them lose. which is kind of the point.
-
who is it on the pelicans who decided that the braintrust of joe dumars and troy weaver was the right choice? what a cursed franchise. finally get the shot at a franchise player and it ends up being king cheeseburger the porn star raper.
-
goalies take time. i wouldnt be disappointed to not see cossa until an iniury hits, and with gibson and talbot in net, it will hit. i'd be more disappointed if a couple of mazur, danielson, wallinder, buium, asp dont break through next year.
-
good. i dont want to bust the bank for ehlers, another small and not physical player. we already have debrincat, kane, and raymond. no need to have ehlers on a 7 year deal making as much money as larkin. he's not as good as larkin. i'm fine with the offseason considering how things went around the league. my criticism is that they havent accumulated enough assets to trade for a guy like dobson. dobson would have been perfect for detroit but montreal could offer multiple firsts and we didnt/couldnt match. that's the one deal i regret they didnt make.
-
that's a good deal for washington. i wish detroit would have done something like that. bet on potential. in hindsight, nba execs who passed on whitmore (who was rumored to be a top 5 pick), have been right and draftniks were wrong. so far. we'll see if whitmore can flourish with more playing time.

how many of those guys are actually good?
-
nope. he needs the ball in his hands and cade already does that. cade is also a much better player. giddey thrived on the bulls' late season schedule of tanking teams and resting teams. remember when the bulls gave up 71 points IN THE FIRST HALF against the heat in the play in game? ladies and gentlemen, i give you josh giddey's defensive nous. he improved once they let the black hole of zack lavine leave, but giddey is really a good offensive sparkplug more than a guy who carries a team, imo. otoh, if you believe the 3 point shooting is real, then he could be a very useful player. just not in detroit because his game is too much like cade's and youre not getting him for less than $30m a season at this rate. plus he really likes 15 year old girls but that's another subject for another day... let the bulls cap themselves out with a core of two dudes who play zero defense and are streak scorers in white and giddey. no need for detroit to do that.

so glad this isn't us anymore. imagine some other team having to confirm MULTIPLE TIMES that you really offered them all of that. practically telling you in plain english they would take less. damn joe. i expect that from troy's dumb ass but at least you USED to be smart.
