A former Jacksonville Jaguars employee who embezzled more than $22 million from the team is suing FanDuel, alleging that the betting company fueled his fantasy-sports spending and ignored his gambling addiction. Amit Patel, who is serving a six-and-a-half-month federal prison term after pleading guilty to stealing money from the team, claimed in a lawsuit filed Tuesday that a FanDuel VIP host showered him with more than $1 million in betting credits, all-expenses-paid trips and gifts to prey on him. He is seeking $250 million in damages.

Toward the latter part of Friday night’s game vs the White Sox, Hinch had his arms around George Lombard’s shoulders and was having, more or less, a one way conversation with him as they both faced the field in the dugout. I would love to know what Hinch was saying then. I’m guessing it would be a conversation about real time strategy but have no idea. Has this instance been reported on in the media blitz around that game?

The devastation in western NC is something that is hard to fathom. I-40 is closed from I-77 to Tennessee. Towns have been wiped out, gone. It’s beyond words. The death count is nowhere near what it will be due to drownings and yet to be discovered bodies due to collapsed homes/fires, etc. As I approach my 70th year, I can’t think of anything as devastating as this in North Carolina in my lifetime.

That crossed my mind today as well.

My son and his family lived in Alameda for several years just before the Covid fiasco hit. They went to numerous A’s games and loved that team. They moved back east in 2020 and still followed the A’s big time. Today was a very big deal for my son. His buddy from Alameda, who attended many games with my son there almost convinced him to fly out for today’s game but he just couldn’t make it work. I hate it for the fans there. I hate it for baseball, period.

Clearly, you have a higher opinion of him than I do.

Every game now is a playoff game with a playoff atmosphere. Really liking this.
