  1. Can MLB not go one week without irritating me? I will not watch innings which start with a runner on second base. It is not baseball.
  2. They would have to give up a lot to get him. He has a liftime 3.72 ERA (123 ERA+) and 9.8 K per game lifetime. That is close to an ace, at least a good #2. I will say though that I had him on my fantasy team last year and watched him frequently last year and I was not impressed. His control was not great and hever looked comfortable and even in his good games he seemed to struggle to get through innings. It made me wonder where his good numbers came from.
  3. I heard he was racing bikes with Joel Zumaya.
  4. I think there would be more independent minor leagues who could occasionally sell players to the major league systems. There wouldn't be a lot of valuable players, but if MLB scales down further, then there might be a few more who sneak through than in the past.
  5. In theory, it's possible. It's been my observation that the super wealthy run the country and don't have to follow the same rules the rest of us do.
  6. He's not more powerful than them at all. Always remember the golden rule. The billionaires tell congress what to do. Congress doesn't tell them what to do.
  7. But then they would have to admit that it's a real problem.
  8. That is an old school trade - two major leaguers for two major leaguers. There used to be a lot of trades like that. Now, it's all veterans whose contracts are running out for prospects. That being said, it probably won't amount to much.
  9. I thought Laga, Wilson and Johnson were going to be great and they were going to complete the dream line-up. Johnson was pretty great for a while, but it was with the Mets.
  10. Torkelson saves his hitting for games that count.
  11. They need any good player they can get at the right price. If they could get someone like Conforto for the next few years within whatever their budget is, then great, but I wouldn't try to patch an outfielder in right now. I think pitching is a greater need.
  12. It's always nice to add another bat, but I am fine with the Tigers position players to start the season. They need more pitching depth.
  13. Best shape of his life... Rod Carew looks like he could bat .300 as a National League DH at 76.
  14. is it even a sentence?
  15. You need at least 8 starters to get through the season, so I think there is plenty of room. Manning has to be given a job, but we don't know how dependable he is yet. Alexander looked good last year, but he could be a fluke. They have some minor league guys like Wentz and Olson who might be OK, but are unproven. They need more depth.
  16. I would stay away from Peralta. Other than ERA, his numbers were pretty bad. I think they got lucky with him last year.
  17. Not being able to pitch is a problem! Even his minor league numbers were not impressive.
  18. I have seen several tweets today from fans who say they always liked VerHagen. I still don't get it.
  19. That's why they call it Douche Bank.
  20. I didn't like VerHagen because he kept getting so many chances and a lot of people kept saying he had great potential and I always just thought he sucked. I wonder where Buck Farmer is going to play this year.
  21. Who had Drew VerHagen on a two-year deal being the first free agent move after the agreement?
  22. I would like that better than wild cards.
  23. In public school in the seventh grade, I remember being taught evolution and I was surprised when one kid shouted out that it was all BS. It was surprising at the time because this kid was usually kind of laid back and joking all the time. It was the first time I had heard about this controversy. My parents taught me about religion, but it was never a big deal. They bought a chidren's Bible as a kid and I read it. My father told me there were some good lessons in there, but that it was just stories, not real.
  24. I wonder how much playing teams fewer times will help pitchers. If they play every team in the other league only once that is a whole bunch of teams that will see the same pitchers only once.
