  1. She made a very irresponsible decision. Unfortunately it cost her in a big way.
  2. I’d bet they (we) would. That’s a separate conversation than Dimon was having though. Again, I’d like to hear him expound in detail on the comment he made in the attachment above
  3. Tell that to all the commenters on this board. I don’t know that they’d be celebrating?
  4. Low or moderate inflation is good for an economy. I don’t know what Dimon considers low or moderate but no inflationary pressure is not a good thing. So taking his words literally, he’s more right than wrong. The years 2022 and 2023 were a result of the Covid fiasco and how that was handled. The actions taken at every level of the federal government set escalating inflation up for a nice run. Powell & his gurus made a mistake cutting rates last year. Average Joe’s have a better read on the economy than the fed.
  5. Dimon is apparently weighing the risks of some inflation against what he sees as a greater risk, that being national security. I’d be interested in hearing his security concerns in more detail.
  6. 😉 I was wondering when that would pop up again.
  7. Maybe I’m the last one to learn this… Apparently Mike Illitch paid Rosa Parks’ rent for over 10 years when he learned that she had been robbed and beaten in her home in Detroit in 1994. He moved her into a safer apartment and established a trust to cover her expenses until she died. Is that news to anybody else?
  8. The there’s this… As official festivities get under way, Trump takes office with a high rate of public approval. According to a new CBS News YouGov survey, 59% of Americans approve of how the Trump-Vance transition has been handled, with 55% either happy or satisfied that Trump won the November election. ————- Polls are what they are. I have no idea which is correct.
  9. I listened to the most recent Stavenhagen podcast today and part of the discussion was about where the Tigers infield is currently. In summary, totally up in the air. 1st base will be Keith. No experience at all at the position according to Cody. The one consistent infielder last year will be changing positions? SS-Sweeney. Minimal games at the big league level. Hoping he can hold the position without problems as he gains experience. 2nd base-Torres. Shooting for the offensive potential for an upside while realizing his defense is suspect. Personally, I’m not so sure what a Harris guy is if they’re willing to sign a guy with hustle issues. Impresses me as a guy that may show up some days and may have days he’s not all in. He’s playing for a contract so maybe it pays off. 3rd base-? Several possibilities. Jung should get the bulk of chances but who knows at this point. There are options as have been discussed here already. Catcher-Jake and Dingler. Probably the only position on the infield you could consider stable. The conversation was interesting but obviously highlighted reasons to be concerned with where we currently stand with only weeks between now and spring training.
  10. Black Rifle did a really good pumpkin spice coffee this past fall. Good java.
  11. Please, don’t remind me.😏
  12. The Jays caved.
  13. Without a doubt. His own party abandoned him.
  14. On the most recent podcast of ‘Days of Roar,’ Matt Vierling said that he drives a 2012 Ford Escape with 174,000 miles and has no intention of getting another car “until the wheels fall off.” A man after my own heart.
  15. fwiw, SBUX is in the process of change right now. Several pieces on the newest CEO (seems as if they change CEO’s annually) have been published recently outlining changes the franchise will make. Interesting stuff.
  16. OK Sue, a year removed from this post, how well did you do in the 2024 reading endeavor?
  17. The White House said the president had issued pardons for retired Gen. Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members and staff of the House committee that investigated the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, as well as police officers who testified before the committee. “These public servants have served our nation with honor and distinction and do not deserve to be the targets of unjustified and politically motivated prosecutions,” Biden said. 18. Wow! This May will mark eight years for me as well. Time flies.
  19. I’m going to be a bit cautious on expectations for Jobe this year. There will likely be an adjustment period for him at the ML level. If Cobb can stay healthy (big if) I’m optimistic about his season. I’m on the fence as to whether or not we really need another starter. The infield is a concern for me. Lots of questions to answer in spring training. ST games are one month away.
  20. A huge congratulations to you, seriously! Now you can put your time & energy into getting the MTS Board members lodging set up in Lakeland for spring training visitors. 😉
  21. 1807 Robert E. Lee born in Stratford, Virginia. I’m often about book recommendations. ‘Lee: The Last Years’ -is a very good book on Lee. The author is Charles Bracelen Flood, copyright 1981. He lived five years after Appomattox. The book is catalogues his post war life.
  22. Some years back I owned some AEP shares. Wish I had kept a few of the shares since I sold. Good company.
  23. If this team started the season with the personnel they currently have, they’d be hard pressed to match their 2024 record. A lot of things lined up for the Tigers the last six weeks that aren’t likely to repeat themselves this year.
  24. Question: Have there been any updates on Baez’ condition? How ready is he to go on the first day of spring training? I haven’t heard much on his status in a while. Thanks.
