    that would be the play. not sure what portland could give them back, but if he really wants to leave that would be a way to make sure the bulls dont get stiffed.

    rumor is lavine might go to portland. if the bulls lose lavine, they wont be very good. they lost a lot to injury this year and that killed them, but when lavine wasnt 100% they still had derozan playing better than he ever has and vucevic and they were very bad.

    this was always a developmental season. the season is boring so far because tork has been predictably overmatched, greene is hurt, mize and manning are hurt. skubal is the only real reason to watch now that miggy has 3000/500/600. when the rookies come back, there will be another reason to watch. the regulars arent going to be this bad all season. guys like candy and grossman and baez will get hot. baez is gonna have two weeks where he hits 400 and slugs 600.

    so with the releases so far we assume: open with philly at home. on the road against the pats in week 5. bears on the road in week 10, giants on the road week 11. bills on turkey day. finish at home against the bears and then at the packers.

    1) because the rest of the league was doing the same or very similar things. houston just got caught. 2) hinch was going to get the white sox job until reinsdorf decided to hire his old buddy larussa. 3) hinch got more out of this god awful team last year than we were entitled to see. this year? injuries and a piss poor talent base have caught up with us. it happens. this team had little margin for error and needed a lot of luck. theyre not getting any luck.

    i wouldnt be surprised if detroit took another defenseman this year. its unfortunate, but this team is still so far away from contending that they should take the best player on their board. now, if there is little difference on their board between a left handed d man and a center, then take the center. but if they think there is a star d man there, they should probably take him.

    neither cooley or wright are at the level of mackinnon or crosby or any of the other "franchise altering" players. so there's no reason to give up assets to get them. that's next year. and you can be sure it wont be detroit that gets one of them.
