The Athletic keeps floating that the Wings had something big in mind for this offseason which seems like a lofty claim, but the only thing that makes sense to me for that is trading for Miller after Garikov signs but I will expect nothing so I'm not disappointed.

Pretty expensive....I don't rate the Predators roster very highly myself. Apparently Rasmus Andersson has turned down extension talks with Ottawa, Columbus and Los Angeles with Holland and the Kings allegedly offering a lot for him but Andersson doesn't want to play there.

The Wings' official announcement did not include anything besides Tank and future considerations, so no draft pick or retention.

I think Tarasenko will rebound a bit next season (year removed from his father's death + contract year) but I am happy to have his cap and roster space available.

Well they were able to dump Veleno’s useless play for a marginally better player on an expiring contract so they got Veleno off their books and an open roster spot not re-signing Smith. The goalie market is awful this offseason so Mrazek would shore up the tandem for another season unless Yzerman could get an upgrade. And he did! If the Gibson trade didn’t happen Mrazek would have most likely been better than what was available in free agency.

His rebound control could use some work, but it doesn’t seem to bother him or shake his confidence, especially in big games and high-pressure moments.

Genborg plays the game in a way that should please NHL teams. He’s a rambunctious physical presence, capable of dominating through his strength in the juniors and more than holding his own against grown men in the professional ranks. He hustles hard and throws his weight around on the forecheck, controls the cycle by sealing off pucks and dealing with back pressure and finds ways to win body positioning in the net front. To achieve this, he employs a deep posture and mechanically solid skating stride while also bringing projectable speed. When combined with his dogged determination on the defensive side of the puck, it’s no surprise he was seeing such consistent usage in the SHL this year. But Genborg is more than just your average power forward. He also has some offensive flair to his game. Among all draft eligible skaters in the J20 level this season, it was Genborg who managed the highest goal-scoring pace, averaging 0.68 goals per game across his 28 regular season appearances. A big chunk of his goals came through winning body positioning in the net front for rebounds, deflections and tap-ins, but he’s also got a competent catch-and-release wrister in his arsenal. While he wasn’t as consistent off the rush as off the cycle, there were even some legitimate flashes of dynamism where he humiliated defenders by breaking their ankles and pulling off slick handling moves at the junior level. Realistically, though, Genborg’s NHL projection will mainly come down to his high levels of physicality and two-way commitment, complemented by his potential as a net-front scorer. There are still questions about how much offensive upside he’s going to have at the next level. He’s not the most cerebral player overall, lacks higher-end playmaking instincts and, in many ways, is still raw, even if he’s advanced to the professional ranks quickly. While there will likely be players with higher upside available in his range, Genborg should have a direct path to playing NHL games in a bottom-six role for whatever team drafts him.
