  1. if youre making an argument that pitchers have to go all out to avoid giving up homeruns to everyone in the lineup, doing so in a forum with folks who have to watch the 2024 tigers bat may not be the most receptive audience.
  2. the detroit tigers
  3. i'm sure all of you who hold disdain for hinch over the astros cheating have the same disdain for del baker, and hank greenberg, and rudy york for cheating and stealing signs in the 1940 world series. having a guy in center field tell them what pitches were coming. https://www.vintagedetroit.com/sign-stealing-helped-tigers-win-1940-pennant/ right?
  4. hao-yu lee is our second baseman of the future. keith can play left field or something. jung can play first? if he makes it. tork will play for another team.
  5. its very funny that people think aj hinch is the problem with this team.
  6. another guy that could have been useful in detroit.
  7. plus harris is on the team for $26 million for the next two years. no one is giving you picks for average to below averge play and $26 million. he's a buyout candidate, not a trade candidate. the "he wanted to come here, yay!" stuff is just sad. overpay an actual GOOD role player, dont overpay an old man who is past it. i dont blame langdon as much for harris because i think that deal was in place for a long time. i do blame him for giving up assets to get thj. that seemed dumb. and if you are going down the "collect assets for cap space road" then he's done a real ****ty job of it so far. ive been reading about all these teams that will have to dump salary to stay below the various caps and taxes and how the pistons were poised to take advantage of that. JEiii has been spouting that **** as gospel for two years: "wait until 2024 and you'll see... well, were waiting.
  8. holl over chairot is not going to happen. im not sure why you hate chairot so much that you put him (an assistant captain) behind holl, a guy who was scratched for 3/4 of the season. gufstaffson is low rent ghost. not as good on the pp but better on defense. he's not a #1 pair d for any team with playoff ideas. and you left out berggren.
  9. and they gave away an nba player to get hardaway. the three second round picks are....something? harris is a waste of money. he was finished at the end of last year and the pistons just gave him half of their available cap space. to do what? be old and occasionally hit a jumper? tobias harris is here because the old regime set up this deal months ago. is he an upgrade? i guess? but not as much of one as some of you are insisting. if he gets hot could he bring back a pick in return? maybe some seconds but he wont bring back a first. it's a nothing signing. this whole offseason has been nothing so far. theyre going to see if the new staff can develop the existing talent. i'm ok with that, i guess. but if this was langdon's strategy of acquiring assets, he hasnt done a good job of it yet. but its still early.
  10. what are you doing with berggren? does he go in the ekblad trade? 😉
  11. the defense will be seider and edvinnson and then five goalies.
  12. raymond - larkin - tarasenko kane - compher - debrincat ras - copp - fischer berggren - kasper - mazur veleno
  13. tarasenko is a definite upgrade over fabbri.
  14. i bet he hated the seider pick. after all, he was a consensus 20th pick!!!!!
  15. i dont know it to be true, its just speculation. you guys are really all about tobias harris at $26 million. i mean, its been rumored to be happening for a very long time, i'm sure it was trajan's decision.
  16. i dont know if he did either way. i would not simply assume that he would not take an offer that was for a lot more than the offer he eventually accepted, although it is possible that he was not going to come here for any amount of money. although i doubt it.
  17. if you offered kcp 3 years at $30 million per year, he would happily come here.
  18. what's the most surprising move in free agency? "Jamal Collier: Tobias Harris' contract with the Detroit Pistons. I certainly understand the thought process and fit for a young team that has cap space available and could use a veteran to help add some wins. However, a two-year, $52 million deal was surprising, especially considering Harris' up-and-down tenure with the Sixers after his last contract. Harris is now set to earn more than $300 million in his career at the end of this deal." kcp is a better player and fit for the pistons and he'll be making $5 million less per season. harris' deal is a joke, something that was seemingly worked out with the old regime before they were replaced (arn tellum, anyone?). no one else was giving harris that kind of money.
  19. i didnt expect them to come in and sign a bunch of all stars, i hoped they would come in and sign some wing role players who could play d and shoot 3s, maybe take a swing on a real rim protector, pick up a contract with a frp attached to it, hire a coach considered a "good basketball mind" or a guy who can develop players. i dont think they've done any of that yet. but its still early and they have cap space available to play with. maybe if you squint you can see tobias harris as a 3 and d player. thj is a black hole on offense who i fear will have all the irrational confidence of zach lavine without any of the actual ability. and all we got for him was 3 seconds and the right to get rid of quentin grimes. not that grimes was the be all end all, but he was a better bet than thj (unless he really wanted out). bickerstaff i see as a nothing burger (did that just for hongbit) who is an upgrade on a guy who just coached one of the worst seasons of all time. small steps, i suppose. but my uneducated basketball mind really wanted borrego or chris quinn or kenny atkinson...not the guy kenny atkinson was hired to replace. i'm underwhelmed and worried that arn tellum still has a lot of say in what's going on. hopefully not. i am moderately intrigued with ron holland, so there's that.
  20. whomever the coach is the team will win more games because monty was ao spectacularly bad last year. of course, i said the same thing about dwayne casey...
  21. whether its true or not monroe will be let go. there are plenty of people to do his job without the drama.
  22. i dont see any way cossa is in detroit unless multiple guys get hurt. i really like what theyve done at goalie so far.
