2024 Trade Deadline Rumors and Discussion
buddha replied to LongLiveMaroth's topic in Detroit Tigers
they look dingler-esque. -
do you ever get tired of being disappointed by prospects? 🙂 when are you going to join me in the "bitter old man" club?

one thing is for sure, whatever we do we cant trade our 6'8 floor spacer center who makes 1 three a game, plays 45 games a year, has a negative defensive rating, and makes the "naz reid" contract. if we trade him we might as well blow the whole thing up. lol. -

can you imagine going to cade now and saying "hey, you're going to have to pass to isaiah stewart and ausar thompson from now on because, well, we drafted them and we have no choice, we cant trade for better players or future assets now!" you get better players not through cap space, but by accumulating future assets and then trading them for better players. or, you could spend salary cap space on the best free agents in the market OR trade for guys teams are willing to give away because they make too much money. wiggins, lavine, KAT, dejounte murray, trae... you keep saying how everyone else,'s ideas on how to improve the team suck, what would YOU do to improve the pistons? -
dingler will settle in nicely as a platoon catcher who goes 210/300/400 with an average arm and average defense. jake rogers 2.0. honestly, that's not horrible for a second round pick. but lance parrish or bill freehan he is not.

3 innings! he's setting up as the closer of the future! until the next time he needs back surgery in a month.

if youre following the okc/presti plan, then you accumulate as many future assets as possible and deal those assets for star players when you are ready to compete. or, if youre the bulls (or del apparently) you trade an asset for a depreciating asset and NO future assets even though okc has so many... just sayin. -
you can do 25-15 minutes a night split for this year and see if duren gets better.

jones is nothing but a stop gap like reimer waa and pranshanth is very much in the "goalies are volatile so dont overpay them" camp. i have my doubts seider takes that for a bridge, raymond may be pricier than that too. raymond was a superstar down the stretch and his agent will surely know it. i think they can get march for that but probably not roy. not sure berggren and holl nets you a 3rd either. you might have to do a swap and give up a pick to get that.
-
let him walk and sign marchesaault instead. march is more of a goal scorer and play driver and kane is more of a facilitator. plus kane is older.

prashanth's "if i were steve yzerman" piece is out today. tl;dr version: sit tight this year and make your big splash in free agency after next year or the year after. draft: michael brandsdegg nygard. re-signings: raymond: 8x$8.25 seider: 3x$6 veleno: 1x$1.3 mcissac: released perron: 1x$2 fischer: 1x$1.2 trades: berggren/holl to utah for edmonton's 2024 3rd round pick. maata to san jose for its 2025 4th round pick. free agent signings: marchessault: 3x$7 roy: 5x$5.6 martin jones (goalie): 1×$925k

i like carter too. i also like clingan, williams, castle, and holland. cant wait to see who we pick 5th in next year's draft.

good to see more confirmation that michigan > michigan state.

he's got all the talent you want, its the "want to" that is missing. that's what worries me about spending too much on him. i'd take him at 2 years $30m rather than trade for grant. unless grant comes with multiple #1s, which he wont. but were talking about the cheap ass bulls here. they have designs on keeping derozan, they will have to pay giddey, theyre still paying lonzo, and they cant move lavine. throw enough money at pwill and the bulls will probably let him go. -

i dont want them anywhere near lavine. exactly the wrong type of player for this team. he'll dominate the ball and pretend he's michael jordan. and his contract is ridiculous and long. i dont want jerami grant because of how he played the last time he was here. towards the end he did whay he was told to do: stand in the corner and stretch the floor, but before that he tried to pretend this was "his team" and play hero ball all the time. if he comes back i'd fear he would try that routine again since he's making $30m a year. and that contract is also long. no thanks. wiggins is someone i would think about. less money for less years, can play d, and has no problem deferring to cade for offense. do you try for patrick williams? be wary. i watched him with the bulls be extremely passive for the past 3 years. seemed intimidated by lavine, et al. then again, he came out of his shell a bit after lavine was "injured" (aka butt hurt that everyone hated him and coby white stole his role). speaking of coby white, that is the type of guy the pistons should be looking for this year. someone ready to break out. get em for cheap now. is pwill that type of guy? not so sure he has the cojones, but it might be an ok bet to make if the money isnt too high. -

i hope he does too. i actually think duren has an outside chance of developing a jumper. like you said, he's not a bad free throw shooter. he's young. the pistons just hired a "shot doctor." i dont think its outside the realm of possibility he gets AT LEAST a passable midrange. i think there's a better chance duren turns into a passable shooter than ausar. ausar is broke. he's tony allen. -
vecine's draft rankings are out. tier i: 0 prospects tier 2: 0 prospects tier 3: sarr, sheppard, castle, clingan, risacher tier 4: williams, carter, carrington, knecht, holland, salaune, buzelis, topic, mccain, dillingham. a depressing read.

she does the news in france. yet another reason the French are better than us.
-
well, you are a wings and pistons fan...

he has 4 years to show something. like yzerman (and now langdon), he inherited a wasteland: the worst team with one of the worst farm systems left to him by his predecessor. check in in another year and a half and see where mcgonigle and clark are. see what he got for flaherty. see if Lee is in the majors or knocking on the door.

counterpoint: yoan moncada and eloy jimenez. lol.
