It isn't like Chiarot's game is predicated on his speed or something, I don't mind him on the third pairing (hopefully) late in his career. The next free agent class isn't that impressive imo

In a complete vacuum would I swap Edvinsson for Hughes? Sure, you would be dumb not to. But there are so many other considerations that go into this. The trade wasn't a one for one swap, there was a lot of value in addition to Buium in Rossi and a first round pick going the other way. Edvinsson is 4 years younger and is a restricted free agent after this season, with a projected long term deal at 7 years $7,700,000 per that I've seen. Hughes wouldn't commit to a long term contract (or couldn't? I never really looked into it) and he's a free agent after next season looking at a $12-14 million per year or more extension. So you're risking a guy walking for nothing, and if you do get him signed it is going to be at a significant cost of your cap space. Edvinsson has shown he works incredibly well with Seider on the top pair. He seems to be well liked by his teammates and coaching staff. I feel like I see him getting better and he seems to work hard. I am more than fine betting on his situation here. Especially when the Wings would still need to go out and get defensive help for the third pair imo. Swapping Hughes in for Edvinsson isn't going to completely alleviate that this season even if you force feed minutes to Hughes. And it isn't like suddenly the Wild are some unstoppable juggernaut with Hughes as they've gone 11-5-5 so just a game over .500 counting wins and losses. Somehow got spanked by the Devils and Jets back to back. So I reject the notion that this is the only way to navigate the current successful season.

From the slow downed video it looked like one of the ICE gang grabs the guy's gun and run away from the pile before the shooting started. I never saw the guy brandish it, it looked like ICE snatched it off of his holster. Crazy **** especially all the follow up shots and the ICE guy clapping. It is insanely depressing that these domestic terrorists do not see "the opposition" as people at the very least.

Despite the Wild driving a lot of the play I thought the Wings had a great chance to win that game. The goals against felt really frustrating because they felt preventable if defenders and Talbot weren't going scramble mode. But it's tough to argue with getting a point on the road on a back to back.

Non-joking, I'd rather do a package of picks and a different prospect than give up Danielson in a Thomas trade. I honestly have no idea what Thomas' value is on the trade market. He's an intriguing piece at his age and contract and I think he'd be a great addition to the Wings. Top 10 protected first round pick, second round pick (or two), maybe a future first with top 5 protection? Maybe you can entice them with Plante's great season so far? Feels like it would need to be more than Vegas got for Hertl but maybe I'm wrong?

1-1 after one in Toronto. Leafs scored before I had the game on, Wings tied it up with less than a minute left. Seider and Raymond combined to get out of their zone after a faceoff, nice rush ended up in a Raymond to Edvinsson goal.

Fwiw from what I've seen this season Cossa passes the eye test as well, for me at least. I'm easy to please though.

Sherwood was scary to me if you were counting on him for anything outside of a lot of hits. 121 career points in 309 games, shooting the highest shooting percentage of his career. For a guy who doesn't seem to drive play and is supposed to be a complimentary player, having only two assists at 5 on 5 this season is crazy (six total!). I'm not saying he's a bad piece I just was not sure he really adds what the Wings are missing.

I think there's a chance he could bounce back in the right situation. He's obviously not built to be the go-to guy on a team and not a leader. If Vancouver retains a bit of money (they would need to with their reported asking price, 1st round pick + top 2 center + another asset) and a team slotted him on their second line maybe he finds his offense again. Detroit has a handful of Swedish guys that might make him feel comfortable, and vets who can handle leadership and the media. It is no doubt risky as hell and not ideally what I would want to do. It's just tough to acquire high end talent and if they can somehow use his current play/slump to make it happen I think I'd be for the swing at a first, danielson and another mid prospect. He also has a NMC so it'll be interesting to see if anything even comes of it. Plus Seravalli is wrong A LOT

I've been talking myself into EP lately because it feels like an attainable asset. Still a scary proposition though.
