Sorry for the confusion. I understood that you were referring to Chapman. I was just commenting on Devers’ age. Agree that Chapman isn’t going anywhere. He’s a gold glove third baseman and playing for a manger that he’s been with the majority of his career.

Devers will turn 29 in August. He’s under contract through 2033 at 28,500,000 annual until then. Chapman is a lock at third. Wilmer Flores is having one of his best years at the plate as the DH. He bats from the right, Devers from the left. Devers can play first base as well. The looming question is this… the Giants #1 prospect is first baseman Bryce Eldridge. Eldridge is currently at AAA Sacramento and is booked to be in SF no later than opening day 2026. Eldridge is 6’ 7.” Hits for power from the left side. I don’t know where this trade is a year from now. Flores is a FA after this year so Devers could be a full time DH…if he will.

I saw an interesting comment earlier in another baseball forum. The topic was possible deadline moves. Be it deadline or not, the suggestion was Verlander to Detroit based on the loss of Jobe for the season. Verlander will be back in the SF rotation this week. The Giants have an abundance of starting pitching without Verlander. They literally are going to put one of their top pitching prospects (Kyle Harrison) back in the bullpen when Verlander comes back. Scott Harris has ties to SF and I don’t think it would take much at all to get Verlander. I thought it was an interesting take.

I loved Harry Caray and Steve Stone doing the Cubs games on WGN when day games were still the norm there. I’d get in from work and immediately tune in to their games.

You do recall correctly. In one of the games we saw in Lakeland this spring he hit a ball that landed on the roof of the Corona Cabana beyond the left field wall. He got a good number of bats the week we were there.

In addition to Burnes, Arizona signed ERod which is money down any drain. They signed Jordan Montgomery in late spring last year. He’s out all this year and well into 2026 after missing time last year. They signed Bumgarner and ended up eating the last year and a half of a five year deal. In Cobb’s start last night he went two innings. He gave up one hit while striking out three batters. without issuing a walk. Over 24 pitches, 16 were strikes. Not a bad first time out..

But hey, the Rockies have won twice as many home games this year (6) as they have road games (3). 😁
