  1. lonzo with 16 tonight so far. 4/7 from 3 as chicago is about to close out denver.
  2. shows how far off detroit is from the elite.
  3. they better end up picking 5th.
  4. i worry about lonzo's shot, but he handle the ball, is a willing passer, and plays defense. and he's a free agent after this year. lavine would be the play if they were "going for it" this year, but lonzo would be a nice play that would allow them to build on ivey next year (which lavine would not) and would help them with a lot of their deficiencies this year (secondary ball handler for cade, willing passer) and build on their young players' strengths and potential identity (defense). i like lonzo to the pistons for some second round fodder.
  5. great win. kasper developing into a hard working player with just enough skill to be dangerous is a very nice development.
  6. assuming the best candidates for oc and dc are in-house is hubris.
  7. i want to see finnie play in a better league before i get too excited, but its hard not to be impressed. i have a feeling asp is in detroit next year. but who goes to make room for him?
  8. i would not have made that trade either.
  9. would you have traded a couple picks, raymond and kasper for rantanen? and then tried to sign him for 8×14?
  10. see if they call up watson...
  11. so does kucherov get suspended for that? i'd be stunned if they did anything. the nhl never does anything to players who intentionally injure red wings.
  12. good win. still hanging in there. unfortunately, so is every other team in the east not named buffalo.
  13. so much in life is timing, luck, and who you know.
  14. but he wasnt any good as an assistant. its really an example of the "old boy's club." he was hired because matha ford had no idea who to hire so she went to the league for help. the league calls ernie accorsi, who was a good gm 40 years ago but hasnt done anything except collect retirement checks and occasional nfl consulting gigs since. ernie is the ultimate nfl old boy living off his rolodex. so who does he call? belichick, another old boy. belichick recommends bob quinn from his staff, martha hires him, and quinn brings along patricia a year later. patricia's defenses in new england werent really that good, especially compared to past new england defenses.
  15. trade him for what? a conditional 7th? the lions benched him for a high school football coach, why would any other team trade anything of value for that? the only team i can think that would do that would be the jets or bears because of their coaching staffs. i actually think the bridgewater stuff was lions hubris and not a cut at hooker. next preseason determines if hooker stays or goes. he's not a young man. this should be his prime. but not everyone moves on the same schedule development-wise.
  16. campbell has made mistskes at coordinator before, but he then rectifies the mistake by firing guys and making better hires. we'll see how these turn out.
  17. all the hawks get out of that is a 3rd round pick? other than that....wow, indeed. so much for carolina dealing for jt miller.
  18. i dont think howard is "great." but i dont think ozzie was "great" in the 00s. i dont think he was EVER great, but certainly not in the 00s.
  19. jimmy butler single handedly torpedoing miami's season helped too. you just hate to see that happen to a nice guy like pat riley. such a shame.
  20. i think i said this earlier in the year, given philly's implosion, orlando's injuries, and the rest of the bottom of the east blatantly tanking (chicago, washington) or being massively flawed (atlanta, et al), it woukd be tough for detroit NOT to make the playoffs. that kind of assumed cade becoming CADE!, which he has largely done.
  21. howard's numbers are better than ozzie's 2000 era numbers in every season but one. hasek has better numbers than both but fewer years. depends what you want, i guess. but i wouldnt put ozzie over howard or hasek. i know this has been done to death, but i think ozzie was a solid guy, decent in net, but never a superstar goalie. he got to play behind some of the best teams in the league and some of the best teams in history and that helped him A TON. put him in net when howard completed his career and he's getting shelled, imo.
  22. the period is only covering the last 25 years. doesnt take ozzie's time in the 90s into account.
  23. he can still get after it on defense. he can still run the point. offense is...uh....still an issue but he's not a complete black hole and he does like to pass. no future committment. he's been healthy this year for the most part. and he wont cost much. start ausar, ron, lonzo, cade, and stewart. win every game 68-66.
  24. the argument would be the goalies. i'd probably put jimmy howard over osgood and hasek for that time period. i know hasek won a cup and osgood did too, but howard played a lot longer than either of them and was pretty good doing it.
  25. big win. and they dominated the game.
