  1. look at del defending joe dumars. i know global warming is a thing, but is hell getting really cold now?
  2. klingborg will get more than that and doesnt play any defense. he's a better nick leddy. i'd rather have copp than strome. i dont like chiarot's contract, that's the one quibble with yzerman today.
  3. yes, but chris illitch isnt a very good owner, so instead he says stupid things.
  4. athletic gave the wings the best deal of the day: perron athletic gave the wings the worst deal of the day: chiarot
  5. he really had a strange career as a gm, from being one of the best to being one of the worst almost overnight.
  6. fabbri is coming back too. i forgot about him. is ras a winger now? suter a 4th line center? seider-chairot edvinsson-hronek? maata-walman? i wonder if a trade for a defenseman is in the works? leddy got 4 years at $4m per today. that and trocheck's 7 year deal make me feel better about copp getting 5 years and chiarot getting overpaid.
  7. what defenseman would you have signed and for what money? manson got as many years and as much money to stay in colorado. ian cole?
  8. gaudreau is supposedly going to play closer to family in jersey. i mean, detroit is closer than calgary but still...
  9. they're gonna have a really hard time making the playoffs in the east. edvinsson will have to be seider 2.0, larkin and bert career years...someone emerges out of nowhere....soderbloom?
  10. stevie obviously wasnt happy with the players he inherited from kenny! they went out and got a lot bigger and tougher and more defensive. say what you want about chiarot, but he's big and tough. perron too. maata is just a stop gap stay at home 3rd pairing guy. remains to be seen if kubalik can score away from chicago. copp is a solid defensive #2 center. chiarot is overpaid and the deal is too long but yzerman must have felt the team really needed some veteran toughness. no more having larkin having to fight or rasmussen having to look big and fall down. they must be tired of being pushed around. so who gets pushed out? where is the place for zadina now? bert - larkin - raymond perron - copp - vrana kubalik - suter - zadina or bergren? or ras?
  11. joe refused to fail? did they bother to interview charlie v and ben gordon for that story? how about josh smith?
  12. giroud to ottawa is a good deal. i'd love a first to take on jvr. gaudreau is going to end up in new jersey.
  13. just wait until we sign johnny gaudreau...
  14. anyone is an upgrade on danny dekyser.
  15. getting debrincat was a great move.
  16. 🇨🇵
  17. from cory in the athletic today: one year later, it is still too early to make a definitive conclusion. Player development is a long arc and rarely is it completely linear. But the results do not yet validate the Tigers’ decision to draft Jobe. In his first 40 2/3 professional innings (all at Low-A Lakeland) Jobe has a 5.09 ERA. He is averaging a respectable 9.52 strikeouts per nine innings but also has a 3.98 BB/9. Scouts do not doubt Jobe’s talent. He still has the ceiling of a frontline MLB starter. The slider is real and averages over 3,000 rpm. But, per multiple observers, the level of command and polish hasn’t been quite as advertised. His fastball, though it can touch the upper 90s, has averaged closer to 94 mph. He’s a 19-year-old pitcher with a lot left to learn.
  18. buffalo too. montreal making moves. its going to be a real tough division for a while.
  19. johnny hockey leaves as a free agent. malkin re-signs. ottawa trades for talbot and looks to sign giroux. ottawa getting good all of a sudden. a couple people predicting copp to detroit. hopefully on a 4 year deal.
  20. no reason to watch if ivey or killian arent playing.
  21. not to bring up bad memories, but neithee svechnikov nor cholowski were offered tenders by their teams. #firekenny
  22. nichushkin off the market. 8 years $49 million. that deal will not age well.
  23. no team will trade the #1 pick.
  24. he'll end up in chicago.
