They should be able to get nice assets for both but starting the rebuild cycle anew is a very tough look

Theoretically Ben Chiarot could be a real asset to a team, he has the attributes to be a great physical, crease clearing defenseman which every team needs. But I think a combo of him not having great hockey IQ (always running into the wrong defensive lanes) and him thinking he's a lot more skilled than he is (trying to rush the puck himself instead of passing) makes that impossible to materialize. Which is a real shame because his massive brain farts negate all the good he actually can do.

How about that ASP usage so far? I don't think he's been on the ice for a goal against and they have him killing penalties in the dying minutes of a game where they're protecting the lead. It helps that he's with Edvinsson but still, very encouraging that they haven't really had to shelter him yet either (50/50 zone starts).

Wings had awful transition defense in that first period, something is going to have to change if they want to come back.

I also think they will sneak into the playoffs. The kids bring some much needed scoring and hustle, especially forechecking with the two forwards. I think their fourth line is also substantially better with Appleton, Soderblom and Rasmussen each capable of 20+ points which is sadly a huge upgrade from what they've had in the Mottes and Fischers the last couple seasons. Will their defense hold them back? Will Gibson be below average? That's what worries me. But I think a full season under the Toddfather will bring us back to the playoffs along with the revamped lineup.

I would be shocked if MBN was ever as tough as Shanny but I do see similar games for sure
