  1. That 2020 Alabama team had Mac Jones, Najee Harris, Brian Robinson Jr., Jerry Jeudy, Devonta Smith, Henry Ruggs, and Jaylen Waddle. They might have hung with Matt Patricia's Lions that year. They came within a 5-point loss to (National Champion) LSU and a 3-point loss in the Iron Bowl from a National Championship. This Alabama team is worse. I sure hope this Michigan team is better.
  2. Here's the whole thing if anyone cares to watch. It was a great presser.
  3. Here are some tidbits from people who Tweet instead of post on MTF...
  4. He grew a little frustrated at the end of the conference at all the questions coming in about the play. He said something to the effect of "Rod's got that, I'm past it". Sounds like Rod Wood is working with the NFL league office and he has genuinely moved on and is focused on Minnesota.
  5. Jamo has a bit of an ankle injury and is day-to-day, but "nothing significant".
  6. Also said he wouldn't do anything differently about the play.
  7. "If it makes you feel any better, the NFL is against every team. I was in New Orleans.... That one, we packed our bags and left. This one, we got a taste... We are just getting started."
  8. MCDC just said in his presser he has "controlled fury". He's saying the perfect things about moving forward.
  9. Worth noting if we do draw the Rams.... our kicker woes pale in comparison to theirs.
  10. This is the first year (for me at least) where this game has felt bigger than The Game. That doesn't make intuitive sense, given this is a playoff and The Game is not, but I think there is something to be said for how the program has evolved. The last two years, the season was a huge success after Michigan beat Ohio State and didn't collapse in the Big Ten Championship. Anything beyond that was gravy. This year it feels like the season depends more on this game tonight (and hopefully next Monday too) than it did against Ohio State. While Ohio State always matters, there's a been there, done that feeling to beating Ohio State now, and that winning this - winning a semifinal, beating the SEC, going to the National Championship - is now the real next barrier for Michigan football.
  11. No doubt. I'm not sure what franchise is in position to take him that would use him wisely. The Bears have Kmet and Moore, but would need to reinvent what's been working in order for them to maintain success with Williams - plus it's never happened in Chicago with any quarterback, and Eberflus would be entering Williams' rookie season on the hot seat... The Patriots and Commanders have nothing to speak of on offense. Maybe the Falcons if they ship Arthur Smith out of town and hired an offensive mind (Ben Johnson?) who knew how to use Kyle Pitts and Bijan Robinson? That would take lots of draft capital though too.
  12. Maybe I'll be wrong. I was wrong about Trey Lance. The ownership rumor is manufactured and will never happen. I believe I had read that his dad was who started it though, later clarifying that it's just Caleb's goal to be a partial owner after retirement. It's his dad, not him, but it does seem to be putting the cart before the horse if that's a mentality he actually has. I will also say that I could be misremembering, because I can't find the report now...... To be clear, I don't care about the manicured nails. Not one iota... Painting "**** Utah" on the nails though isn't a manicure though, it's just stupid, especially when you go 0-3 in your career against Utah. Is he going to paint "**** lions" on them if he's drafted by the Bears? It's just immature IMO... You're right that he deserves credit for behaving reasonably with that moron fan, but it was the "everybody wants to be in these 12 1/2s" that made me cringe. Again, maybe I'll be wrong.
  13. Nothing concrete, but there is plenty of smoke. His dad talking about ownership of a team, him painting "F*** UTAH" on his fingernails, him refusing media contact after a loss to UCLA, him making comments like this when he does talk to the media... These "God's gift to football" QB prospects seem to hit the draft once every five years or so. While some obviously hit and are the generational talents they were hyped up to be (John Elway, Peyton Manning), it seems like a pretty standard proportion don't meet nearly those expectations set for them (Trevor Lawrence, Andrew Luck).
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if the Giants beat the Eagles. That Eagles team looks like they peaked in November and their answer to their troubles was promoting Matt Patricia. I'd be pleasantly surprised by the Commanders beating the Cowboys. Cowboys aren't good on the road but the Commies haven't won since November 5th. They are just so so bad.
  15. While William Clay Ford was in his suite throwing drinks on opposing fans.
  16. Cabinda was waived just in time to talk publicly without risk of being fined.
  17. I remember for a long time the NHL would release videos, narrated by Brendan Shanahan (who was a Senior VP at the time), detailing all of their player conduct that was deemed worthy of discipline and peeling back the curtain of why players were being suspended or fined. Here is an example. I would love for the NFL to do the same, both for player discipline and for controversial calls. The status quo we are existing in right now is really stupid. We have Adam Schefter reporting that an official is being downgraded and left out of the postseason (while for some reason deflecting to a tripping penalty that there doesn't seem to be a good angle of); we have Pro Football Talk reporting that the NFL is blaming the Lions; we have a myriad of paid former officials on ESPN and NBC and CBS quasi-defending the official despite it just clearly being a mistake; we have another myriad of paid commentators and former coaches defending the Lions and what was clearly a play that worked to perfection.... And we have radio silence from the NFL themselves. Stand up and tell us what you think. Someone has to own this publicly, not behind the guise of texting Schefter or being an anonymous "source with knowledge of the situation". The officials are not beyond reproach, they have very public, very high-paying jobs. It won't make everyone happy, but at least everyone would be on the same page as to what occurred from the NFL's point of view.
  18. I don't love the idea of playing the Rams in the wildcard, but it's the playoffs. They aren't supposed to be easy. If the playoff picture ends as expected and the wildcards are the Cowboys, Rams, and Seahawks, there is not an easy out in that field. Ford Field will be rocking no matter who the opponent is, we just have to hope the offense takes care of the ball and Barnes finishes his tackles.
